Ronjohn RFA

I followed the rules to submit my RFA, if the rules mentioned anything about receiving consultation from administrators then I would follow but it doesn't. I'm not sure what you're referring to with regards to my attitude. I don't have an "attitude"... The RFA rules make no mention of that either.--Ron John (talk) 15:07, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Oh come on. Do you honestly think your RfA is going to pass. Even if you were to get supports more than 15 opposes would be enough to cause an RfA to fail. I think you don't get it and you are clearyly demonstrating WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 15:18, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Never said it was or wasn't let it run it's course. Here we go again I did not ask for what you think or want. Please refrain from adding your personal biases.--Ron John (talk) 15:36, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

And that comment just adds to WP:IDHT but, I agreed to Salvio that I would stop "harassing" you so I will. Besides, I have more important things to do than this I don't want to be a hounder or a harasser.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 15:47, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Editor moving others' comments in discussion: help

Hello Yoda. I might need some advice, as I've got into my first one-on-one argument with another user.

Over on the Muhammad images discussion (I'm sure these things are taking their cue from our teaching examples), Niteshift36 moved a comment made by HectorMoffet so that it appeared Hector was replying to me, when he wasn't. I asked him on his talk page why he did it, he moved my question to my own talk page (this section) and replied there. I don't think his statements are true, it doesn't seem right to me that comments should be prevented in 'voting' sections when we are not supposed to be voting, but I don't know the wikiquette and I can't find any policy or guideline that directly addresses it.

Meanwhile, I posted a short reply to the moved comment, so that other editors would know it had been moved. (At the moment the disagreement is right at the bottom of this section). Niteshift challenged the need for this and when I explained, he accused me of trying to blame my errors on others. (?! What errors??) I'm trying hard not to get angry about this, but I don't think Niteshift is actually reading what I'm saying at all - he's just decided that because he's right, I must be wrong. I feel that his moving a comment out of its context is confusing and damaging to healthy debate. Now somebody else has accused the pair of us of 'penis fencing'. Which is kind of amusing since I don't have a penis to fence with, but really, whatever happened to civility and working together? Is it always like this?

Taking it back to my talk page won't solve the problem of Niteshift moving the comment, since he doesn't seem to want to listen. Hector and the person he replied to probably don't even know the comment was moved. Now I feel unable to say so. Advice please. ~ Kimelea (talk) 21:21, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Cancel the call for help. :) Guy Macon dropped by my talk page and put things in perspective for me. Your comments would still be very welcome, but I'm chilled about it now. ~ Kimelea (talk) 01:08, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
Yoda, hah! Unfortunately, I've been quite busy for past little while - I'm often away for weekends, and realised that Wikipedia isn't the be all and end all.. so I missed this. You were asking for controversy, well it looks like you found it. Why not swing by WP:ANI for a bit more fun. (That's not a serious suggestion by the way, WP:ANI is a place to eat popcorn and watch, try not to get involved as there is no good outcome) - I hope everything's sorted, I'll try and have a good snoop before too long. WormTT · (talk) 08:54, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I'll be careful what I wish for next time. Since my last comment, the argument re-opened on my talk page and eventually closed. Yesterday I posted a complicated RfD (which took me ages trying to figure everything out) and within minutes I was being accused of very bad faith and forum shopping. That one's still ongoing. :/ Seems every time I gingerly touch WP: pages, my hand gets bitten off. It's like a dog pit in there.
Real Life absolutely comes first though. Enjoy the sunshine. :) Can you suggest some level-headed people I could turn to informally for advice if I get in a flap when you're not available? ~ Kimelea (talk) 13:16, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Well, off the top of my head, Steven Zhang's offered his help, Demiurge1000 is fountain of knowledge (though less available at the moment) and most admins are very good, Swarm, 28bytes and HJ Mitchell are ones I generally see talking sense. WormTT · (talk) 13:50, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Or you could just quit moaning about it and let it go. Sheesh......Hector didn't give a damn. Guy has told you that it would probably not be productive to continue, yet here you are, still complaining about it. You asked why I did it on my talk page and I told you why on yours. It didn't require your "help" in the RFC discussion. All this back and forth is a huge waste of time, yet here you are, still running around talking about me. Put the whip away, the pony is dead.Niteshift36 (talk) 15:01, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
For goodness sake. I'm answering people who ask about it, and Worm is my mentor. I'll waste my time how I choose, and that includes asking for more experienced users' advice on how I deal with conflict. ~ Kimelea (talk) 16:00, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
  • Sorry, it looks like you started this discussion. When you start the conversation, it's not really "answering people who ask about it", now is it? Feel free to waste all the time you want. Feel free to ask advice. Also, feel free to stop talking about me. Niteshift36 (talk) 18:46, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
I started it on 23rd March, asking advice from my mentor. My comment today that you complain is me talking about you, was: "Since my last comment, the argument re-opened on my talk page and eventually closed." Then you reopened it, here and on my talk page, and I'm the one whipping a dead horse? ~ Kimelea (talk) 18:56, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi Niteshift. Kimelea has been adopted by me, which means she is very likely to discuss editors and situations with me. What's more, she's got every right to sound off with me, and I can provide a counterpoint, as and when I have time. I ask that you don't take it personally - I can confirm I would never use my admin tools in this sort of situation, I'm just here to help a user learn how to handle everything on wikipedia, including disputes. MSU/US Education Program: Wiki-Project Management Interview

Greetings, I'm Stephen. I am a student at Michigan State University, and working on an exploration of the Wikipedia adminship process under the guidance of my professor, Jonathan Obar. I am contacting you to confirm our interview, as well as thank you for participating in our project.

You can reply to me via email - as my email address is listed in a Wikipedia email form to you - to confirm the interview. My questions should take no longer than 30 minutes to answer. Thank you again, and I look forward to working with you. Tarucstephen (talk) 15:04, 27 March 2012 (UTC) Replied by email WormTT · (talk) 13:19, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Definitely the latter ;) Of course I'm not deliberately ignoring you. I'm just well behind on all my adoption work. WormTT · (talk) 13:18, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
So... how soon can you get back to it? Barts1a / Talk to me / Help me improve 00:43, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

It is...

