Raving reviews

Wow...definitely good for a vandal fighter to get lots of "raving reviews". It would be good if I had more. You seem to get them almost every day. Kudos. Arctic Kangaroo 16:36, 29 April 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, well, it's just a silly list. ;-)  Yinta 16:46, 29 April 2013 (UTC)
Actually, I think the latest is my favourite so far[1]  Yinta 12:18, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

People of the British Isles edit

Hi Yintan,

I believe you were in error to so speedily reverse my edit to this page. (I made it without logging in, so the user page you contacted me on was only my IP address but I am that person ;).) I changed:

"Most of southern and eastern England has shown genetic similarities with the Anglo-Saxons."

to:

"Most of southern, eastern and central England has shown very close genetic similarity with modern populations in the Low Countries, Germany and Denmark, which has been interpreted as representing a major contribution by the Anglo-Saxons, while the populations of areas such as Wales and Cornwall are closer to populations of modern-day western France."

You object that I didn't provide a source, but may I point out that not a single source is cited in the entire article - because it is working from a single project report, which is the title of the article...!

The original sentence was in error. The team are yet to compare their results with aDNA taken from actual Anglo-Saxon period human remains. I corrected it to what the project actually said - without significantly changing the meaning or offering any (in my view, much-needed!) criticism.

Rather than dig through the whole project report again to try and find the page reference I will cite a summary of the report which I found in the journal "Oxford Today". Will that be sufficient to prevent you from undoing my edit again? ;)

Domrivers (talk) 17:34, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

My bad, thanks for letting me know. I went to restore your edit but I saw you've already done so. Sorry.  Yinta 17:40, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Not at all, you saw a highly technical edit from an anonymous IP address and undid it, quite understandable, commendable even. :) Best wishes. Domrivers (talk) 17:42, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

A kitten for you!

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my user page! I appreciate it.

Sorry, no time to answer.
Got to go out for catfood. :)  Yinta 08:20, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Tell me why a company based in the Netherlands is not dutch. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aargh3 (talkcontribs) 13:15, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Read the article and you'll know. Not everything based in the Netherlands is Dutch by definition. Your comparison with the Royal Dutch Shell (note the name) doesn't make sense. And sign your posts in future, please. Thanks,  Yinta 13:20, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Raving reviews on me

Hi Yintan, since you like raving reviews so much, have a laugh at this. Cheers. Arctic Kangaroo 15:56, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Reverting an opinion deletion

http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Talk:Tippi_Degr%C3%A9&oldid=552874344 reversion

Since when Wikipedia is discussion board? I (and apparently Wikipedia Guidelines as well) don't think that personal opinions belong here (even on the discussion pages) and because since 2009 no one didn't even bother to respond to it I don't see why it's necessary to keep it online. User:89.69.142.96

I agree it wasn't the most constructive of messages but still, you're not supposed to delete messages by other people (unless they're plain vandalism). Cheers,  Yinta 22:09, 30 April 2013 (UTC)
I (and apparently some of wiki mods) disagree - I've seen before deletions on talk pages because the author just stated his/her opinion and didn't try to improve the article. Of course right now I'm not able to point you a direct example (discussion pages are not indexed by search engines and I don't feel like searching it manually just to make my point), but the very reason for deletion was "Wikipedia is not a discussion board". Why would you like to keep that on the discussion page since it doesn't provide any value? The author didn't even bother to propose any changes to the article itself so it would reflect his/her opinion. He/she just vented around 2009 and did nothing to "correct" the article. Why, for the Cthulhu's sake, you want to keep it? What's the point? Why do I have to waste Wikimedia Foundation resources (bandwith, CPU time, storage etc.), your and my time to justify deletion of this piece of unnecessary content? Next time I will see Jimbo's sad face, I won't consider donating, because if he want to keep this kind of content on Wikipedia, I think he's just wasting my money. User:89.69.142.96
I think this is a bit of a gray area and we obviously disagree about this particular message. Frankly, I don't understand why you make such a big deal about it. I see no point in deleting it, you not in keeping it. Fine, we disagree. Trust me, I'm not going to start an edit war about it. I'll strike my message on your Talk. Oh, and yes, Jimbo has a sad face, on that we fully agree.  Yinta 20:48, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Nasty spammer. Thanks for blocking the guy. By the way, sorry, if I had the cash for a Marshall stack I wouldn't give it to you ;-)  Yinta 17:00, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
I added a request to the spam blacklist page, MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist--I've not done that before, and if you haven't, maybe that's a helpful link. Thanks again. Drmies (talk) 17:10, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
Bookmarked. That could come in handy.  Yinta 18:56, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Martin Kratochvil Edit

