Speedy deletion nomination of Victoria siplin
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Victoria siplin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Victoria siplin has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Copyright violation on Victoria siplin
[edit]On Talk:Victoria siplin (now deleted), you argued that the page should not be deleted as a copyright violation because you have explicit permission from Ms Siplin to post the material. I replied on that page, but since it has been deleted, I'll reply here as well:
- There is a procedure for allowing the posting of copyrighted materials, but in this case I wouldn't bother going to the trouble. Since the material was copied from Ms Siplin's campaign page, it is overtly promotional and not suitable for a Wikipedia article. Also, since Ms Siplin is (as yet) an unelected candidate for state senate, she does not meet the criteria for inclusion at Wikipedia. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:17, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
Resolving the problem
[edit]You said:
This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because... (I work for Victoria Siplin, and she has given expressed approval to use the information from here site and all images of her to create the wikipedia page.)
Explicit permission does resolve the copyright problem, but we don't know who you are, so we have a process to ensure that permission has been granted. Please see Donating copyrighted materials for the steps, please contact me at my talk page if they are not sufficiently clear.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 17:18, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
I would be very careful to throw around accusations like that; only administrators have the power to delete articles here on Wikipedia, and frankly, the chance that this was deleted by a political rival, borders on the impossible. The article was deleted (correctly, imho) as a copyright infringement. And as you admitted, you are working for the subject of the article, so see our guideline about conflict of interest.

- I'm the person who deleted the article on Victoria Siplin. I can assure you it wasn't deleted by a political rival, because I don't know you or Victoria Siplin, or the political party either of you belong to. I deleted the article because it was a violation of copyright rules. I'd be happy to discuss it further on my talk page, although I'll note I've already explained how you can resolve the copyright problem.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 15:20, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
