I was wondering if there is someone out there who is interested in the music of Kaze(rapper). He is most known for his work with 9th Wonder in the album Spirit of '94. Scenes (Sociology)

[edit]

I have been trying to do research on scenes in sociology, but I have not been finding much. Most people seem to confuse scenes with subcultures and I would like help to make an article that states WHAT a scene is.

By Scenes I generally refer to the dictonary definition that that it is a section of the society that share a common interest. I consider this different from Communities of interest and Subcultures. A community of Interest and Subculture do not include the wide range of people that a scene can include.

A subculture is a group of people with shared interests, trends and behaviors.

A Community of interest is the people interested in something.

A SCENE would include everyone interested in the thing, the people who facilitate it, the media people, and so on.

One example is the motorbike scene. It includes bikers, racers, stunmen, extrame motorbike riders, marketers, collectors, makers, mechanics, designers, reporters, law makers, biker magazine people, and other such people. Some of their interests may be purly business. Others may WANT to be interested in them for the Motorbikes themselves. They are all part of the scen as far as I can tell.

Please send me any research you can find on SCENES. (Not motorbikes). Corrupt one 01:01, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good Idea. I have been working on the Emo article. And I believe this article would help with some of the confusion surrounding this. At least I assume that's what you're talking about. You ARE talking about the slang term, right?

Whatever. Well I view a scene as what you describe as a subculture. I'll send some Emo article editors. J-stan 20:32, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Nameless Band featuring star guitarist Jay Jenei, vocalist Tom Shetler, rhythm guitarist Colin Macnamara, drummer TJ DiPilla, and bassist Joey Aji, have been dominating the east coast music scene. Their next concert is scheduled for the Fillmore East, sometime this August.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 21:58, 16 June 2007 (talkcontribs) Tom Shetler

Worth Ranch

[edit]

I'm planning on creating an article on the Boy Scout ranch located near Palo Pinto, Texas, in Palo Pinto County, I do know it was a ranch in the 1800s, that it became a Scout Camp in 1929, and held it's first summer camp in 1930. I know quite a few other trivial facts, such as the dissapperance pf "Charlie" in the mid 1900s after the three vehicle collision in the lower reigon of the camp known as the bottoms. There was a fairly famous brand (duly named the Worth Ranch Brand) that was used as a cattle brand when the ranch cared for cattle, that disappeared in the 1970s, and has yet to be found. Worth Ranch also has a quite a few stories in Palo Pinto Campfires.

I know more things but I need more information regarding things like History, Geology (Kyle Mountain, the treasured landmark of the ranch), and perhaps Mythology. Being a Boy Scout who has camped there many times, and loves the ranch itself, I would like to see an article on the ranch fairly soon, and if it could be started and added onto quickly, it could be something to read up on.—Preceding unsigned comment added by JabberJacob (talkcontribs) 02:01, 17 June 2007

Hello and than you for asking your question. I see that you have already gone ahead and created the article. What the article needs now is something that asserts why this particular boy scout camp is notable. The article also needs to have some citations from reliable sources, otherwise it violates the encyclopedia's no original research policy. The article may end up getting deleted if it dosent meet these requirements. If you need any more help, feel free to ask! Thank you. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 05:21, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for writing. Yeah, sometimes that can happen to an article, especially if you don't know some of the inclusion criteria. The Blonde Girls

[edit]

The Blonde Girls, a band started in 2006, ironically consists of four male members: Mike Arendt, Alex Dalgleish, Zack Lawton, and James Garrity. All of which were once members of Canadian Interference (CI) which had gained slight popularity around the Mars Area (3 time winners of the NCC Battle of the Bands). However, CI was merely a cover band, and was never meant for anything more.

CI was headed for nowhere, and it got especially worse after Martin Lamneck and Zack Lawton left to form the slightly popular Udo and The Stormtrooper. After this, it soon became obvious that almost none of the original members of CI had put fourth their best songwriting efforts.

Shortly after, Mike, Jim, and Alex started to get together in Mike's basement to jam where some very interesting ideas were formed. Zack joined sometime later... Pennsylvania has never witnessed a band of this great of magnitude before, but trust this humble bassist, they will be shocked.

