Initiative to use Module:Sports table and Module:Sports results for esports tournament articles
I just checked you are one of main contributors for esports season tournament articles. I've posted a message in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video games regarding the initiative to use the modules mentioned in the subject. Let me know if you have any comments. New Page Reviewer newsletter June 2020
Hello Yue,
- Your help can make a difference
NPP Sorting can be a great way to find pages needing new page patrolling that match your strengths and interests. Using ORES, it divides articles into topics such as Literature or Chemistry and on Geography. Take a look and see if you can find time to patrol a couple pages a day. With over 10,000 pages in the queue, the highest it's been since ACPERM, your help could really make a difference.
- Google Adds New Languages to Google Translate
In late February, Google added 5 new languages to Google Translate: Kinyarwanda, Odia (Oriya), Tatar, Turkmen and Uyghur. This expands our ability to find and evaluate sources in those languages.
- Discussions and Resources
- A discussion on handling new article creation by paid editors is ongoing at the Village Pump.
- Also at the Village Pump is a discussion about limiting participation at Articles for Deletion discussion.
- A proposed new speedy deletion criteria for certain kinds of redirects ended with no consensus.
- Also ending with no change was a proposal to change how we handle certain kinds of vector images.

Retroshare
Hey, thanks for putting Retroshare into speedy deletion, the true issue is that I would had wanted to Move RetroShare into Retroshare, as Retroshare is the proper name, please see Talk:Retroshare but since Retroshare already had REDIRECT, I was not able to move the article. Hopefully if Retroshare does get deleted, then I can finally move the article under correct name. Shinyrust (talk) 05:02, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Shinyrust: There are two possible outcomes (the decision of which will not be made by me):
- Retroshare is deleted to make way for a move.
- Retroshare is kept and changed back to a redirect, and so a request for a technical move would have to be made.
- The latter I can help with. CentreLeftRight ✉ 05:08, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- @CentreLeftRight: So it's time for the option 2? Shinyrust (talk) 13:48, 1 July 2020 (UTC)
- @Shinyrust: I have listed Retroshare under Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests as I do not think there is reasonable opposition against the move. If opposition against the move arises, it will be relisted manually by someone else under the subsection "Contested technical requests" and the move will be discussed on Retroshare's talk page. All the best, CentreLeftRight ✉ 03:50, 2 July 2020 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Yagan Memorial Park
Hello CentreLeftRight,
Recently you left a message on my talk page regarding marking the page 'Yagan Memorial Park' for deletion. I honestly do not remember making that page, nor what I would've made it for. As such, it is of no concern to me whether or not it is deleted. I see it violates Wikipedia's guidelines, so if you feel it needs to be deleted, do as you wish.
Kind regards, Stampyfanclub (aka Arrow Productions)

A draft reviewer (not me) will review the article and either approve or decline it. New Page Patrol December Newsletter
Hello Yue,
- Year in review
It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

- Reviewer of the Year
John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.
- NPP Technical Achievement Award
As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

2021 LCS season draft
Hi CentreLeftRight. I found your draft of the 2021 LCS season and updated things like league changes and current spring split standings. Is it ok if I move it into mainspace? Troutfarm27 (Talk) 01:10, 14 February 2021 (UTC)

Reliability of Chinese Government official Economic Statistics
The United States is an open society and a Democracy. China is a closed society and a communist dictatorship. Thus, official statistics published by the United States are generally reliable, as there is a democratic process which enforces accurate reporting, while official statistics published by the Chinese government are generally unreliable, as the political system of China is rife with corruption and there are perverse incentives encouraging inaccuracy. This is not a matter of dispute among scholars.Sbelknap (talk) 02:38, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Sbelknap: Those aren't official statistics from the US government though. It's the senior head of a US bank that made an estimate based on data made by two British economists, in which they estimated China's GDP based on the intensity of evening lights picked up from satellites. This methodology is unprecedented and needs to be widely accepted by other academics before it can be stated as fact. Adding additional citations referencing this research helps you build your argument. CentreLeftRight ✉ 02:48, 7 March 2021 (UTC)
- The Chinese government itself has conceded that its economic statistics are unreliable. You provide no RS contradicting this assertion from the *source* of the economic statistics, the Chinese government. Sbelknap (talk) 12:05, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Kuma, Myanmar
A tag has been placed on Kuma, Myanmar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer, or other unlikely search term.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. 173.68.165.114 (talk) 06:49, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

