Suggested improvements for Konica_Minolta.svg

Article(s): Konica Minolta

Request: The image is the wrong shade of blue (compare to images at http://www.konicaminolta-images.eu/images/list/category/Marketing__Logos__Konica%20Minolta/), and the "light beam" lines should be made white rather than transparent - as when the logo is placed over a non-white background, the intention is for these to remain white, as according to the official Konica Minolta logo rules. Sadly, while I have this document, I just checked and it's marked as internal to the company, so I can't provide it as reference... A good example of the logo over a non-white background can be seen on product brochures such as this one: http://kmbs.konicaminolta.us/main/content/products/attachments/productdocs/bizhub_C203_C253_C353_brochure_V3.pdf (PDF sorry...).

I'd do it myself, but sorry to say I'm really not a graphics kind of guy and my attempts fell short of anything that I'd consider usable... YttriumOx (talk) 13:03, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Another junk logo from Brands of the World. Surprise Surprise. Anyway, that PDF only contains a raster image of the logo. Do you know of any PDF that may contain a vector version of the logo so we can extract it from an official source? -Andrew c [talk] 13:59, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I took a "flat" version of the logo from a random official source and added an equal-sized white ellipse behind the symbol mark. The shaded version of the logo does not seem to be used in a vectorized form, at least in the PDFs, unfortunately. Is this good enough? —Quibik (talk) 16:59, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Steam engine animation

Article(s): Steam engine

Request: Make an animation of the steam engine. The animation should show the different engine strokes; not sure how this is with a steam engine (with a internal combustion engine, every intake/outlet of gas, and the ignition, ... is shown; perhaps it's best to only have 2 strokes here; ie right to left piston stroke and left to right piston stroke. A similar rotary steam engine ("steam turbine") would also be created afterwards, this too can be made into an animation. KVDP (talk) 14:26, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): I've got a problem with the source of this image. On the image page it says "The logo may be obtained from Iranian reform movement.", but I looked on their website and I can't find it, and looking for "Iranian reform" (or "Iranian reform movement") and "logo" or "flag" doesn't get me any pictures of this logo. Is it really official? --Slashme (talk) 17:19, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The primary author of the article is the uploader of the image, which he uploaded once before. He said then it was his logo, I assume good faith since he seems to know what he's talking about. That being said, I can't read it. --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 04:21, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

D&C procedure SVG

Article(s): Dilation and curettage

Request: Relabel the image. "Cervix" seems to point to the uterus, and "vagina" definitely points to the cervix. That or I'm nuts... It's not a very "anatomically accurate" image to begin with - this "woman" seems to have no vagina altogether.

Compare to File:Vacuum-aspiration (single).svg for an anatomically correct image (with an actual vagina!) very similar to this setup, but with a fetus and inapplicable labels, and File:Illu repdt female.jpg - the best I could find with clear labels for uterus, cervix and vagina.

Ideally, this needs to be redrawn to look something more like the Vaccum-aspiration image I linked, minus the fetus and a different instrument. But the minimum is to move the "cervix" label over to the current "vagina" arrow, and removing the current "cervix" arrow and "vagina" label altogether, they're wrong.

Oh, and thanks for the work, wikigraphists, I've no clue about making svg's. 95.135.248.124 (talk) 18:38, 6 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

  • I created the Vacuum-aspiration illustration, and I've been told that the uterus is at an odd angle, but couldn't get clarification on that. I'd be glad to merge the two images. Take an instrument from the new one, and place it in the old one and remove the products of conception and all that. But I don't want to step on anyone's toes. Maybe the original image creator wants to give improving their image a shot. I'll contact them. -Andrew c [talk] 19:55, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not on the Commons, where this image is hosted, and where I left my message!! -Andrew c [talk] 22:42, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I've done up File:Dilation & curettage.svg. This version doesn't have any labels. They can be easily added, but I wanted to get opinions. I used Fred's tools, and my basic diagram, and made major adjustment to the uterus. What do you think? What items need to be labeled, if any? Thanks for your input, and I hope this is close to what you wanted. -Andrew c [talk] 17:26, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't the tenaculum at the wrong place? It's supposed to be used to dialate the cervix right, not sit at the opening of the vagina. Kaldari (talk) 05:42, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
And please don't go by the labels in the first image. They are wrong. The cervix is actually where the current vagina label is pointing. Kaldari (talk) 05:44, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't see your reply until now. I know the labels are all messed up, which is why I left them out of mine, and wanted to find out what people that were important to label. Didn't figure that the placement of tools was wrong either. I don't have any source image for this procedure outside of Fred's. So I have no idea where the tenaculum should be placed. I'd be glad to move it where you see fit. Could you link me to a text book (perhaps one searchable on google books) that has an illustration of this procedure?-Andrew c [talk] 20:21, 3 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request: These are a pair of line drawings I did a few years ago in Paint (I know, I know, but I don't have anything else). Would it be possible to clean them up and svg-ify them? The colors aren't exact or anything, I was just following a textual description, so anything in the ballpark of "dark-ish gray" and "light-ish gray" would be fine. Request: The circles with the numbers ought to be made larger (say, twice as large as now), because they are not very easy to read except at relatively large sizes. Also, it'd be nice if the lines connecting 7, 8, and 9 with the parts they illustrate were (say) white with a thin black border (or vice versa), rather than solid black; that would make the line of 8 more easily visible at small sizes. There might be on VectorImages.com, that'd be my best guess. Fry1989 (talk) 20:59, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Bother, it's another one of those :/ I don't have time to even attempt it due to exam pressure, but hopefully someone else can take a look at it. NikNaks93 (talk) 20:47, 22 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No vectorised arms found anywhere, looks like a good one for in between. I'll have a go (on the arms and the standard), will take some time though. Completefailure (talk) 15:36, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
 Done Not the prettiest though IMO, someone might want to clean it up a bit (the Coat of arms); or request clean ups; although funnily enough each picture I found looked quite different from the other. Completefailure (talk) 15:19, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Poloidal rotation of a torus

Resolved

Request: Modify this image to show only the poloidal (red) spin direction arrow, that is, remove the toroidal (blue) spin arrow and its shadow. Then recolour the poloidal arrow blue, to give a better contrast, and name the new picture something like "File:Poloidal rotation of a torus.png. --Epipelagic (talk) 08:10, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

How about contacting the original author on this? Perhaps he can re-render the image with your requested changes. I doubt the manual retouching would look satisfactory. —Quibik (talk) 12:34, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have left a message for him on his (Commons) talk page [1], but he has not been active for some years. Would it be difficult for someone here to recreate the image if they have the right software? --Epipelagic (talk) 22:00, 23 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not entirely identical, but hopefully similar enough. I can make it a closer match if necessary. Jeodesic (talk) 15:02, 24 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so very much. In fact, after all these years, the original author DaveBurke also rapidly responded with the following... an embarrassment of gererousity... --Epipelagic (talk) 01:23, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That version (i.e. File:Toroidal coord poloidal only.png) isn't very high resolution. Either that or something else is making the edges of the image very jagged. /Lokal_Profil 22:46, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request: The existing logo of WikiProject Zoo, File:Wikiproject zoo logo.jpg, is of very poor quality and also includes unsourced artwork in it, for which it will quite possibly be deleted. So, if someone is willing, I'm requesting that it be recreated in SVG format (the bitmap images can be embedded inside). The 2 images can be taken from Commons:Category:Panthera tigris, for example. —Quibik (talk) 00:29, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
