Original – Front and back view of a Fairphone 2 with a transparent case. The phone is modular, allowing individual components to be repaired or upgraded without having to replace the entire phone. Visible replaceable components include the screen, cameras, loudspeaker and battery.
Reason
The Fairphone 2 is the first modular smartphone on the market, and this image, from Fairphone themselves, shows the modular construction clearly. The version on Commons is fully annotated, identifying the components and which module each one belongs to. The image is clear, freely licensed and meets the resolution guidelines. (This image was added today, but replaced an almost identical image, rendered from a different angle, which was uploaded over a week ago.)

Given the current POTD backlog, this would probably end up appearing some time mid-2019... (More seriously, we do already have at least one featured picture of a current electronic product.) Smurrayinchester 08:34, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Surprisingly, we don't currently have any featured pictures of phones - this seems like a definite lacuna, given how ubiquitous they are. Are there any superior images of smartphones you can recommend (particularly ones that show internal components)? Smurrayinchester 13:54, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
