Venkatesan Sundaresan (born 1952) is an Indian academic who is serving as a professor in the Departments of Plant Biology and Plant Sciences at the University of California, Davis.[1] His research focuses on plant reproduction, including using synthetic apomixis to clone hybrid strains of commercial crops like rice and maize.[2][3] Sundaresan was inducted into the National Academy of Sciences in 2023[4] and received the 2024 Wolf Prize in Agriculture "for key discoveries on plant developmental biology of relevance to crop improvement".[5]