A personal attack. "Delete. Unmemorable, not a celebrity, this page is written for and by internet fanboys/trolls." ~ who has written most of the article? -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 10:39, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

I know, but removing it looks like censoring the opposition. It's about as valid as "Zyzz has touched a generation" or any of the other pointless IP contributions. Look at the IP's contributions, realise how much credance will be given to the vote and ignore it. Leaving it there does much more than removing it. WormTT · (talk) 10:46, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Ruylong has reverted personal attacks against him, I have done it for him as well. I have redacted the part of where it calls myself and anyone else who edited the article, a "troll" - replaced with Redacted. If you think I should leave as is prior to redacting, I'll take up the advice. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 10:50, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Redaction is reasonable. The personal attacks Ryulong removed were direct and much worse. The ones you removed were indirect. I've also agreed with redaction on IP's talk. WormTT · (talk) 10:54, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Okay thank you. But it wasn't just soley because it inderectly reffered to me and others on the article - but seriously, if someone has nothing nice to say, they shouldn't say anything at all. One thing that frusturates me, is when people attack others - whether it be to someone I'm in an argument with, or not. The internet has many "Keyboard warriors". -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 11:03, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Hey Worm

I know the tutorial can help me- I just wish Wikipedia was a bit more user friendly so everyone could have the opportunity to share their knowledge. You really need to take a lot of time and effort to learn the special formatting and to feel your way around in order to edit it. I guess that part of it is in some ways good though, so not every Joe'Schmo can come in and start editing articles. Maxasher (talk) 11:16, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Actually, this setup is really old and dates back to the very beginning of Wikipedia (2003). A new editor is being constructed as we speak which will allow for easy editing while preserviing this setup at the same time.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 11:19, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Awesome- I can't wait. Maxasher (talk) 11:20, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

2003? I thought it was 2001? It's a long time ago anyway. Whether or not it'll actually be used here is another matter, we're slow at adopting change! WormTT · (talk) 11:23, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Since 2001, the software's gone thru 2 major changes, which is why mediawiki is also known as phase3. Initially Wikipedia in 2001 used UseModWiki, a Perl software. In 2002 Magnus came up with phase two in php&mysql, which was rewritten later in the year by Lee Daniel Crocker into phase3, later renamed to MediaWiki, so the actual date would be 2002 :) Snowolf How can I help? 17:08, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Can you catch up your mentoring please?

I will ask again: How soon can you get back to your mentoring? I am starting to feel a bit neglected here.... Barts1a / Talk to me / Help me improve 11:45, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

"Long story..."

Hello, WormTT ·

Re: why I haven't registered. It's just that I currently don't have permanent email to speak of. At least not one that I'd want to associate with a non-temporary registration. I am in the process of consolidating some email addresses from wherever, and... well, somehow this hasn't risen to the top of my to-do list. Once I get a round tuit...(you know how that goes). Also, I tried to register awhile ago and the names I wanted were to too similar to others, and I don't like to have a bunch of usernames that I need to remember... yadda, yadda, yadda. (I guess this story wasn't particularly "long", but it sure was boring). Btw, an actual 'Round Tuit' doesn't have the word "Round" on it -- it simply is round. The one uploaded here is a counterfeit! ;)
~Thanks for responding; sincerely, etc.

~Eric F 184.76.225.106 (talk) 18:59, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
P.s.: I noticed the description for the 'Round Tuit' image: "Artist's impression of a round tuit" -- Hmmm... maybe I'll make a few "artist's impressions" of a $100 dollar bill! ~E.184.76.225.106 (talk) 22:14, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

First Good Article

I did it =D Citroën C3 Picasso - now a good article
Couldn't have done it without my mentor Jenova20 11:44, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Congrats, Jenova! :D ~ Kimelea (talk) 18:33, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks =D Jenova20 18:49, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Jenova, I have to say, I'm stunned. Last time I looked at the article, it looked like this. You mentioned that you had put it in for GA, and I've been planning to check it out for the past few days. Without meaning to be rude, it didn't occur to me that you could have expanded it quite so much and to such a high quality in such a short period of time. I didn't help there - you did that all by yourself, and I cannot tell you how proud I am of that Good Article! Well done, it's absolutely brilliant. WormTT · (talk) 19:36, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Well i had a good mentor didn't i =]
And Waggers who reviewed the status of it was very detailled in what i had to do, i managed to finish most of it in 2 days.
Problem is that now there's more eyes on it and it's a pain that there's unexplained removal of content already. Still, on the bright side i'm proud of it and it gave me tips on other projects. Thanks Jenova20 08:09, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
On a separate note, is there anything i can do about the lag of this [1] or do i have to wait? Thanks Jenova20 08:11, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Nothing you can do, Wikimedia's got server problems... oh and Jenova... my old iPhone battery's swelling!!! I'm freaked out! WormTT · (talk) 08:18, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

That happened to an old phone i had, you're best chucking the battery and replacing it.
...Of course yours is glued in by apple to prevent competition and buying a cheaper battery from someone else so i suggest you stop using it and take it to a phone shop or just call apple customer services.
IMPORTANT - if you ever want kids then switch it off and don't keep it in your pocket =P.
And if that was a joke then it went over my head. Jenova20 08:25, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
The screen popped off the front, so I unscrewed it at the bottom and it carried on expanding... Thought I'd leave it outside for a couple of hours in case it went bang. Can't seem to find a number for Apple customer services, trying to phone the nearest shop now, but they're not open yet. Looks like this is quite a common problem with the 3gs, ho hum!WormTT · (talk) 08:34, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
I would have suggested the sink but outside is good too. Every cloud has a silver lining...The Samsung Galaxy S3 is out this month or early next =D Jenova20 08:38, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Well I'm eligible for £126 out of warranty replacement. Pfft. And it seems it's unlike to actually explode... So they say. Ah well. WormTT · (talk) 08:55, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
It's "unlikely to actually explode"??
It's hardware expanding in size, flammable, corrosive, and with an electrical current and heat and they told you that?! Crazy. Did you tell them the screen popped off? Jenova20 09:06, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Shhh. Let me believe what they said and sue them when it does explode. I'm going to keep it out of harms way and bring it in store to see them duck and cover :D considered venting it, but gave up on the idea. And yes, told them that - "it's perfectly normal" HA! WormTT · (talk) 09:08, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Don't you just Love the way apple treat their customers =P
I was told my Sony Ericsson W880i would blow up if i didn't chuck the battery immediately, apple tells you it's harmless... someone's telling porkies... Don't forget to wear oven gloves as you bring it in. Jenova20 09:13, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm no Apple lover, I just use their products because I happen to think they're the best on the market at the moment. But I was quite surprised when I asked if there was an explosion risk and told flat out "no, it's probably done all it's going to do". On the up side, it's unplugged and it's not hot, so I would be surprised if it expanded any more after and hour or two. WormTT · (talk) 09:19, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
My W880i was unplugged and unused for 18 months before it expanded so don't get complacent. Whatever's inside appears to break down and expand no matter how much it's charged. Jenova20 09:50, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Rant on Civility

