Teahouse talkback: you've got messages!

Dear Prime Hunter
The picture of the school crest of King Alfred School, Plön was made from a photograph of the school crest on the pulpit of St George's Chapel, King Alfred School, Plön by Peter Smith, a former pupil, for the Wyvern Club. The Wyvern Club is the association of former school teachers and staff of King alfred school, Plön. The photograph is unsuitable for reproduction as it is disfigured by flash-bulb glare; it was the photo was taken in the 1950s. I am also a member of the Wyvern Club and have produced this Wiki-submission with the full encouragement and authority of the Wyvern Club.
There was a similar shield on the headmaster's podium in Butler Hall, the school assembly hall. Both these shields were destroyed when the school closed in 1959. However, the senior pupils who were Head of School or Head of House wore this badge on the top left pocket green blazer/jackets - some of these may have survived as personal souvenirs. The other pupils wore a red wyvern badge on their top left blazer pockets.
For your interest, the full school crest consists of:
Top Left: The red wyvern (type of dragon) of King Alfred the Great Top Right: The badge of Schleswig Holstein Bottom: The silver fish of Plön.
You may also be interested to know that all the other photographs were taken by one of the teachers, Miss Rosemary Nutt now Mrs Rosemary Freeman, at the school circa 1957. She gave them to the Wyvern Club archives recently.
As a Wiki-novice, I hope that I have addressed your concerns fully. If you have any more I will do my best to answer them.Wyvern4859 (talk) 18:20, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
- I only answered a question at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#How do you amend an uploaded photo caption. I haven't expressed concerns but somebody else has at commons:File:141026 KAS Shield.jpg. You can edit that page. The license section says "Owned and authorised by Wyvern Club (King Alfred School former pupils association)". That is not sufficient for Commons. They require you release the image with a free license allowinfg others to copy it. See commons:Commons:Licensing. If the image is only for use in an English Wikipedia article about the school then it can instead be uploaded at Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard with a Fair Use claim in Step 3.
