A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
For taking the time to review The Shawshank Redemption, raising its status for the first time in 16 years! Darkwarriorblake / SEXY ACTION TALK PAGE! 15:22, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

I missed your addition of the source. I'm waiting on the ABS-CBN story to load. The Inquirer is reporting it also,[1] so there's probably enough to go on now. —C.Fred (talk) 17:07, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Rollback granted

Hi Slightlymad. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Alex Shih (talk) 05:55, 8 November 2017 (UTC)

Periods in captions

Great work on Homecoming! I have a question. When you state "Adding period in caption as it's followed by a complete sentence" (Spider-Man: Homecoming), what do you mean? Do you mean that the period follows the complete sentence? Because there is no sentence after the period. SassyCollins (talk) 09:57, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

SassyCollins It was a typo. In any case, see WP:CAPFRAG. Slightlymad 10:00, 12 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello Slightlymad. Hope you are doing well. Since your oppose on Final Destination 3 I have further improved the "Reception" section. I was wondering if you could look through it to see if there's anything you'd want me to improve or not. PanagiotisZois (talk) 20:50, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

Alma mater vs. alma maters (or almae matres)

Hi. Regarding, the grammar edits on Dan Gilroy, I refer you to the Wiktionary entry for alma mater. In English (alma maters) and Latin (almae matres) an "s" is added to create the plural form. In Portuguese and Spanish, an "s" is not added. Regards, --Jeremy Butler 13:22, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

Vera Farmiga

Hi, thanks for the message. I replied on my talk page but maybe you didn't see it there. I've reverted this in the lead and the infobox, but I've left it in the later section obviously. The Guardian source is good, but Ukrainian-American is not a nationality, and the source doesn't say it is her nationality, even if she identifies herself this way. MOSBIO prefers nationality in the lead, not ethnicity. If she holds Ukrainian citizenship, which she may well do, we would need a source for that. --hippo43 (talk) 12:52, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Resident Evil: Apocalypse

Hey mate, thanks for your interest in Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Regarding your removal of the awards table, MOS:FILM#Accolades doesn't seem to say you expressly can't have a table unless there are 'many' awards, I think it's just saying it's a better idea to present them in this way if there are many. Do you think removing the table improves the article? I'm not up in arms about this, but I did think it was better with it, though my opinion is of course a bit biased since I'm heavily invested in the article. It's nice to have some fresh perspective, so mainly I'm just wondering if you think this makes the article better or if you're just making sure the article adheres strictly to MOS:FILM regardless of whether it's an improvement or not. Also I've passed two film article through FAC that only had half a dozen awards; they both had awards tables and nobody challenged them.

In any case, the article is currently listed for peer review (see here) in preparation for nominating it for FAC. I'd be very grateful if you would comment on it, and I'd be happy to review something in return for you, but no pressure. Have a nice day. Freikorp (talk) 08:16, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

Policy aside, the table is just too skimpy to warrant its own table. I would probably leave it alone if it were more than five awards. Besides, all of them have been adequately covered in the prose, whose length just further proves my point. Slightlymad 09:04, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

McQueen filmography

I couldn't find much sources that cover his TV roles. How about if I use TV Guide and The Classic TV archives? Is that good?  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 10:37, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Ssven2, I believe TV Guide is a vetted reference, although I'm on the fence on the latter source. Slightlymad 11:24, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
What do you mean by "on the fence"?  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 11:26, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
It means I'm undecided on whether to call that source reliable or not as I have not seen it used in articles before. Slightlymad 11:31, 12 December 2017 (UTC)
It does present many TV shows that cannot be found most of the time. I have managed to get sources for all TV shows here and there except for "West Point Story", for which I'm not able to get any reliable source. I have removed it now.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:07, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

Shoot 'Em Up (film) copyedit

Miniapolis, I saw your assessment of the article against the B-class quality and was wondering if that infobox listing the actors prevents it from meeting the "Structure" criterion. I restored the Cast section just in case; I just didn't want the section bare-boned as it is. Slightlymad 04:06, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

FWIW, I looked at WP:CASTLIST and think it was okay (although I prefer a simple bullet list); there seems to be a fair amount of latitude, as long as it's not too long :-). All the best, Miniapolis 14:08, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

Ronin

Hello:

The copy edit that you requested from the Guild of Copy Editors of the article Ronin (film) has been completed.

