[edit]Hello, Yamamoto! You understand rightly: text in articles isn't supposed to be based on original research. Before you read farther, please understand that I'm not trying to jump on you: I've been "guilty" of this, too, especially when I was new on Wikipedia. And don't worry that you broke anything :-)
I'm sorry to say it, but you really can't add anything if you can't find sources. Are you sure that there aren't any sources? Try the Montana Historical Society, among other places; perhaps there's a Jefferson County Historical Society out there, or newspapers that you could find in archives? By the way, if you want work on geographical bits, you can look at data available from the GNIS, a USGS database.