The band has now played a multitude of shows and are now ready for more. If you live around the Mars, Pennsylvania area then please come find us!!!!!!!!!!—Preceding unsigned comment added by Dalgleishx (talkcontribs) 16:29, 24 June 2007

That seems like a very nice start to an article. Before you start an article on this band you should make sure they fit the notability requirements at WP:MUSIC and since you seem to be a member of the group, you should look into the Conflict of Interest policy- essentially you shouldn't create article about organizations or people you are closely involved with. Thanks for your question and happy writing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:08, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Women's international rugby

[edit]

Last week (13th June) was the 25th anniversary of the first ever women's rugby international.

There was no celebrtation of acknlowdgement about this because no=oene noticed. This is not unrelated to the fact that no-where on the wbe is there a simple history of women's international rugby or even a listing of international games.

Various part lists exist on some national RFU website, and there are lists of all World Cup games on Wikipedia alreday, but after a quarter of a century at least some sort of start needs to be made to the creation of a complete list of games since 1982.

Johnlbirch 14:11, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very interesting! The earliest date listed in either the Women's rugby league or the Women's Rugby League World Cup articles is 1985. I think this subject would make a great addition to either of those articles, or to a new article if the scope of those articles doesn't cover the subject (I really don't know sports, so I can't tell). When you write the material make sure you have reliable sources and be sure to cite them. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:27, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay - how does this look? Women's_international_rugby. Johnlbirch 10:33, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very, very nice! Quite informative and well written in an easy to read style. You might think about reducing your dependence on external links, that is unless your using them as references. If that is the case you should format them per the manual of style. Myself I prefer to use footnotes that are standardized by using the citation templates. The article does need an introduction, a short (about 2 or 3 sentences) blurb explaining the subject for people who just want a quick definition and don't want to read the whole article. The list of Internationals is deserving of an independent article, I think- you might consider splitting it off. You should also include some more internal links, for example to the Women's rugby league article which would seem to be related. All in all a really nice article! Thanks for adding to Wikipedia and happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 16:21, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lewis A. Martineé

[edit]

I am currently investigating writing an article on Lewis A. Martineé, executive producer at Pantera Productions, Miami, FL, USA; Martineé had an extensive list of clients during the 1980's and 1990's. I already know about his in-house girl group Exposé and then-Atlantic recording artist Deborah Gibson, but doubtless others were also part of Pantera's clientele. What sources are available to begin a stub article? - B.C.Schmerker 03:24, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For finding sources you could try a Google search or a visit to your library. Look over the requirements for notability at [WP:MUSIC]] for more sources specific to the music industry and also to make sure that the subject meets the notability guidelines for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If the article's subject doesn't meet the notability requirements, it may end up being deleted. Thank you very much for writing. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:41, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tru-la-vis-tic

[edit]

Trulavistic is the word i came up with to define something i cant find a word for.

Trulavistic The state of being when someone wants something but cant ask for it or it will lose some or all of its significance. i.e. Like when you are about to kiss a girl/boy and s/he asks if s/he can kiss you, causing the kiss to dither in affection. (not always true)

that's all, really.

if anyone has a word or phrase for this let me know :)

if not: then anyone agree with what i am trying to convey?

or, have a better word?

Travel/Tours

[edit]

Today, Rick and his team are on the road an average of 230 days out of the year in ministry. It has all been by Holy Spirit promotion and favor, never by self promotion. In late 2006 Rick began working very closely with Karen Wheaton and her youth movement called, "THE RAMP" in whose motto is "to awaken a generation out of spiritual death and complacency". At these RAMP meetings they often work together to "raise up a spiritual army". Rick is frequently seen at these conferences, and is considered a key voice in this new movement by many.

• 2004 Throneroom Worship (independent release with Kari Jobe)
This is an all acoustic Celtic sounding worship album. It features cellos, violins, mandolins, and much more. Rick leads with his long time friend Kari Jobe.

• 2005: Overtaken (CFNI)
Rick was again a featured artist and songwriter. His songs on this album include, "Love Song" and "Eyes of Zion".

• 2005: Weapons of Warfare (Fire Rain Music/ASCAP)
This was Rick's first major release. It is known by Steve Shultz of the Elijah List as "INTENCE, PROPHETIC, WARFARE, WORSHIP." You would never be able to tell that more than half of the CD is all unrehearsed, spontaneous moments. This album is all live, and is a great intro to Rick Pino and his music.

