Spyware banker...I had a reason to be paranoid. What I've done, at least for the past couple weeks, was change my password each time I log out of here, so it can't be cracked, as a means of protection. I did the same thing with my other accounts: my hotmail account and my YouTube account, among others...problem is, it's only my Wikipedia account I can successfully log into, the others have shut me out for typing in the "wrong" password even though I changed the passwords, which makes me scared that my accounts have been compromised. I haven't run a full system scan due to time constraints right now, but does that mean? And how do you regain control of those accounts if they've been compromised, or at least, how do you cancel them? I'm seriously frightened. Whip it! Now whip it good! 08:26, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Most online accounts offer you the option of entering an alternate e-mail when you sign up with them. From the login page you usually have a "Forgot your password?" link where you can ask either for a password reset link to be e-mailed to your alternate e-mail or where your password will be e-mailed to you. Some also offer you the chance (Or force you to) create a security question (Or security questions) when you sign up with them. You can regain access to your account by correctly answering the security question(s). Canceling of accounts can usually only be done by logging into them and then going into options. Some online accounts do not offer a deletion feature. (Such as AIM, however almost all online accounts delete your account after a period of inactivity, typically several months or a year) However you must first make sure you no longer have spyware on your machine that will duly record your new password(s). Please run SUPERAntiSpyware. In addition, there is always the possibility that you typing your passwords in wrong since you say you've been changing them a lot recently. As a precaution however, please do not login into any of your online accounts until you have verified the removal of any remaining spyware on your machine. Whenever possible, please run a full scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Please run also and post the log of, HijackThis. What anti-virus are you running? If you don't have one at the moment, avast! or Avira AntiVir are good choices. If you already have an anti-virus, please update and run a full scan.--Xp54321 (Hello! • Contribs) 17:28, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations
Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)
Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.
Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.
Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 01:06, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