I thought I'd start Reader's comments on the talk page to your Rant on Civility. Presumably, others are welcome to join in (?) P.s.: oops, I re-read your post, it seems you're not ready to link to it yet. ~Eric F 184.76.225.106 (talk) 21:42, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Hello, again --
Sorry to be a bother. I didn't want to make disparaging remarks about an editor on the public forum, but I might need some help regarding the "Problem uploader" discussed on the Teahouse forum. If you check out his talk page, you'll get some idea what I'm up against -- he's a real piece of work. In addition to what you see there, he periodically "retires" and has at least one other account. It seems his philosophy is "the ends justifies the means".
I'm sure you have a full schedule, but if you can find a few minutes to check this out and let me know if I'm getting in over my head or not, I'd surely appreciate it. Thanks, sincerely, etc.
~Eric F184.76.225.106 (talk) 09:56, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Will have to look at this as soon as I can, but I have limited access on the weekends. WormTT · (talk) 19:37, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
That's okay, don't worry about it. I've posted on Commons AN board. ~Eric F 184.76.225.106 (talk) 00:02, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Good Article

Hi, me again. Just wondering how i add the 'Good article' icon to the top of my page in a way that takes me to the article (as you and a few others have done). Thanks Jenova20 08:47, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Put {{GA user topicon|article_name=Citron C3 Picasso|icon_nr=0}} at the top of your page :) WormTT · (talk) 08:57, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh and WHEN you get another one... copy and paste, change the article name, and increase icon_nr by 1. WormTT · (talk) 09:00, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for that =]
What article are you working on at the moment out of interest? Jenova20 09:07, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
None just at the moment. I've got my eye on fixing up Big Mac, have been wanting to do that for a while. Also the other two piers in Blackpool. Oh and there's a possibly interesting article on a gay murder spree that I've been thinking about writing. And Doom Bar of course. So quite a few possibilities! Check out my To Do page, you'll see sources I've collected. WormTT · (talk) 09:17, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

(Oh and it helps if I spell the article name correctly... you may want to sort that out on your link...) WormTT · (talk) 09:20, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Very interesting, i like "past - poor cornish people = lots of fish and potatoes" - probably not supposed to be funny but it was all the same =]
Fixed the link.
I'm going to probe for San Francisco (Cocktail) and see what i can find. Thanks Jenova20 09:58, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Food articles are hard, they're not allowed to be recipes, but good luck! WormTT · (talk) 10:20, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
This one does Cosmopolitan (cocktail) - should i find a better comparison/guide? I did read a policy before though about WP not being a how-to guide. Thanks Jenova20 10:23, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
No, that's a great guide. It's about the drink, not the recipe (which is in the infobox). Good choice. WormTT · (talk) 10:28, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks, i'm falling at the first hurdle though. Every search for San francisco cocktail brings up "san francisco drink week" and if i include the word "cocktail" i get just recipes.
This could be a tough one... Jenova20 10:50, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

I know when to admit defeat so i had San Francisco deleted...There just wasn't enough to make it notable as anything other than a bunch of recipes...I'm going to try and work on Citroën C4 Picasso + Pink News instead. Thanks Jenova20 14:22, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks

I just wanted to thank you for nominating Straight pride for AfD; I had spent a couple days planning to and hadn't gotten 'round to doing so, so you saved me the trouble. --Nat Gertler (talk) 13:35, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

No problems. Takes me a while to make up mind on something, but I am sure that was the right thing to do. WormTT · (talk) 13:39, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

User:Swifty

User:Swifty has been blocked for disruptive editing and making legal threats. He has written to the Arbitration Committee that he has withdrawn the legal threats and is appealing for his block to be withdrawn. As part of his appeal he has requested that you be his mentor and guide. I know that you successfully adopt new users, so that appears to be a sensible choice. Do you have time at the moment to handle another user? You can respond via email if you wish. SilkTork ✔Tea time 09:54, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi SilkTork. I had a long conversation with him last night by email and I am unconvinced that he's quite ready to come back to the community yet - as he still currently blames his entire predicament on Kww. I was planning to keep working with him offline, before either unblocking myself with conditions, or taking it ArbCom or the community. Either way, I'm certainly willing to take Swifty on, despite how busy I am - I've worked with him in the past and can generally see his point of view, and I think he can be a productive editor. WormTT · (talk) 10:03, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. It is likely going to come down to you to decide when he is ready to come back. We are still in discussion on the matter, though it's looking unlikely that the Committee will agree to unblock at the moment. SilkTork ✔Tea time 11:22, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Doesn't surprise me too much, I think he'll be a valuable editor if we can get a couple of things sorted. Thanks for the comment. WormTT · (talk) 11:24, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Apologies.
I'm surprised that was so easy, i expected a bigger challenge. Thanks Jenova20 19:40, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Now onto the next issue...RWD Magazine This lists the same issue i'm trying to add to Pink News...but all about themselves and with no sources. My version is still a work in progress on the Pink News talk page but doesn't mention RWD and is at least referenced. Do i add RWD and link to the Pink News section from RWD or copy and paste it in both sections of both articles (when i've reworded it)? Thanks Jenova20 12:24, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Choice FM appears to be where Pink News got the image so i'm kind of thinking it's just hearsay that RWD is involved there, and the claim of their forums closing could just be down to people making claims it was Ashley Cole and Thompson...but since there's no references i'll have a look what i can dig up. The Tea Leaf - Issue Two

Hi! Welcome to the second edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!

