Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Yuting Wang, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes on additions

[edit]

Hi! It looks like your edits were largely or wholly removed from the article by Tenebrae for a variety of reasons. From what I can see, here were the things that stood out the most:

  • Be careful about sourcing your content. Some of the claims weren't sourced and anything unsourced can be challenged and removed. Make sure that all content is sourced with a reliable source that explicitly states the claims you're adding. Don't claim something that looks to be implied or inferred in the source - this is considered to be original research, which isn't allowed on Wikipedia. There's always the risk that we could read something into the source that wasn't intended, which can be especially problematic with biographies.
  • Make sure that you write in a neutral, encyclopedic style. Avoid flourishes, slang, narrative writing styles, and persuasive writing. While these things can make for an entertaining and atmospheric read, it doesn't fit Wikipedia's guidelines.
  • Watch out for formatting, as you need to make sure that only the things you want to be italicized are italicized.

I hope that this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:07, 7 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
