Another request

I feel bad asking you for all these vectorizations, but you're the best I know and are exceptionally quick; let me know if I'm being over the top. I took a photo of the New Netherland seal at a museum and was hoping you can SVG-ify it like you did for the seal of Troy. This needs to replace the crappy version that is currently used. Ignore the red, make everything black. Don't make the letters into a font, keep them as shapes (keeps the historical value). Thanks so much! wadester16 05:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

No no, you're nowhere near over the top :-) Do you want it "fixed style", "old", a little something something...? ZooFari 15:56, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Old style, definitely. wadester16 17:54, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I made one identical to your raster. Fixed means perfect circles. Let me know if you want that or this one is okay for you. ZooFari 18:15, 31 July 2009 (UTC)
Perfect. wadester16 18:14, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

A talk page is a space for editors to discuss improvements to articles and other pages. Calling an article shit without specifics and saying that they aren't going to edit does not qualify. I'm not going to revert you, but disagree 100% that my removal was "inappropriate" and that there was any useful "feedback" in the section to begin with. --OnoremDil 17:55, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps I went off in my summary. Unless it is vandalism, please archive them manually rather than removing them. ZooFari 18:13, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't see the point in archiving discussion that has nothing to do with article improvement. Oh well, thank you for moving it off the current talk page in any case. --OnoremDil 18:18, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Vector, please

Well, since I'm not yet over the top (;-)), mind doing this up? TY! wadester16 19:03, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Done and late, sorry! I had wireless problems and I will probably be gone for a while. How's that? ZooFari 03:28, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Late = no such thing. Where are you going? Vacation????? wadester16 03:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
No, it is just connection problems, but I'll be heading to the beach this weekend so you might not hear from me much. Feel free to keep requesting though, as I'm pretty sure I'll have access there ;-) ZooFari 03:58, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Delisting portals

Indeed, that portal sure looks like a disaster! (no pun intended) You can nominate such portals on Wikipedia:Featured portal review OhanaUnitedTalk page 15:54, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks!

I apologize if I'm doing this (contacting you) incorrectly, but thanks for letting me know how to sign my posts! I suppose it'd be a good idea for me to read more into Wikipedia's guidelines, though I don't plan on more than the occasional editing of articles. 97.82.30.62 (talk) 07:37, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

SVG question

Hi there! I've been creating a few SVG graphics here in there for articles I'm working on. The problem is, the right border of all of them seems to get cut off when they display. If you click to the image itself, it's fine, and the file I'm working with is fine, but they display oddly on Wikipedia. Any ideas? JKBrooks85 (talk) 10:39, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

I had this problem not too long ago. I believe the problem here is that the title is not appropriate (you used Impact font) and is now rendering as another font. First, I don't recommend the use of a title and legend in cluttered graphs. But if you wish to keep them, use Arial for all the text. You can also use bold words, but do not use the font Arial Bold. Try to change them all to Arial and it should fix the problem. ZooFari 16:11, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! JKBrooks85 (talk) 22:01, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Bit of a creative vector request

Hey Zoo: I'd like a logo for WP:NYCD and I think an outline of the Empire State Plaza would work, which is common for local organizations. Unfortunately, I can't think of one that I could give as an example. However File:EmpirePlaza16.jpg gives a good place to start. What are the chances you could do an outline of the tall buildings (ignoring the KeyBank building in the front right and the brick building in front of the Corning Tower: so basically that's the Corning Tower, the 4 Agency buildings, and The Egg). Unfortunately The Egg (building) is covered up by the KeyBank building, but I think based on other images of the building you could guess the shape. Where the egg overlaps other buildings, include a white line between, like on File:Brunswick logo.svg. The buildings should be all black (outline and fill) and the bottom should just be a rectangle with four arches cut out at the bottom like are shown in File:EmpirePlaza19.jpg or File:Empire State Plaza from street.jpg (these images also show the egg at different angles; the second image is closer to the angle that should be used in the end result). This could be a really cool product: let me know if you're up to the challenge. I trust your instincts and skills with the mouse! :-) wadester16 04:01, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

A case study, but not quite what I want. Prefer you actually trace the buildings in the first image I mention, then make the angles and line perfect, etc. But just so you have an idea. wadester16 04:07, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Pending. I'll work on it offline and I'll be sure to have it done before my wikibreak ;-) ZooFari 15:11, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Done. Not what you were expecting, but black fills looked awful. I made it more sophisticated (hence you said to be creative) so here you go! How is it? ZooFari 21:16, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Holy SHIT dude! That's nothing short of amazing, man! Can't thank you enough, Master Vector! One thing: second small tower from right is a tad short. wadester16 22:23, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Fixed along with another issue I found. ZooFari 22:34, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Perfect. wadester16 22:44, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Are you busy?