• 2007: Angel of Awakening (Fire Rain Music/ASCAP)
Even though this is a studio project, it still captures over an hour of spontaneous prophetic moments. The songs to look for on this record are "I Can Hear the Sound", and "Your Love is Like". -->—Preceding unsigned comment added by Firerainministries (talkcontribs) 10:28, 26 June 2007

Company Information/Knowledge - Voyager Expanded Learning

[edit]

Was wondering how or if we can place information about our company, Voyager Expanded Learning, as I've seen other companies mentioned such as Fujitsu_Limited or even just Fujitsu. We're an educational publishing company, and I don't want to infringe on the "advertisement" term, but believe our company provides information worthy to discussion and knowledge. Not to mention, we're already mentioned within Wikipedia at least once on the World Maths Day.

Thanks!

Hello and thanks very much for taking the time to write and ask about this. First of all, for inclusion in the encyclopedia a company has to meet the relevent notability criteria, basically the company has to have been non-trivially mentioned in [[WP:V|reliable] third party sources. Also since you are associated with the company, you should be aware of our conflict of interest guideline, it is frowned upon for people directly associated with a person or organization to create or edit articles about that person or organization. If your organization is notable enough, someone else will eventually create it for you.
An alternative you might consider is that since you are a subsidiary of ProQuest, you might suggest expansions to that article. Your conflict of interest still applies, so the accepted course is to go to the article's talk page, identify yourself and your interests, and give the regular editors of the article some sources that they can use to add additional material to the article.
I hope that this answers any questions you may have. Thanks again for writing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 22:32, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That sound like a very interesting bit of software. For a subject to be included in the encyclopedia, however, it has to meet our notability requirements. Basically the information has to be verifiable by reliable third party sources. If the software meets the requirements, you'll still need to create an account to be able to create the article because non-logged in users aren't permitted to create articles, thought they are allowed to edit existing articles. Airline Ratings

[edit]

I think jetblue is the best. Ygb6147 00:58, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be very difficult to get an article about airline ratings to pass muster in terms of the Neutral point of view and Verifiability policies. You could add information to individual airline articles about how a reliable source rated them, if you cite the information when you add it. You can't just give your own opinion because Wikipedia has a strict policy barring original research. Thanks for your post and happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 01:43, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Addendum: You may have more luck proposing this at Wikitravel. Their policy is to "Be Fair" not neutral as we are here. Good luck! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:25, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fast Sam, Cool Clyde, and Stuff

[edit]

I have never created an article before and it's kind of confusing. I recently read a book called Fast Sam, Cool Clyde, and Stuff byt Walter Dean Myers. I would gladly accept and be grateful for any help people can give on creating a page for this book. Thank You! 24.46.63.35—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.46.63.35 (talkcontribs) 02:55, 1 June 2007

Hello and sorry for the delay in this reply.
I'm sure that it is a very interesting book. Before adding an article to the encyclopedia you should make sure that it meets the relevent notability guidelines. Basically the information about a subject should be verifiable by non-trivial mention in multiple, third party reliable sources that can then be cited in an article. There are some other possible criteria in the policy I linked to also. If you can meet the criteria in the guideline, please stop back and we'll dicuss it some more. Cheers! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 01:51, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fernieside Football Club

[edit]

Afternoon,

I would like to create a page for the above after having a few deleted this morning. Other teams in our league have a page (Heriot Vale for example) and we would like one too.

Please reply and let me know your thoughts,

Hello and thank you for writing and my apologies for the delay in this reply.
It can be very frustrating to see an article you've worked on get deleted, the key is to understand why things get deleted so you can avoid it happening. (Disclaimer: following these rules doesn't guarantee that articles won't be deleted, but it does make it more unlikely)
To be included in the encyclopedia, a subject has to meet the relevant notability guidelines— basically an organization's information has to be verifiable by non-trivial mention in multiple third party reliable sources that can then by cited in the article.
The deletion log for the article you tried to create says that it was deleted for being non-notable, so evidently you didn't provide what I described above.
On another note, since you are evidently involved with this team, you should be aware of our conflict of interest guideline. You should avoid creating or editing articles on subjects that you have too close a relationship with. If the subject is indeed notable enough, someone will come along at some point and create it for you.
I hope I have addressed your concerns. Best of luck and happy editing! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 00:48, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Online Food Ordering

[edit]

Hi -- I don't see anything on Wikipedia that describes online food ordering. Could we start an article on that? I've written a quick stub below, but I want to get feedback from the community before I try to put it up:—Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonbrodsky (talkcontribs) 15:21, 13 June 2007

Online Food Ordering

[edit]

Online Food Ordering is a method of ordering food for delivery or pick-up from a restaurant off of a computer. This differs significantly from traditional methods of ordering food, such as using the telephone. Advantages of ordering food online include: a) convenience; b) clarity of order, which is sometimes lost over the telephone; and c) instant tracking of the delivery order.