  • Teahouse celebrates one month of being open! This first month has drawn a lot of community interest to the Teahouse. Hosts & community members have been working with the project team to improve the project in many ways including creating scripts to make inviting easier, exploring mediation processes for troubling guests, and best practices regarding mentoring for new editors who visit the Teahouse.
Springtime means fresh tea leaves...
  • First month metrics report an average of 30 new editors visiting the Teahouse each week. Approximately 30 new editors participate in the Teahouse each week, by way of asking questions and making guest profiles. An average of six new questions and four new profiles are made each day. We'd love to hear your ideas about how we can spread the word about the Teahouse to more new editors.
  • Teahouse has many regulars. Like any great teahouse, our Teahouse has a 61% return rate of guests, who come back to ask additional questions and to also help answer others' questions. • Early metrics on retention. It's still too early to draw conclusions about the Teahouse's impact on new editor retention, but, early data shows that 38% of new editors who participate at the Teahouse are still actively editing Wikipedia 2-4 weeks later, this is compared with 7% from a control group of uninvited new editors who showed similar first day editing activity. Additional metrics can be found on the Teahouse metrics page.

Needs tutoring?

Hi Worm, I just happened to notice on Tony1's talk page a new user, Baboon43, left a message asking for help. Tony seems to be in the hospital at the moment, but Baboon's latest block will expire soon, if it hasn't already. Tony has advised Baboon before, but Baboon got blocked anyway, so maybe what Baboon needs is something more along the lines of what you do. I don't know what the formalities are with something like this, or if it is even appropriate for me to post about it here. Would you take a look and see what seems best? Regards, Neotarf (talk) 18:26, 6 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm afraid I'm a little busy at the moment, been away and have lots of other people I'm neglecting... I see Tony's back, hopefully feeling better too. Will leave him a well-wishing message in a bit, but hopefully Baboon will be able to sort it with him. WormTT · (talk) 08:46, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Help!

For some reason i keep getting my talk page spammed with the signpost newspaper, i did make a newspaper rack for it as a place to store them (and i was hoping they would automatically go there but they evidently dont seem to do this even though i gave that link when i put my name down , what am i doing wrong? User:Goldblooded (Talk/Discuss)(Complain) 13:28, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Oh and by the way the ones that are already on that page i did manually but im asking how do i get it so they automatically go there ? User:Goldblooded (Talk/Discuss)(Complain) 13:29, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) It's not getting spammed, only that is the only thing that is getting put there because you are not getting any other messages from other users. If you look, it only appears once a week. Rcsprinter (talkin' to me?) 13:13, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)Your subscriptions settings were incorrect and that is why it was still delivering to your main page. I fixed the problem. It should start delivering to the right page now.—cyberpower Happy EasterOnline 14:44, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Curious

Hi Jc37. I found your full protection of Kiefer.Wolfowitz's talk page curious. Surely it would have been better to edit his block so that it did not include talk page access? Removing talk page access stops other users posting on his talk page, to leave notes of encouragement or points to discuss when he returns. I was just wondering why you went down the full protection route. Oh and I can't actually change it myself, as I am involved and should not take any administrative actions with regards to the subject. WormTT · (talk) 07:54, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

I considered that. I didn't for (mostly) two reasons: 1.) several editors felt he should be taking the time away, and more people editing there was merely bringing him back. (And thus apparently prolonging things.) Admins can obviously still edit the page if there is an important notice to be dropped (editprotected comes into play I suppose). 2.) I honestly didn't want to mess with the existing block unless absolutely necessary.
That said, I'm not strongly tied to this. Which is why I noted in the edit summary that any admin could revert. If someone would rather do it the way you suggest, I wouldn't strongly oppose that. That said, the block is only a week, so I don't know if it's worth doing much more than just letting the block expire. When the block's up, we can just remove the protection. - jc37 02:34, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
As long as you considered the alternative, I'm not tremendously bothered. I don't think it was the right decision, but Reaper's overturned it now. Let's all move on. WormTT · (talk) 08:26, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

My friends list.

I saw your message which gave me an idea how I can fix that signature too. It's the only signature left that needs fixing. What I wanted to say is I'm don't get what you're trying to do on my list. Could you please tell me?—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 10:06, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

You put at the top that editors could put "support" or "oppose" and sign it. Which I did. but I didn't want to be the only one, so I hid it. As for my comment there, Enemies lists are often considered Shit lists, and everyone gets very uppity over them very quickly. WormTT · (talk) 10:09, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
I don't make enemies very easily but, if there is an editor out there, that consistently annoys or tries "destroy" what I try to do here and pushes me to a point where I don't want to interact with that editor, I would consider them an enemy. It takes a lot to become on though.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 10:14, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Even if that happens (and I really hope it doesn't), do not put their name down on a list of enemies, I can promise you it will end up with you in a lot of hot water. WormTT · (talk) 10:19, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Cyberpower, lets be friends! :D And Dave: If I don't complete my WPexam in 24 hours I'm going to be "in a lot of hot water" (is that fine, Dave, 24hrs? well it's not really "fine" but, I'm atm really behind some holiday homework I just found out yesterday existed :/ and procrastination is killing me). Sorry! -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 11:44, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Tell you what, I'm planning to do a lot of WP work tomorrow evening, so that's about 30 hours? If you'd rather have another week, you can - I'd rather you got the holiday homework done! WormTT · (talk) 11:47, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Confused - So what exactly happened posting that link on Jimbo's page? You removed it saying a friend was messing around, but your contribs show that you placed it there. Is somebody editing using your account? That doesn't sound entirely convincing. AsPer my comment on Jimbo's talk, I would recommend against placing such a list in an area which can be viewed by many, and with your name coming up pretty often, some people could take offense to their name not being in the friends list, also personal attacks on enemies ect. Note: this is just my opinion. Mrlittleirish 16:18, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

I POSTED IN THE WRONG PLACE - MY BAD!!! Mrlittleirish 16:23, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
It's not a problem. I've posted on Cyberpower's talk page. WormTT · (talk) 16:26, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
I noticed too. I do find it strange. Would it be worth a block until he confirms ident to prevent further unwanted actions? Mrlittleirish 16:29, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
No, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that it was one edit by a friend while he wasn't looking. If the account has further unusual activity then a block might be on the cards. WormTT · (talk) 16:38, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Recall

((edit conflict)x2)I have read your email and decided to retract my certification. This probably willv not do anything as it seems likely that it will go ahead, but I have considered yours and 28bytes points and decided that I was over-reacting and considering things too emotionally to make a balanced judgement. However, I still consider the block a questionable or "bad" block, but one block an admin does not make. Thank you for taking the time to write your email and I appreciate this greatly.--Gilderien Talk|Contribs 11:42, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

As I said in my email, the fact that you felt so strongly was likely due to you seeing one of Wikipedia's best editors at their best, and that makes me glad. Having said that, there's two sides to every tale, and I'm glad you reconsidered. WormTT · (talk) 11:45, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