If you are, then never mind. I was wondering if you could help me look over an editors article(Don't worry, the user knows) before he/she puts it out. You know, to see if it fits in notablility and stuff, because I'm sure you know more about it than I do.Abce2|Aww nuts!Wribbit!(Sign here) 21:25, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Nope, I just got done with my tasks. So what do you need checked up? ZooFari 21:27, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
This article. User:OMGILOVEPEAS/Sarey Savy (Singer-Songwriter)I'm not sure if it does fit it notablility though.Abce2|Aww nuts!Wribbit!(Sign here) 21:29, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Notability is very weak for this BLP. Google News show very, very little results and most of those searches aren't "official". The only notable subject is that she appeared in America's Got Talent, which is not enough for WP:NOTABILITY. It is too soon to think she is notable, so I suggest waiting. You never know if this girl goes over the top someday. ZooFari 21:44, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I told the original writer about that. By the way, could you tell what I could improve on the Earwig article while it's waiting in GAN, if your not busy? I guess you could saying I'm a newbie when it comes to reveiwing.Abce2|Aww nuts!Wribbit!(Sign here) 22:02, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
Well I did spot this line from the intro: Earwigs are found around the world. It should be rephrased to something more realistic that won't contribute to WP:WEASEL. They aren't found in the ocean or Antarctica, are they? :-) ZooFari 22:14, 6 August 2009 (UTC)\
Ok, anything else just tell me on my talk page, I've have to log off now. But most likely I will be back later.Abce2|Aww nuts!Wribbit!(Sign here) 22:17, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey Zoofari this is OMGILOVEPEAS. I was wondering how come Ali Lohan's Wikipedia is notable but the one i'm creating is not? (OMGILOVEPEAS (talk) 03:27, 7 August 2009 (UTC))

See this page. It is the results of Google News. Compare it to Sarey Savy's results. I believe she/he made only 2 appearances, including America's got talent which isn't enough notability. Ali made much more appearances and has a much larger discography than Savy's. ZooFari 03:49, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick revert on my user page!

Page design

Heck yeah, your user page design rocks. Only minor suggestion I'd have is to center the layout on the page. Otherwise, genius. 84.44.253.162 (talk) 02:04, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

I just removed a userpage from the HoF which was added by the user themselves and which isn't original nor well-designed imho. Btw, I used to be this guy. 84.44.253.162 (talk) 02:15, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, that HoF needs cleanup. So why did you decide to leave your account? ZooFari 02:17, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Deletion Request

For administrators: I need your help deleting these files under CSD#f8. Thank you!

Please tag each file separately; different admins may work on individual files and there should be a history associated with each deletion individually rather than as a group. (I'm not saying it couldn't be done this way, but it's unusual and there's no real reason not to tag them individually.)  Frank  |  talk  17:32, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
See your talk. I don't think it is a good idea. ZooFari 17:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Each file will have to be evaluated individually; if they are tagged as a group, it will be more difficult to avoid having different admins stepping all over each others' work. If they are tagged individually, any admin can look at any file, make a determination, and act accordingly, without worrying about an entire list. There is nothing unusual that would require them to be considered as a group, and I don't see any economy of scale in deleting a group at a time, since I don't know any way to do it other than individually anyway. That's my take on it; if you can find an admin who wants to delete a whole list of files wholesale, that's fine with me, and I'd also be interested in a method that allows multiple deletions that is enabled on en.wiki.  Frank  |  talk  17:36, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
And it looks like a couple of others who have more experience with images than I do are taking up the task.  Frank  |  talk  17:42, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Alright, I'll tag them all. I hope I don't get a complaint later though (It'll be much more than you think). Cheers, ZooFari 17:52, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
I've noted above that some other admins seem willing and knowledgeable enough to do it from a list. If they agree, I don't object; it just wouldn't be my way of doing it.  Frank  |  talk  17:56, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Eh, I heard that some admins use pop-ups to delete rapidly so I assumed a list would be more convenient. But don't sweat it :-) ZooFari 18:08, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm not usually an image CSD admin, but I'm getting all of the images by stalking your contribs page which will help with the backlog at CAT:SD. Best, JamieS93 be kind to newcomers 19:17, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
Okay sounds good. It's given me something to do today, so I actually don't mind. ;) I might not get to all of them, but at least I'll see your contribs and start up some deletion again. JamieS93 be kind to newcomers 20:42, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

September 11 Attacks

Thank you for your comment on my contribution to the September 11 Attacks article. I'm a senior lecturer at a university in the UK. I include a lecture on 9/11 as part of a philosophy course I lead to illustrate the contested and constructed nature of knowledge and truth. I am well aware of the key issues raised by 9/11, and the contested nature of 'truth' on this subject. The current article does not provide balanced coverage of key claims about 9/11. It is the lack of awareness about the contested nature of events on September 11 that makes the current article weak. Many citations in the current article are based on press reports (these are poor quality when compared to peer-reviewed journal articles). My new contributions to the article are based on peer-reviewed journal articles and there cannot, therefore, be any justifiable reason for omitting them from the main article.

The current set of changes, therefore, counter bias in the article and ensure that overall it is written from a neutral point of view. I have not removed any existing material to ensure that existing views remain (I'm not censoring others points of view, even though the press sources used are of low credibility). I've added well-documented perspectives, supported by the work of relevant academics, that challenge some of the claims currently made. This should not be censored. The only neutral course of action in these circumstances is to report the contested nature of claims on this subject.

I assert strongly that there is no 'bias' in reporting that there are court cases and journal articles that question the version of truth presented in the current article. These are matters of fact, not opinion, and it distorts understanding to omit this fact from the article and give the impression that the statements are uncontested. No judgement is made on the which version of the truth is more 'true' - the edits simply make people aware that the events described are contested by credible contributions to the debate about September 11.

I notice that many articles on Wikipedia are flagged for "bias". If there is a further attempt to reverse my contributions, I would like to flag the article for "bias" so other contributors can ensure it is more balanced.

Best wishes Dr Rory Ridley-Duff —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roryridleyduff (talkcontribs) 18:57, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