Looks like you removed my edit. Are you by any chance a friend of Martin Kratochvil? Are you paid by him? This so called "successful businessman" has ripped many people off through his fake company as documented by "The Economist". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.246.19.245 (talk) 23:49, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Yes, Martin and I go back a long way and he pays me handsomely to keep his public image clean. Seriously, no, of course not, but your addition that he is "wellknown for ripping off his clients"[2] flies in the face of just about every Wikipedia guideline. If there are Kratochvil controversies to be added then make sure you follow WP:BLP, WP:NPOV and WP:SOURCE. You can't just claim something like that without backing it up. Cheers,  Yinta 07:56, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Page blanking

You reverted this edit in which the sole author of a page blanked the page after it had been tagged for speedy deletion. This is a legitimate action, and usually signals the author's request that the page be deleted. Rather than reverting such an action, you should simply mark the page with {{db-author}}. To my edit have a source, it is based on the IMDB website, it is a bit problematic to put a source to the Edit, but should not rush to delete the edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.64.222.114 (talk) 14:09, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi. The thing is, if you add something like that to the wiki without a source it will be removed pretty fast. If I hadn't done it another editor would have. By the way, IMDB isn't considered a reliable source for the kind of information you want to add. More about that here. If you need help adding the refs, let me know.  Yinta 14:19, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, but...

Hey, Yintan, thanks for keeping an eye on my talk page! WK-test is actually my testing account, though, so please don't revert edits from it on my talk page, as I'm trying to test a script with it. No big deal, though. Writ Keeper  14:34, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

VidOn.me on List of software based on XBMC

I'm fine with you removing the reference link/links for the "VidOn.me" software and apps on List of software based on XBMC, but I am however not fine with you removing the text content, nor the link top xbmc.org's "sponsors and friends page". The VidOn.me software itself is not spamware or spyware, and the VidOn.me is an official sponsor of the XBMC Foundation as listed on xbmc.org's "sponsors and friends page", and the XBMC team behind the XBMC Foundation and xbmc.org website is very well known and well respected among the free and open source software community, so they would absolutely not endorse any spamware or spyware. Thus I have restored the text but left out the software and apps links. 164.4.17.36 (talk) 14:08, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

That's fine with me, thanks. I never said (or wanted to suggest) your software is malware, I reverted per WP:EL.  Yinta 14:14, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
OK, good. Leaving that section without the iTunes Store and Google Store apps references then. And FYI; VidOnMe is not "my software", and I am in fact in no way affiliated with VidOn.Me or their software. 138.103.17.18 (talk) 08:13, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I added the link as a ref for gansbaai.biz as it is a website that is and will be covering latest new and also old news and photo related to the people of Gansbaai. I live in Gansbaai and have a passion for the town and the boats and will be covering that in this website. There are a few websites about Gansbaai but they all seem to promote tourist whereas gansbaai.biz will be about the history and what is happening locally in the town. I would appreciate this ref as I am just trying to get a link to the site but a ref point of Gansbaai Greetings Johan PS You can check on the whois of gansbaai.biz that I am the owner Johan Marais. and you can see fro my facebook page http://facebook.com/johansmarais that I am from gansbaai. Hi Johan. I removed your link per WP:EL. As you can read there, it's preferred to have only official sites listed, not blogs, fansites, etcetera. Also, your site is almost completely empty at the moment. Regards,  Yinta 08:41, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Dunning School

