I have deleted the text of what you proposed, as it a copyright violation, having been previously published elsewhere. You have been told on previous occasions that Wikipedia cannot accept such material. Please also read WP:Autobiography. - David Biddulph (talk) 01:04, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request at Adam Scott

[edit]

If someone wouldn't mind, could you please complete this edit request at Adam Scott? He's the golfer who just won the Masters. I already made the changes at the 2013 Masters article, but this one is protected. Or, if an admin can unprotect it, I'll make the edits myself. I'm really surprised it's protected because the activity is quite slow. Thanks! --76.189.111.2 (talk) 02:00, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like the protection will expire soon. [1] If no one answers your request, you should be able to do it yourself before very long. RudolfRed (talk) 02:10, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I had seen that but it's not for another three hours. I just asked James if can unprotect now since any troublemakers have probably moved on to more interesting ventures. Haha. Anyway, someone can make the edits in about one minute. I made it very easy in my request. They can copy/paste them straight from the editing page on the talk page. Btw, every time I see your name I automatically think of this. ;) --76.189.111.2 (talk) 02:13, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Done The admin unprotected the page for me and I made the edits. --76.189.111.2 (talk) 02:56, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

an article about war rape with no mention of american atrocities in vietnam? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.177.130.14 (talk) 02:07, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you have suggestions for the article War rape, you can discuss them on the article's talk page, along with reliable sources. RudolfRed (talk) 02:20, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ref

[edit]

What is wrong with this cite?

<ref> http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-law-schools/university-of-alabama-03001 </ref>— Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.106.147.151 (talkcontribs)

I removed the duplicate question. Can you clarify what you are asking about? What makes you think anything is wrong with it? Is an error showing up on an article somewhere? RudolfRed (talk) 02:48, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There was nothing wrong with the citation per se. What you did, as you can see from this diff, was to somehow add a stray set of ref tags (<ref></ref>) higher up on the page next to the section header, probably because you used the formatting button that places these tags with one click, and somehow hit it while your cursor was higher on the page. It's fixed now. The fact that you were adding cited content is great. Just note that what we really want with citations is more transparent attribution than is provided by a naked link. For example, here I changed the citation format to tell the reader who the publisher is (U.S. News & World Report) and what the link went to (Best Law Schools: Ranking of University of Arizona). By the way, the ref tags get no spacing from what they are citing "Text<ref>..." not "text <ref>". One more little tip. When you want to display some markup you are using in edit mode for example purposes, such as the citation above, you can place it in "nowiki" tags (<nowiki></nowiki>). I have done that for you here. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 03:11, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, WikEd has had a bug (for some time) of inserting those spaces in front of refs when using the cite template dropdown in the toolbar, which might be one reason we're seeing more of it. It would be great if that could get fixed, or one of the patrolling bots would auto-fix them. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 03:59, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Come to think of it, there was an almost identical error I saw recently in responding to a teahouse question. Alan, has this bug been raised anywhere as far as you know?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 04:19, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yup. It's on the main WikEd maintainer's talk page, which is the forum for bug handling. It's been there quite a while. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 05:42, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Alan, where is that page? I'd like to report some other bugs with wikEd I've found:
  • Inserts spaces into urls
  • Inserts spaces into internal links (breaks picture links)
  • Capitalizes "some" template argument names
I'm sure there are other things I am forgetting, but those are the ones that annoy the crap out of me off the top of my head. Technical 13 (talk) 11:36, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, I guess it's User talk:Cacycle/wikEd?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 12:20, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks... I've started the reports (even his bug report form is buggy). Technical 13 (talk) 15:20, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Since I couldn't find the leading_space_before_ref report, I re-reported it here: User talk:Cacycle/wikEd § Improper space inserted in front of references. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 07:42, 16 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Miss Teenage America

The trademark and business is now owned by Trudy Campbell, whom is also the U.S. Ambassador to the Troops. The business is being kept up but no pageant is currently being held. Plans are in the works to kick it off again due to its rich history. This can be verified with the trademark offices in Washington D.C. Thanks for the great site's. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.176.202.9 (talk) 06:13, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you have improvements you can make to an article, you are encouraged to edit the article (with citations to reliable sources). If you don't wish to do that, please bring it up at the article's talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 15:09, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Wikipedia Home Page

[edit]

Dear Sir/Ma’am

We know about Wikipedia is hosted by the Wikimedia Foundation, a non-profit organization that also hosts a range of other projects (likes Wikibooks, Wikinews, Wikiquote, Wikidata etc.)

Now-a-days or everyday even every time technology has been changing. So, we have to change according to their path. I want to say about the home page, there should be some changes like

All tools should come under "Wikitools"

In Wikitools:- Main page (Wikihome), Help, Editing (Wikiupdate), Toolbox (f_upload, pages, link, info). Similarly,

Wikilanguages: - contains all the languages. (Wikiglobe)

Wikinew: - contains innovation, research, features, May I help you (Help Portal). Note: - Wikinew is different from Wikinews.

I do not want to say that you have to accept these things but there should be change.

Parivartan sansar ka Niyam hai! (source :- Gita Saar (Bhagavad Gita)).

Thanking You

Topic sounds not Wikipedia specific, so better to bring this up in a structured and better readable way at https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikimedia_Forum --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:57, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

list of golden and silver jubilee hits of bollywood

[edit]

Sir

Till the year 2000, the benchmark for a successful film was FOR HOW MANY WEEKS THE FILM RAN; that is did the film celebrate golden jubilee or silver jubilee. I would like Wikipedia to publish such a list in consultation with TRADE GUIDE/SCREEN/FILM INFORMATION MAGAZINES; I think in TRADE GUIDE 2007 issue a list was published. It would be a great service to movie lovers if such a list is added to the page — Preceding unsigned comment added by 14.99.201.95 (talk) 15:42, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does not publish anything in consultation with anybody. Individual editors create and extend articles with information sourced to reliable publications. If the information you are talking about is indeed available in reliable sources, then you may certainly add it to the articles; and it might be appropriate to add it to a relevant infobox. Your mention of TRADE GUIDE 2007 is unhelpful without more information: there are hundreds of organs called "Trade Guide", some of them no doubt reliable and others not.
Your best bet is probably to post at WP:WikiProject Bollywood, and see if you can interest somebody there in your suggestion. --ColinFine (talk) 22:14, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism of the Banjo article

[edit]

Dear editors:

As a bluegrass musician, I have the article about the Banjo on my watchlist. Today an IP user, 204.219.240.15 (talk), vandalized the page. Another IP user quickly reverted the damage. I was going to leave a message on the vandal's talk page, but there is a notice there that one more incident of vandalism will lead to blocking. This is one more. However, it appears to be a school IP address, and maybe another person at the school on a different computer changed it back to prevent the blocking. I am reporting it and will leave it to someone who may know more about this situation. —Anne Delong (talk) 20:38, 15 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
