Please, stop messing with the transliteration. The reconstructed name of the first letter of the Proto-Canaanite alphabet is not “ʾāleph”. Proto-Canaanite did not even have any ph. The Semitic tranliteration in which the name is written in the first sentence does not recognize any ph digraph either. The ph in English got there from the Hebrew form, which is a result of a sound change in this language, and is duly noted later in the same sentence.—Emil J. 16:31, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
