Original – Millicent Fawcett, suffragist, governor of Bedford College, London, co-founder of Newnham College, Cambridge, president of the National Union of Women's Suffrage Societies, and, 1901 she was appointed to lead the British government's commission to South Africa investigating conditions in the concentration camps that had been created there in the wake of the Second Boer War. Oh, and she was the first woman to get a statue in Parliament Square this year.
