Wetland virus or WELV is an Orthonairovirus that infects humans. Symptoms are fever, headache, dizziness, malaise, arthritis and less commonly petechiae, localized lymphadenopathy. Complications may include neurological symptoms.[1]
WELV may be carried by ticks Haemaphysalis concinna.
Signs and symptoms
[edit]Symptoms of infection with the Wetland virus are fever, headache, dizziness, malaise, myalgia (muscle pain), arthritis, and back pain. Less commonly there are petechiae and localized lymphadenopathy.[1] One patient has been identified as also having Neurological symptoms.[1]
Cause
[edit]The Wetland virus orthonairovirus (WELV) is a member of the genus Orthonairovirus, family Nairoviridae[1] of RNA viruses.[citation needed]
Transmission
[edit]The Wetland virus (WELV) may be spread by ticks Haemaphysalis concinna.[1]
