Please use care with User warning templates
Hi Yashovardhan Dhanania,
Welcome to Wikipedia! And thank you for your contributions.
Although there is no seniority requirement for using any of the user warning templates to properly warn users about uncivil behavior and I'd be the last to tell you not to do so, nevertheless Wikipedia does have a lot of rules, guidelines, and policies, and it does take some time to get on board and see how it all works, so a certain amount of caution is only prudent. As you are still a fairly new user with only five edits prior to the current calendar year, you might want to hold off a bit on the use of user warnings, until you see how more experienced users employ them.
Also, there are some specific recommendations right on the doc page itself that are worth considering:
If you've never used a particular template before, or have not used it recently, read it (e.g., with preview) to ensure it actually says what you want to say. If you are new to user warning templates, please read the usage and layout page first.
I'm sure you were just trying to help when you templated a long-time user with a level-4 warning, even though this user has had no earlier warnings at lower levels for this (or any other) templatable offense that I am aware of. I think you were being just a little hasty here, and had you followed the recommendations on the doc page quoted above, you likely would have realized that that was not the correct course of action.
I'm not here to judge or comment on the validity of your original assessment of the behavior of the user in question. It's possible a level-1 warning was warranted, or perhaps it wasn't; that's for others to decide. I'm here to tell you that the use of this level-4 template, which warns about the possibility of an immediate block, was inappropriate.
For starters, rather than use a template, you might consider just using your own words, as I am here, rather than templating you with {{Uw-tempabuse1}} for example. It hopefully makes the pill a little easier to swallow, while still having the same beneficial, medicinal effect.
But whether you use templates or your own words, please familiarize yourself with the guidelines at WP:CIVIL and the template instructions at WP:UWS. The introduction to WP:UWS says (bold in the original):
You should ensure that you are familiar with the content of templates before issuing them. If the tone or content of a template isn't appropriate, don't use the template — just say it normally, because it likely would violate basic WP:CIVIL.
Please also read the section on Commitment to Civility, as the inappropriate use of User warning templates can itself be seen as being uncivil.
Happy editing! Cordially, Mathglot (talk) 02:14, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Mathglot: Thank you for your note. I apologise to Elinruby for tempting him. It was just that I saw his message on the talk page and the tone of it stuck me. Going back, i agree that I should have shown more civility and left a personal note maybe. I'm again really sorry. As for the use of lvl 4 template, i saw somewhere that he had already been issued a lvl 2/3 warning before. I can't say even if it was called for. Thanks once again for your message. Yashovardhan (talk) 03:29, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- In the earlier case someone told me to discuss my changes on the talk page which I had been doing, like that entire evening with no answer from anyone so I was a bit annoyed especially when he pulled out a warning over it We got past that though and we've been working on the article, even made a sliver of progress. Yes. Discussion on the talk page is a good thing and so is reading it. I did not delete that entry because to me he was clearly wrong and I generally don't delete anything of substance, but I kjnow what you were looking at. No worries and pleased to meet you. Come help us at Impeachment of Dilma Rousseff hehe -- it desperately needs help. The post you saw was not my finest moment and probably not the other person's either. Life happened and he closed the vote on something important that I had voiced opinions on and I had *said* I was going out of town that weekend. But seriously, no worries. I am glad @Mathglot: said something -- I did not ask him to by the way -- because I was really mad about the vote and I thank him for acknowledging that issue. Meanwhile, we all love wikipedia, right? Seriously - that article needs help. Group hug. Apology accepted, incident forgotten Elinruby (talk) 03:59, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- This couldn't have ended better. Happy editing, everyone. Mathglot (talk) 04:16, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Mathglot: Thanks once again! Yashovardhan (talk) 04:20, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) @Elinruby: Thanks for forgetting the incident. I'd certainly have a look at the article but won't say whether I could help or not as I'm not much into content creation. I'll still have a look and maybe take it as my first GOCE project! Yashovardhan (talk) 04:20, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- I don't know what GOCE is but your mission should you choose to accept it would be to read the thing and ask questions where it does not make sense. And to keep doing so Article is ... well. I left a summary on the talk page. There are forty people watching it but they are not trying to change it. And it really does need to change. Apart from its inaccuracy there is a lot of badly translated Portuguese but we are painfully hacking through the weeds. It almost makes makes sense but a lot of what it is saying is sorta very wrong. Elinruby (talk) 08:16, 7 May 2017 (UTC)
- ooooooh Guild of Copy Editors. No, Impeachment of Dilma Rousseff is not a one-person project, seriously, which is why I need the help. But I notice that you are from India, although I don't see anything that says where exactly or what languages you may speak. As an alternate suggestion for your project there is a list of articles proposed for deletion here which need to be reviewed and some of them are about Goa, or Gujarat, and I seem to recall some religious figures, so I am guessing that there may be something there of interest to you. Elinruby (talk) 02:03, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Elinruby: ya that's right. Sorry for the late reply! I'll have a look to that list soon and maybe get working on them! Yashovardhan (talk) 04:31, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
- If you do wish to help at WP:CXT/PTR please check with Elinruby or myself first. It's the list itself, more than the articles, that need work. If you speak any South Asian languages, what would be particular helpful are two activities:
- tagging articles with the language code and adding some brief remarks
- examining the English article, comparing it to the original article in Hindi or Tamil or whatever, and determining if the translation is accurate or not.

Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard
What to do if the other editor doesn't answer but imposes his POV?Xx236 (talk) 09:28, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Xx236: Hi, go through This essay , it clearly describes what to do in such circumstances. If the other editor, after repeated attempts by you to discuss, doesn't do so and doesn't even let you revert his change, you can approach WP:ANI which will take necessary action against such editors (including blocking/banning them when necessary). But please make sure you read that essay first. Thanks, Yashovardhan (talk) 09:33, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
- User:Yashovardhan Dhanania, User:Xx236 - I have one additional comment. First, it is always preferable to try to resolve content issues rather than to have to report editor conduct. However, some areas are subject to frequent battleground editing, including areas of the world that have been real battlegrounds, and ArbCom has imposed ArbCom discretionary sanctions. These provide an expedited procedure for dealing with disruptive editing in these areas. These areas include Eastern Europe, and Poland is in Eastern Europe. Dispute Resolution Noticeboard
Thank you for addressing DRN filings quickly. However, I would suggest that in cases where there has been inadequate talk page discussion, but has been some discussion, the case can be left open on the noticeboard for 24 hours to allow discussion before closing or accepting it. If there has been no discussion, then prompt closure is good. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:21, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Robert McClenon: Thanks! Will pay special attention to these cases next time. Yashovardhan (talk) 04:28, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you for reviewing the redirects
Thanks for reviewing the redirects I have tagged for speedy deletion (result of article moves to the draft namespace that I have made). I would review them myself, however, that is not possible (and I understand the good reason behind that being that it could be misused etc). --05:02, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!
How Wikipedia didn't have an article about this topic is a little bit beyond me. Kudos to you for noticing that and starting it. Good job, Yash (it's always good to hear that XD) - the coffee is on me! Cheers, — Yash talk stalk 18:33, 10 May 2017 (UTC) |
- Thanks a lot Yash! I actually saw it at a requested article list of (I guess) the India wikiproject and was as surprised! Yashovardhan (talk) 02:03, 11 May 2017 (UTC)
Indian articles in translation
Hi Yashovardhan, Do you speak any Indian languages, such as Gujarati, Hindi, or Punjabi? The X2 Review project could use your help. Please ping me here if you're willing to look at a couple of English articles, to assess the translation quality, and let us know if it's any good. For the purposes of this project, we don't need you to fix up the article if the translation is wrong (although you're welcome to do that if you want), just to give a thumbs-up/thumbs-down assessment on the translation quality. What do you think? Mathglot (talk) 09:17, 11 May 2017 (UTC)

Adelbert Road
The icons follow the signage at each bus stop. East 9th Street (RTA Rapid Transit station) has only one station, with no directions noted on the front of the station. Cards84664 (talk) 19:02, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Cards84664: Makes sense! I was just patrolling new pages when I reached that article. The two bright signboards stuck and I thought I'll ask you. P.s. Marked both this article you referenced and the previous article as reviewed. Thanks! Yashovardhan (talk) 19:33, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
Patorgoyan clan
FYI, I've declined the speedy, as the article definitely has enough context to tell what it's about -- a clan in India.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 01:55, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
- @Fabrictramp: From what I remember, the lead and the title referred to two different clans. Yashovardhan (talk) 04:14, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
Page mover granted
Hello, Yashovardhan Dhanania. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:
- Wikipedia:Requested moves
- Category:Articles to be moved, for article renaming requests awaiting action.
If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Swarm ♠ 04:43, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
New Page Review - Newsletter No.4
Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 811 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!
But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Hello Yashovardhan Dhanania,
I noticed you marked an article as a stub using the {{stub}}
template. Did you know that there are thousands of stub types that you can use to clarify what type of stub the article is? Properly categorizing stubs is important to the Wikipedia community because it helps various WikiProjects to identify articles that need expansion.
If you have questions about stub sorting, don't hesitate to ask! There is a wealth of stub information on the stub sorting WikiProject, and hundreds of stub sorters.
