The portal was not promoted by Caulde 14:22, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I benn working on this portal and think that the portal is ready for being featured. Bewareofdog 23:46, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- There is a massive amount of whitespace below the DYK box as I view this. Purged three times and got similar results each time; there is nothing on the left corresponding with the Categories box. Needs rearrangement.
- Considering how many quality articles there, I'm surprised there are so few DYKs... nothing else out there?
- Could you get an image for Portal:Archaeology/Selected article/5? (The article contains a free image, and there are many other options out there I'm sure.)
- "it is a humanistic endeavor." - the layman asks "so what?" Wikilinks, layman's terms, etc...
- The origin of the word (as per Archaeology) could be mentioned in the intro.

I don't understand you when you say ""it is a humanistic endeavor." - the layman asks "so what?" Wikilinks, layman's terms, etc..." Bewareofdog 02:01, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Basically, what's a humanistic endeavor? —Giggy 06:43, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- I fixed some of these things. Bewareofdog 03:05, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment - Here's my view of the current criteria for featured portals against what is currently present in the portal presented here:
- General format on IE - Hmm.. I'm not sure about this. The top half is generally okay but the Related Portals and Wikiprojects subsections are too large with differing fonts. Are all those portals in the related portals section relevant? American Revolutionary War for instance? The portal is also missing some other key components (which have to be appropriate to the topic appraised); a biography section, a quote section, topics, things you can do, featured/good/B-class content (if any).
- Format of sections N (feel free to remove this once done) - The sections are too long, ideally they should be around 15/16 lines long, and the selected image section is too large, you'll need to re-scale the image to a lower pixelation.
- Randomisation - you've done a good job with DYK rotation but because the blurbs are so long the rotation for the articles is slow.
- Finally for now, if you need help with this I will offer my assistance. Rudget 20:21, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment about first point above but not actually commenting about the portal - On Mozilla Firefox, everything looks good. The differing fonts on IE for me was the reason I switched. Pie is good (Apple is the best) 21:03, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- I strongly oppose this portal to be featured in the current condition. The portal does not have Tasks you can do section, which I believe is one of the basic requirements to be featured. Thanks, Shyam (T/C) 10:30, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- It's a great to have, but not a requirement. OhanaUnitedTalk page 02:41, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

- I agree that a tasks section would be nice. I also don't see a Topics section, with "links to the most important articles related to the topic". --Jh12 (talk) 05:24, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
