Notability of Kevin Lipsitz
[edit]A tag has been placed on Kevin Lipsitz, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Anonymous DissidentTalk -- (dated 16:35, 21 June 2007 UTC)
- Hi. The reason I have asked for this page to be deleted is because it fails a policy here on wikipedia about notability. I'm sorry, but thats why your article is being requested to be deleted. Im sorry if you are new, but please dont be discouraged; if you continue editing, after reading some policy, I'm sure you wont have this problem again. Yours, -- Anonymous DissidentTalk -- (dated 16:45, 21 June 2007 UTC)
- You have a point. But the two articles about these competitve eaters have fundamental differences -- your article is not sourced and does not actually assert the subject's notability, while the article on the other person your pointed out does have sources and clearly asserts the subject's notability. I nominated it for speedy deletion because, from the way your article was written, it was written like alot of the silly garbage people create - articles about themselves. Read why it is up deletion. It is an article about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or website that does not assert the importance or significance of the subject. - Excellent! You have no idea how significant this is - it is very rare that when I ask people to slow down, read the policies and try and get a grasp on how Wikipedia works that they actually do it. I congratulate you on your patience, and for reading the policies. Now, back to the business - it seems that this is good - you are trying to find sources, assert notability and clean the article up. You expressed your concerns about the article being deleted. It wont be, because the article has that hangon tag on it. So your time is limited, but your article wont be deleted for a reasonable period of time. I wish you luck with the article, and I think you should know that knowing the policies comes very in-hand all throughout your time on Wikipedia.