No worries! Wasn't sure if you thought telling me and 28bytes constituted actual retraction :) Though I see you were well aware of what needed to be done. WormTT · (talk) 13:08, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Why, exactly, are you attempting to get certifiers to de-certify via email? Could you please disclose the contents of this email? Hipocrite (talk) 13:25, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

I was explaining my point of view on the situation as a mentor. I'd certainly be willing to email you a copy of what I said, but I'd prefer it was not on Wiki. WormTT · (talk) 13:32, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
There is no need. I have already emailed them what you emailed me. Barts1a / Talk to me / Help me improve 13:41, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks Bart. I sent an email to you and to Gilderien only, as a mentor explaining my point of view. You'll note that I specifically said that "...after you've read this email, if you still believe that your name should be on that petition, I'm not going to stop you, it's you're right to include it." - You read it, you decided to keep your vote there and since I am happy you have read and understood, I support you keeping that vote up. WormTT · (talk) 13:44, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Oh and for clarity, the reason I kept it off-wiki is that it included personal opinion on editors, something I keep off wiki. I am willing to let my opinions be known to anyone who wants to hear them, but I do not believe in publishing them on a permanent record included in wikipedia. WormTT · (talk) 13:50, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. For the record, there were no threats, implied or otherwise, in the email I was forwarded. Best wishes. Hipocrite (talk) 13:55, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Quite alright. Thanks for confirming that. WormTT · (talk) 13:57, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Color me clueless. Certification of what? --regentspark (comment) 20:37, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

(edit conflict)Ah. You appear to have missed the last few days. Courcelles blocked Malleus Fatuorum on the grounds that he made a personal attack, which was considered a dubious block by many including myself, and several others here. Steve unblocked him and handed in his admin bit at WP:BN, and Malleus declared he was leaving. After a couple more questions and responses by various parties, a recall petition was initiated for Courcelles here, which was certified by several editors including myself. Read Courcelles' talk page, + MF's and his april archive for more information.--Gilderien Talk|Contribs 20:53, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Got it. Drama :) Bad block but not egregious. Courcelles is a pretty good admin overall and this would be a baby out with the bathwater sort of thing. (Thanks for the summary!) --regentspark (comment) 21:00, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Speaking of key.

Could you create an edit notice page that for User talk:Cyberpower678/Flipper/Hash that transcludes from User talk:Cyberpower678/Flipper/Hash/Edit notice and the same thing for the respective parent page as well?—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 17:24, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

You can do that with a WP:Group notice which I can set up for you, once things calm down. WormTT · (talk) 17:31, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Nevermind, I did lose patience after all. i don't know how you put up with it. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:49, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
I just don't understand how making a "sarcastic" comment and reverting it's removal TWICE in a matter VERY similar to edit warring can still have the comment being interpreted as "sarcasm"! Barts1a / Talk to me / Help me improve 00:51, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
I was very clear it wasn't appropriate. It's interpreted as "sarcasm" because... it was "sarcasm". Inappropriate sarcasm, but sarcasm. My point is that you mistook it for racism, and it wasn't racism, so you just called an edit warrior a racist. Calling people racists when they are not racists is not cool. Adults usually apologize to people for calling them racists when they discover it was a mistake. --Floquenbeam (talk) 00:54, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Adults usually identify a sarcastic comment as such after it is challenged. They do not reiterate it as fact. Barts1a / Talk to me / Help me improve 00:58, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Dealing with. Sarcasm issues aside, Luke's edit was in good faith but inappropriate. Keep that in mind - now taken to adoption page. WormTT · (talk) 10:37, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi QuecyKeith. You're getting there, it's looking much better now. I'm not certain it meets our requirements for notability though, do you have any more third party sources which discuss the school? WormTT · (talk) 10:44, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello! ok I'll try my best to look for more third party sources...thanks very much...--QuecyKeith (talk) 14:20, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Note to Worm: I am the editor who copyedited the article, so I noticed Quecy's post here. I'd just like to comment that, while third-party sources are always encouraged, the more the better, articles on schools that are high (secondary) schools or go through high school (which this one does) are kept on Wikipedia, regardless of third-party sources, as long as the school can be proven to exist. See the various info on the subject in the Wikiproject:Schools material. Softlavender (talk) 02:50, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Hi Softlavender. I wholly disagree with that, high schools don't get a free pass. There is an essay on the subject, and looking at the associated talk page, it's more than a little contentious. In reality, I think All high schools can be notable, but they should meet the general notability guidelines first. I don't see how requesting sources is a problem in any way shape or form.
Having said that, it's much better written since your copy edit. If I wasn't concerned about the lack of notability, I would have moved it to article space myself. I expect someone from the AfC team will do just that. WormTT · (talk) 07:49, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

A quick question

Hiya WormTT, Just a quickie question if I may. Over at WP:ESC we held a lengthy consensus exercise regarding template structure for Eurovision and Junior Eurovision articles. And a decision was finalised to create super-navboxes that contained relevant information such as Template:United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest and Template:Eurovision Song Contest 2012, rather than having templates such as Template:Countries in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 and Template:Songs of the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. This was so we could slimline the number of templates the project had overall. My question is, I was informed to nominate the obsolete templates over at TfD; however, TfD goes through a decision making system, to see if people want to keep or delete these obsolete versions. Is TfD the best option, despite the fact the project has already made a decision to replace old templates with newer versions - or can they just be speedy deleted? WesleyMouse 13:47, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

TfD is certainly the right place to go. A decision may have been made, but it's a local decision, possibly not representing wider consensus. TfD will ensure more eyes go on the discussion, so as to get a more accurate consensus. WormTT · (talk) 13:50, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
How peculiar that is, but I can understand why though. Strikes odd even though the older versions are no longer in use on any articles, and I think there's something like 104 old versions to be deleted. WesleyMouse 13:51, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
True, I'm sure that everything will be deleted without much of a fight, as is normal when templates aren't actually being used. Speedy deletion shouldn't be used to circumvent discussion though - You've done a decent enough job, now it's just a case of letting things take their course. WormTT · (talk) 13:55, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Ah that's good to know then. Thank you for assisting with my queries. Much appreciated. WesleyMouse 13:57, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Templates

Hi,

You gave me my own template to fiddle with:

Welcome to your own personal template. Feel free to fiddle, ;)
If you're confused by the Template:If, remember that it is actually a template itself.
I'm looking for 2 parameters.
Try editting the page to see what I'm doing

Output: I intend to pass this module!

