Information icon Hello, Zenda1945. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Melges 24, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Melges 24 shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - Ahunt (talk) 14:29, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Zenda1945. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Melges 15, you may have a conflict of interest (COI).

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Melges 24, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. Information icon Hello, I'm Ahunt. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Melges 15 have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. - Ahunt (talk) 14:59, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

These are objective edits to reflect the factual, most current information. You are preventing updates as you see fit when you are not the authority or expert on these subjects. Zenda1945 (talk) 17:03, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You have declared a conflict of interest on the series of articles dealing with Melges sailboats. You need to stop edit warring to to add promotional material and instead propose changes on the article's talk page, so they can be assessed by editors who do not represent the manufacturer. Continued edit-warring and adding promotional material will just result in a block of your account. - Ahunt (talk) 17:11, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not edit warring when you're sharing outdated information and representing the design falsely. You should be citing the actual builder's information instead of editorial pages when creating content. Zenda1945 (talk) 17:15, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is not your company website and our role is not to sell boats for you. As an encyclopedia, we prefer independent third party references over WP:PRIMARY sources. As explained at WP:COI you need to stop editing these articles about your company's products and instead request changes, with references, on each article's talk pages. - Ahunt (talk) 17:35, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Do you work for Wikipedia? Zenda1945 (talk) 17:44, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Very few people here are paid employees and the paid employees don;t write or edit articles. Like millions here, I am a volunteer editor. That said, I have been here 18 years and have a pretty good grasp of the rules. I have asked an administrator to look at the this case, so hopefully he will be long shortly, with some sage words. - Ahunt (talk) 17:49, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Melges

[edit]

I have fully protected Melges 24 for a week due to the edit war and reverted to before the edit war. Make proposals on the talk page. As you are employed by the company, here, I have blocked you from editing Melges 24 and Melges 15. You can still edit the talk pages. You have reverted it to false information! The photo isn’t even a Melges 24 -it’s a J/70 - and 867 boats have been built. AHunt is just upset that we are correcting him. We are experts in this subject matter and fixing the facts - not objectively adding promotional information. Zenda1945 (talk) 19:08, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You work for the company and are being paid. You can suggest edits on the talk page but don't edit the article. And when you suggest edits don't forget to provide sources that are independent of the company. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 23:24, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
