License tagging for File:Lutonsnowoct08.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Lutonsnowoct08.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:06, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Climate sections

[edit]

Hi, You're doing some great work in adding climate sections to UK articles. Can I make a few suggestions? Using the {{convert}} template makes it easy to give degrees in Celsius and Fahrenheit without having to do the conversion and find the ° symbol on your keyboard. {{convert|20|C|F}} gives 20 °C (68 °F). {{convert}} also makes miles to km and most other conversions nice and easy with options for rounding, ranges and adjective forms. The Manual of Style (dates and numbers) has guidelines for lots of issues on presenting numbers. Could you put in a paramater like | publisher = [[Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute]] in your citation templates, please? I didn't know what KNMI was with looking it up. Keep up the good work. Regards, Cavrdg (talk) 06:47, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lowestoft

[edit]

Hi, in adding some information to the Lowestoft article you deleted 66% of what was already there. I've simply reverted your edit - you may want to try again (it will be in the history, so copy/oaste into the article & format as you please). I'm not getting involved in editing meteorological data as I'm likely to make mistakes!). - Sitush (talk) 01:26, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ha, im a still learning a bit as i go, so not even sure how to 'talk' yet! Not even sure if you can see this or if I have to do it some other way...

Yes - not sure how i managed to delete all that! Thought it was only the 'geography' section open for editing, i'll try again at some point, there was a problem with the references, although not sure if that was in the climate bit or another bit of the geography section - nothing stood out to me.

Anyway thanks for sorting out the deletion, wasnt sure if it was just at my end browser/cookies or something - i guess not! (Xxxeditxxx (talk) 01:44, 22 March 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Hey! I've jut reverted an edit made to Lowestoft which added a lot of climate material to it. The material may well have a place but it seemed to have a variety of problems with it - it seems to refer to some weather data in places not in East Anglia, such as Shawbury, which, to be honest, I think is a bit confusing. The reference to Northern England worries me a bit as well - why have it there? It might use a spot of simplifcation as well - there's a lot of numbers in that first paragraph,m for example, that I found difficult to follow (and I'm used to working with data like that!). And do we need to know that 112.7 days have little or no rainfall? Wouldn't 112 do?
Can I ask you to look at the stuff again? I'm not saying don't include it, but the way it reads just now is a bit of an issue for me to be honest - certainly when you compare it to the other sections you've written on places like Hastings. Thanks. Blue Square Thing (talk) 08:07, 11 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Climate boxes

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you added climate details to Maidstone and have been quite prolific adding this kind of data to other UK geo articles. I wondered if I could be cheeky and ask you in due course to take a look at Wormshill (an article I worked hard to get to FA status) and add climate data there? Much appreciated Dick G (talk) 14:58, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I can (or you can!) copy and paste the Maidstone-East Malling climate data, that is the nearest Met Office station im aware of that has readily available data online...I know there is a station at Brogdale/Faversham which maybe slightly closer, but dont know of any detailed online records or even if that weather station has been operating long enough to give a decent observation period. I also read in your Wormshill article its at 191m asl, so would probably be a couple of degrees cooler than East Malling and Brogdale, with more snow! Xxxeditxxx (talk) 20:24, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I'll think about that one as mightn't be too accurate. Editors can be a bit sniffy where FAs are concerned. Might be best to leave it as it is. It sure gets its fair share of snow though, you're right there! Thanks for taking the time to reply Dick G (talk) 21:02, 16 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Climate on Balmoral Castle

[edit]

I don't think that climate data is appropriate for an article on a landmark, and would be better suited at the article for the nearest town instead. Unfortunately, I don't know what the nearest town is. The article gives Royal Deeside, which isn't a town but the general area around the river. Please comment on both topics at Talk:Balmoral Castle.