The Dunning School had many ideas that came out of it. The wikipedia article seems to have been written with solely anti-Dunning School sentiments. There is nothing on their research about African Americans who were wealthy in the South during the 1600s, even though wikipedia has links to many of those people. The page seems incredibly opinionated and not the least bit neutral. Wouldn't a neutral representation be to talk about the Dunning School from THEIR point of view and adding criticisms at the END of the article???

96.231.163.58 (talk) 08:43, 3 May 2013 (UTC)Dr. Greg Potoano Professor of Black Studies University of Wisconsin

Hello. Yes, but that's not what you did. You added a kind of disclaimer in the article[3]. Please discuss problems with the article on the article's Talkpage, not in the article itself. Or you can of course edit the article to give it a more neutral tone. Regards,  Yinta 08:51, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Her Father's House redirect deletion

I feel that you have reverted my edit without taking time to note my stated reason for deleting the redirect. The redirect itself is misleading and thus should be made independent and not redirected to the author's page. I expect you should look into this keenly to know what I mean. "Her Father's House" if cant be started as an independent article shouldn't be made to redirect to its author's page. Sort of like linking an NYTimes article automatically to the NYTimes' article itself. I hope you understand this.Sidewinder message me! 13:42, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

No worries, I did note your edit summary. However, as long as there is no article for that particular book, redirecting to the author's article is quite common and preferred. Once an article for the book exists, the redirect would of course be pointless. Cheers,  Yinta 13:48, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
Well then, I think I will start working on an article on the book itself then. ThanksSidewinder message me! 13:59, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Epstein Archive

Hi Yintan,

Thank you for informing me of the errors that I made in my enteries under Epstein Archive.

Alas I'm a newbie and have never written for Wiki before and have usually only ever written poetry and a little fiction (never tried to get published as do it only for fun).

I've volunteered to help my local art gallery on some Wiki projects and a small band of us volunteers had been given some basic training on the morning with the intention of trying to get some material up and running on the afternoon (easier said than done when one has to research info on an archive in an afternoon).

I must apologise for the error in judgement, I really thought I was still in my Sandbox so as once I had the stuff down I could then edit the material until it was passed for going live. I do thank you however for raising the problem and for alerting me to the fact that I was going live.

Hopefully in a few months I may have got a little better with the system.

Kind regards

Olives

Actually, I agree, it wasn't exactly a constructive change. Still, you have to wonder why someone else would eliminate an entire section of the olive article and replace it with facts about apples. Just felt like pointing that out halfway through the rogue section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.45.136.89 (talk) 19:54, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Saugeen Ojibway Nation History

Hello, Yintan. Today I came back to my First Nation's Wiki page to do some research and I notice the link I put up was removed, cited as spam and called vandalism. Naturally, I found this a bit distressing. I am a historian from the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation and I don't understand how someone not from my community has any historical authority to swoop in and declare my alterations to my community's page vandalism. Granted, I did remove a link which actually did not belong there. It was from a group called the Hope Bay Cottagers Association. This group had unsuccessfully sued my First Nation and added their link to influence traffic on this page to their cause. Their page information was one sided and hurtful to the integrity of the Band Members in my community. I then added a link to my history page which will turn three years this month. I earn no income from this page and admin it as a public service to both the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation (where I live and am a registered Band Member with Status)and the Saugeen First Nation. Further, both the chief Lee and Chief Kahgee are personally aware of my page and have given me their blessing. The history on the Saugeen Ojibway Nation History page goes back to 1000 AD and as a historical document I feel makes a legitimate useful link to anyone chancing by these two pages. I feel well within my expertise to make additions to these two pages as I have amassed over 300 volumes of SON history and can legitimately claim par with other historians in our two communities. I am also within walking distance of my community's elders, former Band Councillors and Chiefs if I need correction. I do understand that your program may have noted inconsistencies with my ham-fisted changes as I am new to making alterations and was unaware how to key in my link for the desired look. I would very much appreciate if my changes are reverted back and the warning on my talk page removed, along with the latitude to grow these two pages to a depth of historical knowledge befitting their historical importance. If in the future my changes or additions which I intend to make at my leisure catch your attention, let me know, I am more than willing to give exhaustive citations and background and talk history on any change or addition I make to these two pages.