I had a look at the clip and improved the wording (I think) describing what happens.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Good luck with the GAN

Regards,

Twofingered Typist (talk) 15:51, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

Twofingered Typist, two queries:
  • Production: Is there really a need for 'and' in Tony Gibbs, his film editor, on George Wallace (1997), and Michael Z. Hanan,?
  • Reception: Shouldn't it be a period and not a semicolon in Despite the praise these scenes drew occasional criticism from The Washington Post for being lengthy, and Variety for the excessive use of jump cuts; since it's followed by a new sentence?

Think that's all. Slightlymad 16:03, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

I tried to rearrange the production section—then didn't—but missed removing the now unnecessary "and".
Fixed period.

Found anything for Shoot 'Em Up yet. You can achieve the distinction of attaining two consecutive GAs in 24 hours.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 11:39, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
I'll pass reference number 20 (Bullet Proof Baby.net) as I just now saw it being quoted by the director himself giving thanks to the website that sponsors the video and merchandise. Reference number 23 too, after reading it, looks alright for GA criteria even though I might suggest a better alternative. I won't push it though.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 11:52, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi Ssven2. I was actually rewriting the reception as I found a better alternative prose for it, but then I was notified that the article has been promoted. While I appreciate your lenience toward the concerns regarding the two sources, you didn't have to promote it right away if you really believe that they don't meet the GA criteria. In any case, two of my nominations have been promoted to GA and I couldn't be happier. Slightlymad 12:18, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Oops. I totally forgot about it. My bad. Do rewrite it now and inform me about it.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 13:44, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

I noticed you still haven't expanded the critical reception section for Shoot 'Em Up.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 07:35, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

I no longer intend to; the current version has an adequate paragraph structure as well as length in retrospect. Besides, I didn't want section's like this overwhelmingly long just for the sake of providing enough "meat" on it. In any case, you were right about passing the article for GA; it turns out that minimal issues can be ignored if they prevent you from improving an article. Slightlymad 07:44, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

On 7 February 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ronin (film), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that despite director John Frankenheimer's preference for the first ending he had shot for Ronin, the test audience "hated it"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ronin (film). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Ronin (film)), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Hi, your ALT1 hook was promoted to Prep 5. However, as it names someone who is non-notable by the fact that he doesn't have a Wikipedia page, I edited the hook. Personally, I think it's quite hooky this way. Hope you agree. Yoninah (talk) 19:21, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Copy edit of John Wick

I finished my copy edit of John Wick, taking care of the overquoting. There were a few other quotes I marked for possible deletion and I kept the second-party quotes in Reception. I concentrated mainly on the top-six Earwig violations, which have been improved as follows:

  • lionsgatepublicity.com 94.6 → 55.9%
  • cinemareview.com 67.1 → 49.2%
  • hollywoodreporter 60.7 → 11.5%
  • emanuellevy.com 56.1 → 10.7%
  • craveonline.co.uk 42.9 → 0.0%
  • uk.complex.com 41.9 → 3.8%

The top two are both due to the same long quote that I felt should be deleted (I wasn't going to paraphrase it). Aside from all the quotes, just a couple notes:

  • In Cast/Alfie Allen, it mentions both a New York accent and a Russian accent which I found confusing. If there's a source that says he developed a unique accent for the role, that would be good to include.
  • There was a little bit of MOS:SURNAME where you use the last name of a person after giving their full name on first occurrence (lede and body). For the fictional characters, we go with how they're most-often referred, and from the plot section it looks like John Wick is more often referred to as John.

I hope this helps, and that I was thorough enough. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Thanks! – Reidgreg (talk) 19:31, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
