Vinayak Pai (born 19 September 1966[1][2]) is an Indian businessperson. He is managing director and CEO of Tata Projects, an engineering, procurement, and construction company that is part of the Tata Group.[3][4][5][6][1][7][8]

Education

Pai obtained a degree in BE (electrical engineering) from the College of Engineering, Pune.[9] He also holds a post-graduate degree in management from Symbiosis, Pune and an Executive MBA program from IIT Bombay's Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management in 2004.[10]

Pai is the president of Construction Federation of India National Council.[11][12] He is the Vice-Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Maharashtra and Chairman of the National Committee of Roads & Highways.[13][14] He is also on the Board of Governors of Construction Industry Development Council and First Construction Council of India and is the Chairman - Board of Governance, COEP Technological University, Pune.[15][16][17]

Career

Pai started his career with Aker Solutions as a trainee engineer in 1987 and served 25 years. His last position in Aker Solutions was Director of Operations. Subsequently, Pai served as the President of Jacobs' global Energy Chemicals and Resources (ECR) business in December 2017, based in Houston, United States. Under his leadership, the business operated in over 25 countries, and employed 25,000 global professionals.[18][19] Later, he took on the role of Global Group President of Worley's Energy and Chemical Services business in May 2019, where he managed operations across 49 countries, leading a team of 30,000 employees.[20] In this role, he navigated challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.[21][22] In 2022, Pai joined Tata Projects as the Managing Director and CEO.[23][24][25][26][27][28]

  • MMRDA Commissioner conferred Vinayak Pai, MD - Tata Projects  with Hall of Fame award for Industry Leader at the 12th Construction Week Awards 2022.[29][30]
  • Recognized with COEP Abhimaan Award by College of Engineering in Pune 2022.[31]
  • Recognized with 15th CIDC Vishwakarma Doyen of the Industry 2024 award [32]