I also saw there were two other noticed associated with my IP address. I need to state I have absolutely no knowledge of either of the changes made to the two pages and do not recall ever accessing these pages. In each of these months I had major computer malfunctions and could not have been online to make those changes at those times, so I don't really know what to say about those, except whatever changes my IP address made I have no concerns about them one way or the other.

I hope you consider my message well and understand how bizarre it seems to me that I am considered a vandal to my own community's history by someone not of my community and I do realize the faceless aspect of these posts make the written word come off reading harsher than it is meant. I will leave this here and if you require my e-mail for further discussion I will gladly provide it. Miigwetch. Patrick Lavalley — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.164.180.103 (talk) 05:04, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi Patrick. I reverted your addition of a Facebook link per WP:EL. I saw on your Talkpage that I was the third to do so, so I think it shouldn't have surprised you that much. This has nothing to do with your historical knowledge but everything with Wikipedia's guidelines. The warning messages on your Talkpage are templates, inserted by automated software, which gradually become more strict/harsh. The first one is a kind reminder, the fourth one a strong warning. In your case the term 'vandalism' might be a bit over the top, agreed, but that's templates for you. Don't take it too personal. As far as your IP address is concerned, you probably have a dynamic IP, so your internet provider will sometimes give it to another one of their customers. To prevent this kind of confusion you could just register an account. Kind regards,  Yinta 09:04, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Congrats!

Hey, many many Congratulations on crossing the 30000+ mark, on your contributions to Wikipedia. Was Just wondering that if anonymous editing had not been enabled, how these edits had been made? Isn't an advantage for us? LOL. Faizan -Let's talk! 07:35, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) LOL. Most of my edits come from reverting, warning and reporting vandals. Arctic Kangaroo 07:40, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Yeah! That's the purpose of Huggle, which Yintan does! I support anonymous editing, it really increases our edit count, you can get two edits in one second, one for a revert, and the other for warning the user on his talk, That's really an advantage. Faizan -Let's talk! 07:46, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Despite these facts, I don't really support anon. editing. I prefer regisration, as it makes it easier to contact the editor (some IPs change very frequently). Also, IPs are like have "no name". Arctic Kangaroo 07:59, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
Ah..yes, absolutely! Faizan -Let's talk! 08:06, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
I honestly hadn't noticed that, but thanks for the congrats. Who's counting? ;-) Aside, I'd like to see anonymous IP editing disabled ASAP. Removing childish "GAYYY!!! BOOBIES!!!!" crap from articles is becoming rather boring. Those school IPs are (almost) nothing but trouble. I feel like I'm catching burglars in the house of someone who keeps refusing to lock his front door. An endless task.  Yinta 08:53, 4 May 2013 (UTC)
But sometimes, this clowns have got a pretty good sense of humour, especially when talking about vandal fighters like us (you probably know what I mean). Arctic Kangaroo 09:39, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Creating new massacre page

Hi I just modified on the http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Bayda_massacre, I removed the Soldiers killed section, because no one was killed except for civilians. yesterday in a relevant event, Assad troops did another massacre in a very near by Bayada village called Ras Alnabi' ... I think you should write about this, reports, photos, videos are coming to media now, Arabic media did some reports, and i guess English media would do that today too.