  • You said that there are two parameters. I got one, I think "to pass this module" - but I can't get the other. I can't get it to show my name. I don't understand the brackets and #if:

MathewTownsend (talk) 13:16, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

That's right. The first parameter is "intend", the second is "name". So if you call the template using the parameters... using the format

{{TEMPLATE_NAME|PARAM1=XXX|PARAM2=YYYY}}

User:Worm That Turned/Adopt/MathewTownsend/Template

Didn't know you were still looking at it! WormTT · (talk) 13:21, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Why does it say (Template module)? MathewTownsend (talk) 13:53, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
ps I can't make much sense of Template:If. Is there a simpler explanation somewhere? MathewTownsend (talk) 13:53, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
How do I get my name in there? MathewTownsend (talk) 14:49, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
"PARAM1" should become "name" and then your name will appear in there. "PARAM2" should become intend. WormTT · (talk) 14:51, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

What science did you master? I is curious. Mrlittleirish 12:59, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Mathematics, would you believe? I went on to do the MSc in Autonomous Systems, which sat under the engineering and computer science department. WormTT · (talk) 13:01, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

Have never actually used the letters, it's easy enough to get a degree - I don't value it quite that highly. If I had gone the full whack to PhD, I would be using Dr though! WormTT · (talk) 13:10, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

DYK

I thought you might be interested by this, another two articles round the corner from Doom Bar written by Dr Blofeld and myself. I also have another DYK nom just approved here, and have applied for Highbeam access myself (600 accounts were un-applied for, so I thought I might as well do some more proper content writing, it's slightly addictive). Could I also take the templates test (*cough* baptism of fire *cough* )? :-) --Gilderien Talk|Contribs 20:58, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Renault Clio

Hi Worm, can i ask your opinion on the section "Consumer complaints" in this article. As you can see there's a discussion on my talk page and i'm unsure if it warrents clarification as the added tag suggests so i'm just asking your opinion. Thanks Jenova20 14:44, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Well, without looking at who's on which side... I don't see a need for a "Consumer complaints" section. It's the sort of information which should be worked into the article, generally. Complaints sections are inherently biased and don't "make an article neutral", the whole thing should be written in a neutral manner. As for "clarification needed", it seems reasonable as "Other experts" means nothing. I'd probably say "who?" instead. WormTT · (talk) 14:52, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
What about the clarification needed part? I finished it as your comment here was added. Thanks Jenova20 14:54, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Still don't like it. Doesn't say who these experts are. At least it's not wikipedia's opinion that these are experts though. WormTT · (talk) 14:58, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
I tried looking on Google but couldn't find out. How about a rename to "Watchdog complaints"?
Thanks for looking Jenova20 15:06, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
That still has negative connotations. What's more, it's positioning is wrong. It's a sub section of the entire article not just the relevant Clio. I'd much rather there was no section at all, but it was just discussed in the article at the right point. (See WP:Criticism sections for more) WormTT · (talk) 15:09, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Third (i think) time lucky. How about now? I'm flexible to a rename too but would like to keep it under a heading really. WP:Criticism sections doesn't rule that out but sets a few conditions which i believe i will have met with a new title. Thanks Jenova20 15:27, 16 April 2012 (UTC)

Rationale for Block

You based part of your rationale for the block of Ronz on editing on AAT. This appears to have been based from comments by Montanabw who was canvassed to comment and has been pretty aggressive on the AAT page. See my comment here [3]. I posted belatedly as I wasn't informed of any incidents being discussed in relation to his editing on this article even though I was indirectly mentioned. IRWolfie- (talk) 14:10, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Indeed I did. I spent a few hours this morning going through a lot of Ronz's edits, and yes, AAT was an area that I felt he'd been acting inappropriately. Regarding the sourcing and the actual content, I didn't feel strongly that either side was right or wrong, but I did feel that stifling discussion and certain tactics he was using was inappropriate. I did read your comment when you posted, but didn't feel it affected my reasons for blocking. WormTT · (talk) 14:22, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
I have no comment for the other reasons outside of the AAT article as I have not edited those articles. I've added a more specific comment on the AAT reasoning here; Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Incidents#Blocked. IRWolfie- (talk) 15:01, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Sure. I'll let some other editors/admins weigh in then, but thank you for your comments. WormTT · (talk) 15:03, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons image contributions don't show in edit count??

...But image contributions to Wikipedia do?? Why? Also i can't find the correct infobox for either Birmingham Gay Village or Yumbo Centre. Can you help with that or point me to the right direction? Thanks WormTTD Jenova20 20:08, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)Hey, Jenova. Commons is actually a completely separate project from en.wikipedia; user accounts here are not the same as user accounts there (although you'll have an account on both with the same name and password, thanks to a thing called single unified login). Uploads here are still uploads here, so they count to one's edit count here, but not on the Commons account; edits with the Commons account (whether they're uploads or anything else) count there but not here. Hope this helps! Writ Keeper 20:12, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

(edit conflict):(talk page stalker)I presume you're using X!'s edit counter, which only shows en.wiki full stop. You can change this in the form at the top.--Gilderien Talk|Contribs 20:17, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

The best one (I think) is infobox street
{{Infobox street | name = | native_name = | image = | image_size = | caption = | former_names = | postal_code = | addresses = | length = | width = | location = | client = | owner = | current_tenants = | sector = | category = | coordinates = {{coord|}} | commissioning_date = | construction_start_date = | completion_date = | inauguration_date = | demolition_date = | main_contractor = | cost = }}

Which is used in Liverpool gay quarter. WormTT · (talk) 08:11, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

You're a star Dave. The best example i found was a template for a shopping centre infobox...and it wasn't at all appropriate. Thanks Jenova20 08:18, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Cleanup

There. I just finished cleaning up all my signatures and they all should meet WP:SIG. It's apparent that you are not running Windows 7 or Windows Vista for my signature was to be viewed from those operating systems. They still look differently on different operating systems but the formatting is now compliant to be viewed everywhere. Any thoughts. Here are my sigs:

  1. User:Cyberpower678/SignatureStandard
  2. User:Cyberpower678/SignatureNewYear
  3. User:Cyberpower678/SignatureValentine
  4. User:Cyberpower678/SignatureAprilFools (you may have skepticism with this one so your input is definitely appreciated on my talk page))
  5. User:Cyberpower678/SignatureEaster
  6. User:Cyberpower678/SignatureHalloween
  7. User:Cyberpower678/SignatureThanksgiving
  8. User:Cyberpower678/SignatureChristmas

