WikiProject Final Fantasy

[edit]

Well, I've cobbled a project page together Wikipedia:WikiProject Final Fantasy. Feel free to mosey on over, sign up, and make your voice heard! – Seancdaug July 6, 2005 03:53 (UTC)

Images etc

[edit]

In reply: Ah sorry. I didn't realise. I was on a mission and was just mowing on over articles with templates. I was just putting placeholders up, but if you have an image that could fit the slot better, please change it :) — Cuahl 7 July 2005 14:08 (UTC)

  • I wasn't sure what you were doing on Irvine's article - sorry - but I threw in my infobox like I was planning on doing. Let me know what you were doing and I'll have a go. — Cuahl 7 July 2005 14:15 (UTC)
  • Don't worry. I had a template that I was copying and pasting. Plus, the template would only allow one specific filename which I couldn't change for ecah character, so I thought I'd set the standard which could be updated by others. I have time later where I'll file duplicates for deletion — Cuahl 7 July 2005 14:23 (UTC)
    • re: You doing FFVI - excellent, if you need any help, let me know on my talk page — Cuahl 7 July 2005 15:04 (UTC)

duncan

[edit]

Re:I was looking at the 2 highlander shots you added the copyright tags to. The shot in particular, Image:Duncan.gif, does not seem like a screen shot to me at all. I think it needs some sort of other tag

-- i don't know what kind of other tag, this is new for me...maybe you can help me? i've been reading the templates, and it's pretty confusing 'cause english my second language. i got the images from various websites years ago, i don't even remember where did i get the image. if you could just help editing the article and images, that would be great. thanks. HoneyBee 7 July 2005 15:29 (UTC)

re:duncan

[edit]

hmm. best bet i can think of is finding the websites you got them from. then maybe we might be able to list them with a proper tag that wont have them deleted. if not, we might have to delete them and find new images. best i can tell you right now, if you have any other questions just let me know. --ZeWrestler 7 July 2005 15:38 (UTC)

there are many websites that provides the (same) images...i think i got it from here: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Film/2317/index.html but i'm not sure either. so, what tags i should put when i put new images, let just say from this website? any kind of help for editing would be appreciate it, thanks. King Cotton

[edit]

It was Falphin who suggested a nomination at Southern COTW, not me, but I was about to suggest it. I just don't think it makes much sense to nominate an article at two COTWs at the same time, but now that it's already happened, I'll support and we'll see whether it makes it.--Fenice 7 July 2005 16:31 (UTC)

FPC David Draiman

[edit]

Hi Ze,

I've just closed your nomination of David Draiman on WP:FPC. As you probably already realise, the general consensus was against promoting the picture to featured pictures. But take heart; although the raw voting figures look fairly black, most people were objecting on technical grounds. If people really don't like a picture, or just aren't interested, it tends not to get many votes. -- Solipsist 7 July 2005 19:45 (UTC)

I would be interested in your input. If you want to discuss it please go here. Thanks Falphin 01:10, 10 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A question

[edit]

I was just wondering the reasoning behind having AID on article page, and COTW on talk page. Don't feel obligated to respond, I'm just curious. Thanks. Falphin 22:41, 10 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, ZeWrestler. I saw that you placed the above image up on Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Just a note: truly binary duplicate images (i.e. completely unedited, exact same file size, etc.) don't need to be voted on: they can be listed for speedy deletion by puting {{db|reason}} on the page in place of {{ifd}} (with the reason being, in this case "OB by Image:Irvine Kinneas shot.jpg. – Seancdaug 03:11, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

CSD Proposal 7

[edit]

I'll think about your request although it may be academic: the proposal is currently running at 49% approval and needs 70% to pass. David | Talk 14:18, 11 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

TFD discussion

[edit]

That would be here: Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/Not_deleted/July_2005. Radiant_>|< 12:49, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

Introduced as a generic sword-fighting hero, the character was typical of fantasy adventure games.

