A second editathon and site tour will be held at Queen Street Mill (Burnley, Lancashire) on Saturday, 10 May 2014, from 11.00–16.30. All welcome, but booking essential. Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and admission charges waived.
(The previous event was held in May 2013.)
What
An editathon is where Wikipedia editors work collaboratively to create and develop encyclopedia articles, making use of access to archives and other resources.
A tour of the museum will be provided in order for participants to gain an understanding of the potential for writing articles about objects in the venue's collection. People with cameras can take pictures or video.
Who
Anyone may attend. That includes experienced Wikipedians, and contributors to other Wikimedia projects, of course, but also people new to the projects, who would like to know more. Help is on hand for people who have not edited or uploaded media before.
We would especially like to meet local Wikipedia editors, and would welcome volunteers to help with this and future events, to train any people new to Wikipedia editing, or those who need some assistance.