Butting in, but you should change all of the links in that April Fool's one if you're going to use it. And does the other user know? Nikkimaria (talk) 00:00, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Yes in making the April fools signature I made sure they redirect to my page. I have not yet notified the users who are in that signature.—cyberpower ChatOnline 00:04, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Skepticism is a bit of an understatement. The problem is that April Fools day is meant to be a funny little joke for one day, but signing as someone else will be a permenantly in the logs. People will see another user's name and think they posted it - wholly inappropriate. It also defies the wikipedia tradition of not actually doing anything for April Fools - we present facts that sound implausible but are actually true on DYK for example. What I'd suggest as an alternative is to find someone with a very distinctive signature, and copy it, so that people might have to look twice - but are not being wholly mislead. A few examples, you may want to consider.
You can see where I'm going with this. You're not actually misleading, but you are misdirecting - a big difference. What's more, it's a tribute to the editor you decide on rather than a deception regarding them. Oh and Nikki, please do feel fre to butt in any time you like. WormTT · (talk) 07:44, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
I have thought of that to avoid irritation.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 10:12, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
I'd say using someone elses sig in totality goes all the way to "disruption". If I were to review a conversation on 4th November, and see someone saying something, I'm not going to look back in the history - nor am I necessarily going to look at the date it was said. It's definitely not something you should do. WormTT · (talk) 10:19, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
I've made the changes to the sig. Updates to Scottywong's signature needs to be made.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 11:08, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Also - hard to get my head round, but if you were to go to "limited access" on halloween. Your sig would look like this
Right? - 294 characters. Thing you need to do a bit more whittling. WormTT · (talk) 07:53, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
What else could I remove?—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 10:10, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
Difficult. You could tweak the colours so you didn't use the full name, but instead the #code (which can sometimes be written in 4 chars, #FFF = #FFFFFF for example). If you want to be really sneaky, you could register an alt account, User:CP678 which redirects to your account - that could be then used for your signature. (I considered that myself, since I've got such a long name!) Otherwise, I'm afraid the only thing left is less flamboyant. You've got a lot going on in your sigs, with sups, subs, colours, different fonts, margins... perhaps it's too much. WormTT · (talk) 10:16, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
I have to give it some thought. I've made a lot of sacrifices in my sig to please the community and although this signature style that you proposed was an improvement, it's too much of a sacrifice for me to have to lose the formatting that is supposed to describe me.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 11:08, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
It does seem to me that you understand the technical requirements of WP:SIG but not the spirit behind it. Your sig isn't meant to describe you, your userpage does that, it's meant to identify you. It allows editors to know who made a post, and therefore aids discussion so that it's clear that you are a unique person. Importantly, long sigs in wikimarkup are problematic. They make things much longer than they need to be, makes it much harder to follow discussions when reading the wikimarkup and for those who are less technically minded it makes the wikimarkup much harder to read. Furthermore, for those who are editing on smaller screens (eg smartphones), it becomes a lot harder to navigate through text. It's important to remember that sigs are supposed to be a very small part of wikipedia, yet the amount of work you've put into yours is awe inspiring. Just imagine if you'd put that into something front facing? WormTT · (talk) 11:31, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
I feel however, that this is how I want to identify myself.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 11:45, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
As you wish. I'll reiterated this though, WP:SIG is a behavioral guideline and not optional. There is software in place to stop editors going over 255 chars and you are bypassing that. It is therefore your responsibility to stay below 255 characters. WormTT · (talk) 12:00, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Assuming you can read complicated wikimarkup, you can see when what signature is being used here.—cyberpower ChatLimited Access 13:12, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

I can remove 21 characters from that sig by removing the </font> tags within the links. That should clear a good chunk of it. The size always changes depending on my status. Are you apprehensive with it being 273 when my signature is at its longest?—cyberpower ChatOnline 20:02, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Yes Cyberpower. I wouldn't normally mind, but since you insist on spending a lot more time on it than anyone else, and I've seen you boast a few times that you've got the most "sophisticated" signature on the encyclopedia - I don't think it's unfair to make sure it falls within signature guidelines. And that means 255 characters maximum. WormTT · (talk) 07:33, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

(edit conflict)Indeed it does, though that does not require me to take on any editors. That's because I regularly am adopting, and editors move on quite often - however editors regularly come to me for adoption too. I'm not going to go and change my status every time I can take on another editor. As I said, I'm choc-a-block at the moment, with 6 editors under adoption. Jenova, thanks for the offer, I can't think of anything in particular you can do in the short term, though your always welcome to poke your nose in. WormTT · (talk) 12:09, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Worm, I should make a waiting room for you. People that want to be adopted need to sign up in the waiting room and they'll be adopted in the order they sign up. That should keep some of the pressure off.—cyberpower ChatOnline 20:53, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Aha, but you copied and pasted everything in yours while i just made it basic and unconfusing for adoptees. It looks good but it's cheating... WormTTD will have to decide which is better. Thanks Jenova20 21:53, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
I didn't copy and paste everything. I made the layout the same for consistency, but the instructions are different. So no I didn't cheat and I made mine before you did. ;P—cyberpower ChatOnline 21:59, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
Pff, i maintain that you cheated somehow... Does look good though. Maybe you should copy and paste it over the one i did. Thanks Jenova20 22:10, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

I would prefer moving it. But let's let Worm decide.—cyberpower ChatOnline 22:45, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Very kind of you both, but I don't think a waiting room is a great idea. I assess each request on the basis of compatability, potential and need - along with who requests and how, and will take on some cases when I'm far too busy and refuse others when I've got capacity. The idea of a waiting room, where I must take the "next in line" really doesn't appeal to me. And finally, 184.157.13.121, I've said I'm not available to take on WebTV3, and I find your insistance that I do quite annoying. I've got enough on, and I'm a volunteer here - I suggest you find someone else. WormTT · (talk) 07:35, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

The Adopt-a-user Barnstar
"The Adopt-a-User Barnstar may be awarded to Wikipedians who go above and beyond as adopters or in improving the Adopt-a-User program"

