Vangelis Raptopoulos[1] (Greek: Βαγγέλης Ραπτόπουλος; born 1959, Athens, Greece) is a Greek novelist and considered a part of the "1980s generation".[2]

Career

His first work In Pieces was published in 1979, at the age of 20.[2] His first two books have been adapted for the television,[3][4][5][6][7][8] Loula, Black Wedding and The Invention of Reality have been adapted for the theater,[9][10] while The Bachelor and Lesbian were brought to the screen.[11][12][13] The Cicadas came out in English[14] and The Incredible Story of Pope Joan in Italian.[15] He has published more than 30 books.[16]

He has worked as a consultant in Greek publishing houses, a scenario consultant on various television channels, a newspaper columnist, a screenwriter,[17] a producer and speaker on radio programs;[18][19] he teaches Creative Writing at the Hellenic Open University as an adjunct lecturer. His personal archive has been donated to the Gennadius Library.[20][21]