The article clearly states he's from an adventure game. I think you have a different definition of RPG than the rest of the people who are voting. You take the role of a character in most games, but RPGs focus on completely different things and MMORPGs and MUDs are clearly defined. Besides, Link is mention as an adventure game character in Legend of Zelda and is also the subject of his own game. That should show importance outside the odd RPG he may be involved in. - Mgm|(talk) 17:59, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

  • Now, Final Fantasy characters created by the game designers is a much better argument. Hence, I changed to oppose the idea until it's rephrased to only focus on player created characters. - Mgm|(talk) 18:40, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

POGs on FPC

[edit]

Hi Ze,

Can you clarify whether you are actually wanting to withdraw your FPC nomination at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Image:Pog Collection.jpg. Since your comment is phrased as a question, I guess you are still looking for input.

I should also say I found the picture quite useful. I recall an episode of The Simpsons in which someone tries to but an expensive POG from Comic Book Guy, and I was never quite clear as to what a POG was. Now I know. -- Solipsist 12:21, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

by the way, which simpsons episode are you refering too. (i'm a big simpsons fan) --ZeWrestler 14:11, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not really sure, but a Google search suggests it might be "2F32: 'Round Springfield" in which Lisa is trying to get hold of a record by Bleeding Gums Murphy to play it on the radio. It includes the line "Behold, the ultimate pog!" -- Solipsist 00:52, 17 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

barn stars

[edit]

by the way, i've been meaning to ask how one goes about earning barn stars? --ZeWrestler 14:13, 16 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Officially hard work and due diligence. But really there's no specific way - someone just decides they like what you do and awards you one. There are quite a lot of barnstars now, so there are all sorts of reasons someone might give you one. As you probably already know, once you've been around for a while, you begin to recognise several editors who are always appearing on your watch list making impressive edits. When someone makes consistently good edits in some area, or spends a fair bit of effort sorting out some thankless task on Wikipedia you might consider awarding them an appropriate barnstar.
Personally, I like to spend a bit of time each week thinking of someone I can send some Wikilove. Its not often a barnstar, but usually just a note to say 'I noticed a good edit you made', such as [1].
Start out small; try thinking of someone you can send a WikiThanks. You can copy the layout formatting from a page where someone has already been awarded one. Talking about it, I've just thought of someone who has been doing piles of work on art related subjects this year - I should probably award them an appropriate barnstar tomorrow. -- Solipsist 01:39, 17 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

re: Final Fantasy 6 wins — I'm not surprised to be honest. I would have voted for FFVI too if I didn't want to stand out so darn much (I mean come on, look at my comment for FFVII :P). Sure I'll take a look at it when I get a free minute. Life's gone hectic at the moment, and I don't get much of my free time to myself. But in a couple of days I'll be back on the 'pedia. — Cuahl 16:18, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sig

[edit]

I wondered that too for a while. There's no way I'd type that manually every time, so yes, there is a shortcut. If you want your sig like mine, ask me for more detailed instructions. For now I'll tell you that it is in prefereces under nicknames. Howabout1 Talk to me! 17:42, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

What do you want. You can make it a different color, have a link to your talk at the end, or make it look exactly like mine. Howabout1 Talk to me! 17:46, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Ok. Go to preferences at the top of your screen. If you want your sig to look like [[C|Talk, just with talk being a link, type ZeWrestler]]|[[user talk:ZeWrestler|Talk in the bar. Remember to check the box that says raw signatures, then save your prefenences. That's one thing, if you want colors in it, ask me again. Howabout1 Talk to me! 17:53, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

For the whole thing green, put <span style="color:green">ZeWrestler</span>]]|[[user talk:ZeWrestler|<span style="color:green">Talk</span>. Howabout1 Talk to me! 18:08, July 19, 2005 (UTC)

Oh, geez, I'm really sorry to hear about that. Of course I'll take care of things. I hope you're doing all right, and wish you a fast recovery. Take it easy! – Seancdaug 15:23, July 20, 2005 (UTC)

re: Heads up — If I was in your situation I wouldn't let Wikipedia be a concern for the time being. Get yourself patched up and everything will be here when you come back. Take as long as you need, this place will be here when you can come back. Hope you're feeling better soon, Ze. — Cuahl 23:38, 20 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback. For the Image:Phishing-Email-Image-Bank2.png, i think the screenshot fairuse tag you included is okay. I forgot to add any tags when uploading the file (hehe... =)

Once again thanks =) Debroglie 04:59, 21 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've just listed the artcile on FAC. Thanks for your help and questions, your questions were really useful to help me identify things that needed to be explained more clearly. --nixie 06:32, 22 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
