Hello and Welcome

[edit]

(Please forgive any spelling mistakes, I am too tired to fix them)
Gooday, you can call me Bolter21. I am an editor from Israel and I first want to wish welcome you to the English Wikipedia and to state some important things:

  • Be polite and professional. I see your position, you clearly interested in Israel, Zionism, etc. So I want to make a plea. Try to relay more on discussions and don't get mad at people, try not loosing your calm. I am not saying you have lost your calm but I am warning you, loosing your calm might have devastating consiquences, so take a note on that. Remember that you still have the privilage to be part of this amazing project and all of your edits should reflect your commitment to the project.
  • You are NOT allowed to edit pages that "could be reasonably construed as being related to the Arab-Israeli conflict". The reason for this is because you are a new user and a decision was made to de-jure block every new users (that has less than 500 edits and have been here for less than 30 days) to edit articles related to the Arab-Israel conflict. This policy is to prevent trollers, vandals and people who push their own WP:POV. You can technically edit some articles but be sure, if other editors disagree with you, they have all the right to revert your edits and therefore I advice you to avoid editing articles related to the conflict. BUT! you will be welcomed in the talkpages of these articles as long as you follow Wikipedia's policy. Here is a link the text of the decision to not allow new users to edit conflict-related articles: WP:ARBPIA3#500/30.
  • As I mentioned above, WP:POV. POV is Point Of View (I suppose you already know that) and Wikipedia should be written from an WP:NPOV (Neutral Point Of View) which means your edits shouldn't reflect you own opinion, they should reflect the sources exisitng, or that you give. When I started editing Wikipedia, I belived that the Palestinians are not a real ethnic group and their whole existance is based on the opposition to Israel. I still belive in this, but my edits should never reflect this opinion becuase I can't compete with the vast majority of sources, saying otherwise. Therefore I urge you to always remember that sources are beyond your opinions.
  • I suggest you read the Five Pillars of Wikipedia and take it seriously. If you need any help in something, tell me. I might not always be the one to help you but I could redirect you to someone who can.
  • One last thing, a positive one. What are your interests? Think about something that interest you and you find it's article lacking basic information, or maybe an Israeli politician, poet you like.. I don't know where you from so I will assume you are not Israeli (according to statistics).. Think about something from your country, a village, a politician, a book writer.. Try to find something that you, as a new editor, can contribute to and when the time will come and you"ll have more than 500 edits (I suppose it will take more than 30 days) you will be able to contribute to articles related to the Israeli-Arab conflict. You can always see your edit count in the preferences tool (It is on the top of your brower, near your watchlist, contributions etc.).--Bolter21 (talk to me) 19:13, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