Left-wing terrorism revert
CentreLeftRight The Global Terrorism Database has 9 categories for "types of attack"
- Assassination
- Armed Assault
- Unarmed Assault
- Bombing/Explosion
- Hijacking
- Hostage taking (Barricade Incident)
- Hostage taking (Kidnapping)
- Facility / Infrastructure Attack
- Unknown
Hostage taking appears on the list. Here is an example of a barricade kidnapping event in that database: https://www.start.umd.edu/gtd/search/IncidentSummary.aspx?gtdid=199612200004
The kidnapping along with demands for concession align with terrorism.Nweil (talk) 19:57, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Nweil: All in a given context. GTD's list is of crimes commonly labeled as terrorism when they're done under a specific context (e.g. for ideological motivations, terroristic threats, against non-combatants in war, etc.), not an exclusive list of crimes that can/should be labeled as terrorism. Not every hostage taking is a terrorist attack. If a petty criminal kidnaps someone for a ransom, that's not terrorism because they aren't doing so for a political aim, it's because they want the ransom money. If Islamists kidnap UN personnel and government officials in Tajikistan and threaten to kill them all if their leader isn't released from prison, that's a completely different situation. There's a reason why terrorism charges weren't recommended by prosecutors, because they can't reasonably prove those charges in court. If no reliable source calls the incident a terrorist attack and the authorities don't call it a terrorist attack, then it's your own conclusion. Far-left crime you could argue, but far-left terrorism it was not. CentreLeftRight ✉ 20:11, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- @CentreLeftRight: Its very clear this was politically motivated and the group instigating it advocates an overthrow of the US government. The only leg you have to stand on is lies in the definition of terrorism. I would look no further than the Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping plot which is categorized as "Alt-right terrorism" "Failed terrorist attempts in the United States" "Far-right terrorism" and "Terrorist incidents in the United States in 2020". Politically motivated attempted kidnapping is terrorism regardless of whether it is successful or not. In fact, kidnapping is literally one of the "tactics of terrorism" listed in the sidebar of that page. Nweil (talk) 20:56, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Nweil: No, the leg I stand on is Wikipedia policy. If you have reliable sources calling the incident "terrorism", bring them to the discussion. Otherwise, it's original research. I have no interest in debating the definition or Wikipedia's coverage of "terrorism" with another editor on my user talk page. If you have reliable sources and think you have a good case, make your argument at Talk:Left-wing terrorism. If what you argue has merit and is in-line with Wikipedia policy, other editors will agree with you and an administrator will reinstate your edit as consensus. LoL roster merge
Hi. As you may already know, I have been working on rosters for esports articles, and I created roster templates that are more general than the LoL ones I created not too long ago. I was wondering if you would have any opposition to redirecting the Category:League of Legends roster templates to the new Category:Esports roster templates. I would like to do the same with the Category:Call of Duty League roster templates and Category:Overwatch League roster templates (although, the OWL ones have links for the roles, so I'm not sure of a good way to work around that yet). Pbrks (talk) 19:36, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Pbrks: Actually, I think those LoL templates and category were supposed to be deleted a while ago by another user after a consensus. I no longer create template pages for LoL rosters, I add the template code directly to the article. Thus, I don't really object to you merging the categories for LoL since they shouldn't exist anyways. However, I would prefer the LoL roster template being left as it is and kept separate from the esports roster template because the parameters aren't universal. Unlike other esports such as CS:GO and Rainbow Six, the role orders are listed in a specific order (Top - Jungle - Mid - Bot - Support) on all listings, including on the official LoL Esports website. I'd like to keep that order for the sortable option. Also, to my knowledge, two-way players aren't as common in other esports(?) so that's another reason I would object to a merger. I see the issue though, which is that 1. It's better to have a universal template and 2. For teams with multiple rosters, its better to state which roster it is per MOS guidelines. I can remedy the second point by adding it to the LoL roster default settings so that it always displays "[Team name] League of Legends roster" on the title bar. That's all my comments for now. All the best, CentreLeftRight ✉ 21:02, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
- Oh, no, I wasn't referring to the templates for specific LoL rosters (there don't seem to be any anyways, as you said). I was referring to the base LoL roster templates. I agree, these can just be put into the article directly. Like you said, I would like to have a universal roster template. For the sorting issue, IMO, I don't find this to be a very compelling argument to have nearly identical templates separate. There is, unfortunately, no good way I can think of to remedy the way it would sort; however, the template will, by default, list the players in the order that they are put in. So, the only time you would see Top - Jungle - Mid - Bot - Support not in order is if either the players were out-of-order to begin with, or you sort click on a column to sort it. In regards to the two-way players, this is a very easy fix. I can set it up so that if
game = League of Legends
, it will automatically include (2W) in the legend. I am going to ask some more experienced coders if there is a workaround to the sorting issue, but even if there is not, I hope you'll reconsider your stance on this. Pbrks (talk) 03:06, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

