Wallis Debourou

Wallis Debourou (born June 18, 1993) is a retired Beninese footballer who played for the Benin National Football Team from years 2017 to 2019. Debourou has also represented Benin at the international level.

Early life and education

Debourou was born in France to Beninese parents and raised in Benin. He holds dual citizenship. He attended Blair Academy in New Jersey, United States, and later played collegiate football at Saint Francis University[1] in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and at Cleveland State University in the Horizon League.

Football career

Debourou was selected to represent Benin at the 2013 African U-20 Championship as a member of the U20 national team. His participation highlighted his potential at the youth international level.

After completing his education, Debourou played for Les Buffles Du Borgou, one of Benin's top clubs. He contributed to the club's success in winning the 2014 Benin Premier League title and represented the team in the CAF Champions League.

Debourou made his senior debut for the Benin National Team on October 10, 2017, this was during a friendly match against the Gabon National Football Team.

His professional career ended in 2019 following an Achilles tendon injury.[2]

Post-football career

Following his retirement from professional football, Debourou established two football academies: the East Orange Soccer Academy (EOSA) and the Elite Footy Academy. These academies focus on providing technical training and development opportunities for young players. Debourou has also served as a youth coach, where he emphasizes the importance of teamwork, discipline, and skill development.[3]
