Function details: This task is to fix 12 substed templates listed in User:MalnadachBot/Task 10. All of them have at least one deletable table tag, which is a high priority Lint error. Some of the templates have other Lint errors too, which will be fixed in the same edit. Replacements will be done using AWB's find and replace advanced settings. Most of the edits will be in User talk and User namespaces.
Discussion
[edit]Comment: This looks like a routine task that this bot operator has handled well in the past. I wonder if the operator would consider fixing this pattern as well. I did a search and found only 16 of them, but the search timed out, so there may be more. – Jonesey95 (talk) 14:35, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- To elaborate on this task a bit, most of the patterns that give deletable table tag error which are present in a large number of pages have been fixed in bot task 5, 6 and 8. The Firefly Linter count currently shows 16,400 table tag errors across namespaces. Fixing the 12 templates in this task will bring the number down to 12,000. I expect about half of the remaining ones will have to be fixed on a case by case basis and cannot be automated. The other half would be like the example above that are present in less number of pages. Though they can be fixed by bot, it is not feasible to ask for approval for each of the patterns because of long tail problem. So I would request BAG to approve this task for all deletable table tag errors caused by substed templates. I have experience fixing this both by this bot and from my main account. ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ (talk) 05:55, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I would support this request. We are going to come across many substed templates with this error that have been substed on only a dozen or two dozen pages. It is impractical to go back to BRFA for each one that we come across. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:52, 2 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Approved for trial (100 edits). Please provide a link to the relevant contributions and/or diffs when the trial is complete. (Not restricted to specific templates). – SD0001 (talk) 10:23, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Trial complete. Result. I have done 10 edits per the first 10 templates listed in task page and noted the number in edit summary. ಮಲ್ನಾಡಾಚ್ ಕೊಂಕ್ಣೊ (talk) 12:39, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