I honestly did not think too much of it at the start - did not really think it would help me too much either. I was very wrong. Dave, I'd like to thank you for finally adopting me, yes, it's taken a whole year and a month but I feel like I have finally achieved something, and that's being adopted by an experienced editor, and learning so much about the policies and guidlines of Wikipedia! I cannot say how much sorry I am that it took this long...I'm a slow learner, as you may have noticed, and procrastination does not help at all. I believe I am (maybe?) your youngest adoptee to have passed and graduated, which is an honor (and just think, if you've adopted me, you can adopt anyone! ) -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 13:04, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

The Barnstar of Integrity
"The Barnstar of Integrity may be awarded to those editors who have shown to be a person of integrity and honor. Or, more simply, a stand-up guy/gal"

Something that I should have given you ages ago, but now is just fine. You Dave, are a model editor - an editor that everyone should look up to, even take a page from you. You have an impeccable, admirable and impressive integrity and honor. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 13:04, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

The Original Barnstar
"This barnstar, the first on Wikipedia, is given to recognize particularly fine contributions to Wikipedia, to let people know that their hard work is seen and appreciated."

I hope this barnstar hasn't been overused for you, but, I'd like to just remind you, that yes, your hard work is seen and is always appreciated. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 13:04, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Finally, I'd like to say another word of thanks. It's going to be sad that I'm not doing your adoption course, anymore. I'm happy, and surprised, that I graduated - but unhappy that it's now all over! However, If I'm ever in a terrible mood with something regarding Wikipedia, you more than really anyone, know that I like to write essay long messages when I'm angry, so I still hope you'll be able to listen to my blabber, now and then. :)

Last but not least: I will do my absolute very best on Wikipedia, to make you proud!

For goodness sake, do you not see how many ruddy barnstars I've already got on this page?! No, seriously, thank you MelbourneStar, it's been a pleasure to work with you. I really didn't think I'd need to go through an adoption course because I felt like I was already experienced, but it gave me so much assistance. I have started my wikibreak and I'm not sure yet when I'm returning, if at all. So I would appreciate it if you could look over my pages for me while I'm gone. I will occasionally check my talk page.—cyberpower ChatAbsent 00:36, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Hope you're alright. You've got 50 watchers, I'm sure it'll be fine. WormTT · (talk) 08:34, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

I think I'm watching it too. MrLittleIrish (talk) © 08:53, 20 April 2012 (UTC)

This is now "all over the place"! Amy has done a whole lot of page moving but the result seemst to be:

  • a page with disambiguation "(song)" which is actually an album
  • a load of incoming links which now go to dab page
  • a dab page at "(disambiguation)" while the "song" is target of a redirect from the undisambiguated name
  • horribly nonstandard hatnote "For the BBC children's television show click here."

aaaargh. I thought I'd mention it here rather than on her own page. You might like to have a quiet word. PamD 18:17, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Update: another editor renamed the wrongly named "(song)" to "(album)", and re-directed the redirect to point to the dab page. I've now put in a {{db-move}} to get the dab page moved to the undisambiguated term. But we are still left with the incoming links which are intended for the album which Amy ought to sort out as it was she who decided the album was not the primary usage and moved it. Please suggest that she shouldn't mess around with disambiguation pages and page moves unless she knows what she's doing. If she'd been happy to leave the tv show linked from a hatnote on the page for the album, all would have been well. PamD 07:51, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm writing to her now on the adoption page, thanks for the update. WormTT · (talk) 07:55, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Looking again: if in this edit she had added {{about|the album|the children's TV show|All Over the Place (TV series)}}, I think that would have done the trick, and the unnecessary dab page could have been deleted. PamD 08:00, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
Please don't get so angry PamD, I never asked for you to constantly watch my edits and the rant about it on this talk page. I think I have mentioned it before that I don't like it when other users, especially ones that seem hate everything that I do, tokeep following my every move. My apologies if you don't anymore and came there without knowing I edited it. For the record, what I was trying to do was make All Over the Place a disambiguation page, All Over the Place (song) an article for the albium (I realise it is an album now) and All Ove the Place (TV series) an article for the hilarious tv show. Now please, leave me alone. Androzaniamy (talk) 11:09, 22 April 2012 (UTC)
Amy, do you really think that my comments above constitute an angry rant? Please don't be so sensitive. "Aaaargh" means something like "The more I look into this the more problems I find...", and I could well have expressed it in much stronger language but I didn't. I kept off your talk page. Perhaps I should just have sent Worm an email ... but then no-one else would know that I'd noticed and pointed out to him the muddle here, so they might have wasted time trying to get their heads round it as well.
You brought a lot of attention to yourself early in your editing career, so it's inevitable that some editors are going to take an interest in what you do now and take a look at your "contributions" listing.
It's rubbish to say that I "hate every thing that [you] do": I've commented somewhere, can't now remember where and not about to waste time looking for it, that your edits are usually good and sensible. It's just that you did get things into quite a muddle here, and I pointed it out to your adopter, on his talk page,so that (a) between us all we could mend the encyclopedia now, and (b) you might be dissuaded from making a muddle like this again. If you don't want people to notice your mistakes, try to get things right - and try not to venture into complications like page moves, and creation of article hatnotes, unless you've read up carefully how to do so, or asked someone's advice, or been through that stage in Worm's course. Hope the broken arm mends well. (If you're writing with the wrong hand, my advice from when I dislocated my shoulder is that gel-type pens, where you don't need to use any downward pressure, are m-u-c-h easier to use as you can concentrate your efforts onto the sideways moves to make letters.) Amy, Pam didn't do anything wrong here. I'm you're mentor/adopter, and as such when things go wrong it is expected that editors come to me, so that I can discuss any problems with you. This takes the pressure off you, because you don't get loads of voices coming to your talk page with lots of different problems, but instead one consistent voice who doesn't overload you. Pam certainly doesn't "hate everything you do", she's been one of your staunchest supporters, both by email and on wiki. I honestly think you've mixed her voice up with others who were more problematic around the same time. WormTT · (talk) 07:37, 23 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm not saying you hate everything I do it's just that it seems like you do in the way you go on looking at my contributions as if you want to catch me doing something wrong. Also why is it "inevitable that some editors are going to take an interest in what [I] do now and take a look at [my] "contributions" listing."? I'm right handed so writing won't be much hard writing but my PE, ballet and music teachers are not happy! Having my arm signed left, right and centre has done wonders for my elbow and I no longer need my sling anymore. Typing with one hand and one finger will be a bit of a pain though.
