Can someone please crop out the whitespace in this image? I think if is best if someone crops the original version of the image rather than the new version. The new version was shrunken incorrectly because of the whitespace in the image. This request should be done TODAY (31 July) as the the original file is marked for deletion and will be deleted today. Thanks in advance.--109.79.29.212 (talk) 12:51, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Because it's about the board game, not the doofus looking into the camera. If you're not going to be constructive, leave off.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 23:11, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Assuming that you're not being deliberately obtuse or playing dumb here, I'll restate the question. Why do you want the file converted to png format? I have made repeated efforts to engage you in discussion. Please respond. nagualdesign 23:23, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I've cropped the image to remove the "doofus" and the other players. There's no need to convert this to png. nagualdesign 00:28, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you can't see a revision, it's because there's something going on with commons uploading right now. I'll keep trying. ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 21:15, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I thought you'd lost quite a bit of detail in the foreground bushes (crushed blacks) so I had a go at it too. When it comes to photographic adjustments like exposure and white balance I find Adobe Camera Raw excellent. You can choose Open as... and open a jpg as though it was a Camera Raw image, then tweek the exposure just like a digital negative. I thought you might like the results so I also included a screenshot of the settings I used. Those were the only adjustments I made. nagualdesign 23:17, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
tbh, it looks a little washed out now, but I bet if I tweak your version, it'll look better than my first (I did the first in GIMP without ever zooming in, and now that I'm zooming in I'm seeing more that I don't like). ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 00:09, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There. I used photoshop and pulled the white end of the levels to the very end of the graph (it was well past the end naturally), I bumped the saturation just slightly and I adjusted shadows to be a bit redder and yellower, and the midtones to be a bit yellower. It removes the atmosphere that was between the house and the camera, though I'm not 100% sure about the extra saturation. ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 00:15, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I only dared to push it as far as the colour noise allows, plus I wanted to show what Open as... Camera Raw alone can do, but I like what you've done with the overall colour - removing the purple haze. Looks pretty good. Let's call it  Done. nagualdesign 00:38, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I just thought it might be obvious that someone adjusted the saturation. But if it looks good to you, then I'm cool with that. If you want to see something horrific, go look at my first (or second) version and zoom in (full size) on the bare trees, where they rise above the house. Never 'shop without checking the image at different zoom levels. <shudder> ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 00:54, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, both of you, for the help. Sorry I had to put you to this trouble, but I didn't have the chance to go to this spot at any other time of day, and there's no other angle from which it can be photographed. Nyttend (talk) 01:16, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking for myself, I thoroughly enjoyed working on it, and kind of wished it took longer. I'm pretty certain Nagual enjoyed it as well, as they took the time to share the settings they used to fix the shit-storm I first posted. (At least, that's the sort of thing I would do if I were enjoying myself.) ᛗᛁᛟᛚᚾᛁᚱPants Tell me all about it. 01:19, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@MjolnirPants, Nyttend, and Nagualdesign: I tried to get another version. IMHO the first is too much green. PawełMM (talk) 07:17, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm a good bit red-green colorblind (see how I confused someone at WP:GL/M#Women's suffrage in the United States), so I won't have an opinion on green levels. You should (or should not!) have seen what happened the one and only I tried to edit a picture for color levels. Nyttend (talk) 15:21, 9 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am looking to add an original photo taken by me to upload to my article: Laytongku but though searching for a means to upload it I have been led to this request site. I have searched Wikipedia-commons as I understand that is where a photo can be uploaded but was not able to find the suitable search engine. Even here I have not found a way to add a photo. Can anyone further help me on this issue.Palukiwa (talk) 21:19, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Palukiwa to upload at commons there are a couple different forms to use, I myself use the Special:UploadWizard page. Offnfopt(talk) 21:30, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You can also use the basic upload form. You don't need to worry about getting the description and wotnot right - they can be edited later - but you will need to decide how to license your image. nagualdesign 21:38, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Kintetsubuffalo what do you want the file names to be and which file for which filename. - Offnfopt(talk) 06:10, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your insight! Textless one should be File:Bombardment of Papeete.png, clipping should be File:Bombardment of Papeete press.png (or if you prefer to use the original French name, File:M 54 8 Papeete bombardée.png, that'd be fine too). The original jpg needs to be superseded.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 06:19, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry should be last question, did you want the black and white levels adjusted on the cropped image or leave same levels as the current PNG? - Offnfopt(talk) 06:25, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're the photo wizard, whichever you think best shows up in an article. On this monitor, the original looks deeper, but fit into a frame, I don't know which is best. Thanks!--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 06:54, 22 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