- @Pbrks: On second thought, I support the merger. Nevermind about the two-way player legend; I checked existing rosters and most professional LoL leagues have scrapped their two-way systems. CentreLeftRight ✉ 05:26, 13 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi, I see you added PP on 2019–20 Hong Kong protests recently. Some crazy edits are also going on again, and I did a large rollback. Maybe this needs to be moved to permanent. Seems after your PP expired on March 8th crazy edits started again and few or no other editors are monitoring. John Sudworth
Your argument is one I encounter every so often with respect to see also entries. I don't usually bother to argue, but it is wrong. The Manual of Style specifically says this section is for items which are *not* directly related. Please consider what you are saying: because the CCP has threatened so many people we are not going to take notice of *any* of them? I understand your point; as a Canadian I am well aware that two Canadian citizens are being detained for no good reason. However, see my point above. One reason to list Sudworth as opposed to anyone else in particular is that he is a journalist who writes for a platform widely considered very fine Impartial journalism. Elinruby (talk) 01:08, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Elinruby: The CCP expels a lot of foreign journalists from reputable news organisations. Last year the Chinese government expelled journalists from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post. John Sudworth writing for the BBC does not make him special. The only reason John Sudworth is notable right now is because he was expelled (recently) for his coverage of Xinjiang and the internment camps there. Without this context, the relevancy is unclear to an average reader, which is the main problem with just throwing it under the See also section. Thus, I have an alternate suggestion. Rather, John Sudworth should be included within the body of the article Chinese Communist Party, under the "Controversy" section, which covers similar incidents (e.g. condemnations of the CCP, CCP rights violations, etc.). I am going to make this change shortly, and if you have any objections or suggestions, you should voice them at Talk:Chinese Communist Party instead. If you want, you can link to this discussion by Wikilinking User talk:CentreLeftRight#John Sudworth. All the best, CentreLeftRight ✉ 04:13, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Esports rosters
Hey there, just wanted to reach out about the esports rosters. I've created the tracking category Category:Esports articles with insufficient color contrast to ensure we are following MOS:COLOR. At a bare minimum, we need the text and background to have a contrast ratio of at least 4.5, and ideally, we should have a color contrast ratio of at least 7.0 (but this isn't always possible). I use this tool to manually check and alter colors, if needed. I've tried to ensure that colors match the team logo as much as possible, so hopefully none of the changes are too extreme/noticeable. Hi,
I'm making a podcast about Wikipedia and would love to speak with you about your work on it, mainly as a member of the Myanmar Wikiproject. Would you be happy to chat in the next week or so?

- @Wearecrowd: Hello there, thank you for the invitation. Although I have a lot of time to spare, I do not think I am the best person to speak to if you are looking for information on the history and development of WikiProject Myanmar specifically. Two individuals who I know have worked in this WikiProject for a very long time are Ninjastrikers and Phyo WP. I'm not sure if either will see your message in a short amount of time though, owing to the situation in Myanmar right now.
- Most of my personal projects and contributions have been to political articles (e.g. the many political parties and administrative divisions in Myanmar) and coverage of the insurgencies in Myanmar (e.g. Internal conflict in Myanmar, Rohingya conflict). Not sure specifically what you would like to discuss or if any of that is relevant, but if you would like to discuss further you can email me at clrwikipedia@gmail.com and we can determine if I have anything to contribute to your research.