Information about this: There are no rebels in Bayda or the Ras Alnabi' , those are minority Sunni villages (some thousands) among Alawites (3 millions) on the coast of Syria... Assad is taking conflict to the next level, the sectarian terrorism in reaction to US and EU intention to send lethal weapons to Syrian rebels in North, South East Middle of Syria almost everywhere except west, the Alawaites areas!

I would love to contribute on some pages, I just registered, I know we need reference in order to modify anything.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirammar (talkcontribs) 11:27, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

The paragraph you deleted is well sourced and verifyable, so don't delete it again, please. If you've got a problem with it, discuss it on the article's Talkpage first.  Yinta 11:47, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Zero Fret Page edits

hi Yintan, my edits to the zero fret page are based on 50 years of being a guitar player and dealing with acoustic and electric guitars, with and without zero frets. You say that Edits should be Neutral, but there is nothing "neutral" about the information that is published in the Zero Fret Page, in fact the information is incorrect and as a guitarist and musician, I consider it mis-information. Thank you, Jose — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.196.229.189 (talk) 22:42, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello Jose. As I pointed out in the edit summary when I first reverted your edits, discussion about the article should take place on the article's Talkpage, not in the article itself. I don't doubt your knowledge about frets, I'm asking you to follow the WP guidelines. If you think there are serious problems with the article than you can fix them by editing the article (don't forget the sources), or discuss it on the Talkpage. Adding your opinion about the article to the article (no matter how valid that opinion might be) is not the way to do it. Kind regards,  Yinta 22:47, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

I was right to correct that, Paul Hogan's character when he impersonated John McEnroe is called "John McEnhoges". Paul Hogan's nickname was "Hoges", as you can see on The Paul Hogan Show. It is not McenHoax, some silly American probably wrote that. I re-did my correction and added a reference (youtube video of the video clip in question)— Preceding unsigned comment added by Sswam (talkcontribs) 10:42, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for adding the reference. Cheers,  Yinta 14:05, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Declined speedy deletion nominations

Hi there. I recently declined your speedy deletion nominations on the articles about ministries of Lebanon, because there's more in those articles than just the rephrasing of the titles that you claim there are. There's also sources and external links in those articles. According to that criteria, an article would be eligible if it only contained a rephrasing on the title, and nothing more. The criteria also mentions that an article would be a valid stub and not eligible for that criteria if it has context, and those articles have enough context to be understood. In any case, I'd rather see them expanded than deleted, because they're perfectly good stubs. Thanks. Lugia2453 (talk) 21:30, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

You know, I honestly thought you were joking. This has context? Oh well, so be it...  Yinta 22:23, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Gotcha!

And, you're from Greece, right? Immediately after you retired, I went to search more info about you on Google. [4] Arctic Kangaroo 13:51, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, he is from Greece! Faizan -Let's talk! 14:07, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
Comin back Yintan? Come on, no one is Huggling nowadays. Faizan -Let's talk! 14:24, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
Actually, I'm not from Greece but I'm in Greece. I moved country a few years ago. And Google? Pfah, you guys missed a few: [5] [6] [7] Anyway, coming back? Don't know. It seems I do have to keep an eye on my Talkpage if I don't want it vandalized. Which kind of proves my point, funny enough ;-)  Yinta 20:45, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
See?[8]  Yinta 14:09, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
Yeah... that's why asking you to return! They are frightened of you. Faizan -Let's talk! 05:14, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
So are you coming back? Arctic Kangaroo 08:23, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Looks like I have to. Seriously, I'm a bit of an all-or-nothing kind of guy. Perhaps I should just take a break sometimes instead of immediately slapping the 'retired' tag on my page. Still thinking about it. If I return you'll notice it, don't worry. And if I don't you'll notice that too. ;-)  Yinta 09:51, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
That's it! When you are fed up of Wikipedia, you just make decisions in a hurry, and left; and afterwards when you are fed up of that music, you make a decision again, and return! We cannot live without Wikipedia, and that is the truth. Hope to see you editing again, and guys please pray for my exams! Faizan -Let's talk! 10:32, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

Come back home!

Come on now!
