Commercial use of Image:Garlock.gif
[edit]Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Garlock.gif, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Garlock.gif has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.
If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.
If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.
If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Garlock.gif itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 12:58, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
You are encouraged to create a new account and contribute to Wikipedia under a more appropriate username. Wikipedia:Username policy provides guidance on selecting an appropriate username. You may also edit Wikipedia without creating an account.
You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia under an inappropriate username. If you would like to discuss the block, you may appeal on your talk page or email the administrator who blocked you. Due to Wikipedia's mechanism for enforcing name changes, your IP address may be temporarily blocked. Unless you have also been engaging in vandalism or impersonation of another user, we will remove that block as soon as possible.
If you want to keep the contributions from your old account for your new username, please follow these directions:
- Add {{unblock-un|your new username here}} to your user talk page. This is possible because even when you are blocked, you can still edit your own talk page.
- At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked.
- You will have 24 hours after the unblock to file a request on Wikipedia:Changing username before you may be re-blocked. Note that this can only be done before you create the new one. For more information, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username. In many cases (especially if your account has few or no edits), it is a lot easier to create a new account.

Help Me
[edit]{{helpme}}
I was blocked and I do not know how to start a talk conversation with admin.
- The reason you were blocked was because your username appears to be the name of a company, which is prohibited. Tiggerjay 19:57, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Please see Inappropraite Useranmes for more information. You may be able to request a new username [3]. Tiggerjay 20:00, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Help Me
[edit]- I am confused because hundreds of other companies do this?
- I received your two E-mails, I will explain why I blocked you. First off, other companies can't; if someone creates a name that is of a company, they get blocked. I didn't block you because you vandalized, I blocked because you're a company name. If you want to change your name, I will unblock you, or alternatively, you can create a new account name and leave this one alone. Acalamari 20:25, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me. Can I change my username and still create a page for “Garlock Sealing Technologies?” I am confused as to how “Sony” can have a page called “Sony,” yet they are a company. I have no problem changing my username if I can still make a page for “Garlock Sealing Technologies.” I appreciate your help.
- No, you won't be able to create a page about Garlock Sealing Technologies; see Wikipedia: Conflict of interest. The page will end up being deleted. "Sony" has a page, but it was not created by them; it would have been created by someone not part of Sony. Also, for a company to have their own article here, they have to be highly notable, see Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) However, a username of "Sony" or "Microsoft" would be blocked in accordance with Wikipedia: Username policy, so we block any corporate name. You can, however, change your username if I unblock you (and I will unblock if you go to Wikipedia: Changing username and have a name change), but creating a page about "Garlock Sealing Technologies" would be against policy. As I said though, it will be easier for you to just create another account, but that's entirely up to you. If you have any further questions or if I was unclear, I will answer you. Acalamari 20:55, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. I will change my name. My only point of contention is that Garlock Sealing Technologies is notable and should have a page. Garlock Sealing Technologies is the largest entity of a publicly traded firm. Let me know what you think.
- I've unblocked you; I suggest you choose a name that you like rather than a corporate name. Thank you. Acalamari 21:11, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Are you unblocked? Acalamari 21:28, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- I am unblocked. Thanks for your help. I will change my username.

Please remember to sign your posts
[edit]Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! Tiggerjay 23:11, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- I also suggest you make your request for a name change soon. Otherwise, I will have to reblock this account. Acalamari 23:30, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

The New Garlock Sealing Technologies
[edit]I have been able to recreate your article from scratch without the WP:NPOV and WP:OR issues you had associated with your original article. Please feel free to review it, but be aware that you must have the appropriate WP:STYLE. I believe part of what will keep it balanced and WP:NPOV relates to the legal action, so let's avoid removing it - however feel free to make appropraite and BOLD edits. If you have questions, please let me know. Tiggerjay 04:30, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit]This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Garlock.png. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:21, 29 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Thank you. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Garlock.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Garlock.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:22, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Corporate Logo
[edit]I believe that you represent, work for, etc., for Garlock, and as such you should try reposting the logo stating that you own the copyright to the image and release its reproduction into public domain, and then we can add the image to the article. If you need help, please let me know. Tiggerjay 16:51, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
