WMHZ-FM

WMHZ-FM is a radio station in Chicopee, Massachusetts on 107.5 MHz FM and 1500 KHz AM. It is called "107.5 The Eagle". WMHZ-FM broadcasts its format as a variety based format.

History

WMHZ-FM started as a test station of a small FM transmitter on 93.5, but it was a 12 hour station where it signed off at night, and continued its programming at 10:00 AM. It used to be all hip hop type music. That’s where the branding comes in as Hot 93.5. It still continued its hip hop format. Until late 2023 when it switched to variety format, with the call letters coming in early 2024. It also used to have Christmas music from November to January 1st. The call letters were WAQB-FM, later in late 2024 becoming WMHZ-FM. It was changed to a 24 hour station after a test of it being 2024. It stopped Christmas music but remained its variety format. It moved to 87.9 shortly after. It remained it being on 87.9 until it now has its 1500 AM frequency but never remain on the air. Until October and half of November when it switched to 107.5, and then for a short while it was on 107.1 when all FM translators signed off the air for good, after a once again test. And then its Christmas music was discontinued as 107.1 And then on Christmas Day it will be on 107.5 as a more powerful signal. The TV station launched in Mid July as WMHZ-TV RF 38, UHF 42. As an independent station in Chicopee Massachusetts as a competitor of WWAX-LD in Hartford CT. The TV station opened up as a wave of entertainment. It opened up several translators, such as Channel 38, Channel 47, and channel 64 for those living in the rural areas who can’t pick up the main signal. The only TV translator is W42DE WMHZ-TV simulcast in Otis MA because all of the other TV translators shut down in Late 2024.