Campusfood.com, founded by Michael Saunders, pioneered the space in 1997 [2], and it was joined in 1999 by SeamlessWeb and Delivery.com [3]. There are many other companies like MeroSys.com and Foodera.com that provide online food ordering, including the pizza chains Papa Johns and Pizza Hut as well as certain branches of the quick-serve chain Subway.

Hello. This does sound like a very interesting trend and topic. There isn't an article on this subject that I've been able to find, so it does have potential. You should make sure that you can meet the notability requirements by being able to verify the information using reliable sources that you can cite in the article. If you've got that, you're off to a good start. Please let us know how this does, I am interested. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 00:22, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i have searched a meaning for this word(cumbersome)..

 please update it...

Thanks for writing. The reason you can't find that entry is because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a dictionary. We do have a sister project, Wiktionary that IS a dictionary, and here's a link to cumbersome's article on that project. IQ Creations

[edit]

IQ Creations is a multimedia production company based in London Bridge. Since its inception in August 2001, the company has developed and produced a number of television programmes, television formats, and industry events in the UK and across most parts of Africa. In collaboration with organisations like Optima Sports, Endemol and Screen Nation and broadcasters ranging from the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), to BET (Black Entertainment Television) and NTA (Nigerian Television Authority), IQ Creations has played a role in developing local formats, magazine programmes and securing rights to screen exclusive content to audiences in the UK as well as across Europe and Africa. Amongst IQ Creations’ portfolio of projects are the FIFA World Cup (Germany 2006), Big Brother Nigeria (2005), Screen Nation Awards (2004) and Nights to Remember (2004, 2005, 2006).—Preceding unsigned comment added by [[User:[redacted]|[redacted]]] ([[User talk:[redacted]|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/[redacted]|contribs]]) 08:38, 27 June 2007

That sounds like a very interesting company. Before you start an article, though, you should make sure that the organization meets the relevant notability requirement for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Basically the organization has to have been written about non-trivially in multiple reliable third party sources for verification. If you think the article meets the requirements, go ahead and start it— but be sure to cite your sources in the article.
Judging from the tone of your note, I would hazard a guess that you are associated with this organization. If that is indeed the case I'd recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. In a nutshell, if you are personally involved with somebody or something, you should avoid creating or editing articles on that subject.
Thanks for writing and happy editing. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 23:10, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Necronomicon

[edit]

Would it be alright to add an article about a fictional plot devise often used in horror fiction? The one I am thinking about is the book called the Necronomicon. It appears in the Army of Darkness series, the moved the Unnamable, and many others. It has also been parodied in its own right.

I would like what resources people would like to add. Thank you. Corrupt one 02:13, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.

BhillyCastro 13:41, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There doesn't seem to be an existing article for this person and the sources listed certainly seem to be enough for the subject to pass the notability guidelines. I assume that the external links are actually references? If so, they should be formatted per the citation guideline; myself I prefer footnotes. I do wonder, though, because of the mutual editing history of the two accounts, if you are not the same person as Judgefloro (talk · contribs). If so, you should read our policy on having multiple accounts; then, dependent on whether or not you are the actual Judge Floro, you should read the conflict of interest policy or our policy on inappropriate usernames. I think this subject has potential to be a nice article. Happy editing. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 23:47, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Elipongo,

Thanks. No, we are not the same person as you will notice on our IP address. Yes, external links are references. Judge Floro, won the judge of the year 2006, http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/law/public/article657588.ece, and i think also, judge floro have a place also in wikipedia. Looking forward for the new article.

BhillyCastro 03:36, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I must note that this qualification for "judge of the year" is a quite misleading statement - he was "judge of the year" for judicial "whiny garbage" conduct and being fired by the Filipino courts. While our biographies of living persons guidelines apply, this would probably still have to be mentioned in the article. The Evil Spartan 17:22, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
