I'm nominating the Buses portal for featured status; I think it meets all the criteria and I have been working on it for the last few months. The portal is very complete, informative, encyclopedic and useful.
The shuffle option for the portal, per the "Show new selections" purge option on the page, has the following content options:
- 13 Selected articles
- 6 Selected pictures
- 10 Selected Did you know entries, plus archives
There isn't very much, but I think it's OK. Rcsprinter (message) 20:04, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose: Formatting, not enough content (benchmark is 20), captions and text are far too short for both pic and article, colors strike me as gnarish. Will try to get a listing below, later. ResMar 00:40, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Border colors are mismatched, they do not work well together.
- "The Buses Portal" would be more appropriate then "Buses".
- Don't need a shortcut box displayed so prominently - you'd do much better with an image.
- Intro para could do with some expansion.
- Selected article text needs to be lengthened.
- Selected image pictures should be better formatted - thumbs are UGLY on portals, especially without captions.
- Portal:Buses/Selected article should have instructions on adding new articles to the queue, not the list that is currently there - use {{25 numbered subpages}}.
- You'd be better off with a link to the actual article as well, on the bottom left side.
- Really, use Layout templates, they make formatting easier and standardized, assuming you know simple template syntax.
- Selected pictures need formatting, the picture needs to be centered.
- Both sections need a much greater selection.
- It's intensive all right, but to fill out DYK you should be searching the Recent additions archives for the keyword "bus"; you should be able to get much more then six hooks, assuming these ever ran in DYK in the first place.
- Related portals should be above WikiProject, etc.
- Topics is malformatted.
- Category should use a CategoryTree.
- Why do you have a section for A class articles if there are none?
- Needs selected quote or something similar - it's far too short, there's no kick to the portal.
- Reviewed articles would be better with a simple left-right bullets list, not a wikitable.
- Associated Wikimedia is just a template, do you really need to link to edit it? It's editprotected at that!
- There. This should have been put through Peer review first, it's not nearly ready. ResMar 01:50, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- I am searching Recent additions for "bus". Nobody does many DYKs about buses though. I think the border colours are fine, and the Associated Wikimedia is just a template, and that's how portals work, you edit the different modules. How do I withdraw? Rcsprinter (talkin' to me?) 16:57, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Clicking through takes me to editing a redirect, and we should not be encouraging edits to high-use templates such as this. Do you mean to withdraw the nomination? ResMar 22:06, 12 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
