A tag has been placed on Katherine Blanc requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. [edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Mel Blanc. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 22:58, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Wordsandpictures. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Mel Blanc, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. General Ization Talk 23:42, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A {{connected contributor}} notice has been added at Talk:Mel Blanc to alert other editors to your declared conflict of interest. General Ization Talk 23:48, 23 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blanc Communications

[edit]

Hi! I am here to help walk you with editing Wikipedia regarding Blanc Communications. (This conversation started on my talk page, but I have moved it here). I am pretty sure that we can make it so that everyone is happy. Sorry that it took a couple of days to respond; I have been dealing with some personal issues that took a lot of time.

You can always contact me privately by going to me by clicking on this link,[1] but I prefer to do everything on public pages where anyone can review my actions.

I know that Wikipedia can be confusing for someone who ghasn't used it before. Please don't feel bad if you make any newbie mistakes. We all do.

Because others will be reading this, I am going to give some background, that you already know, along with my comments.

Wordsandpictures (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) claims to be Mel Blanc's daughter-in-law, Katherine Blanc, married to his son Noel,[2][3] and that together they are the estate of Mel Blanc.

I am pretty sure (correct me if I am wrong), this is the same person as the author I see at https://www.amazon.com/Katherine-Blanc/e/B001K8ZSVM

Wordsandpictures, if we ever need to use you as a source, we will have to confirm your identity. You would be surprised at how often a fan (or perhaps critic) of a particular celebrity pretends to be either that celebrity or a family member. No need for that now -- it looks like everything we want to do here can be verified with other sources -- but I just wanted you to know that we don't just assume that anyone claiming to be Katherine Blanc really is Katherine Blanc. You will thank us if you ever attact a stalker who pretend to be you.

Right off the bat, I see no problem at all with including more information on Blanc Communications on the Mel Blanc page. I am going to do a bit more research and make those edits myself later this evening. I may ask some more questions here as I do my research.

In the meantime, here is an excellent page that will help you: Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with close associations.

More later. --Guy Macon (talk) 19:06, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request for mediation rejected

[edit]
The request for formal mediation concerning Mel Blanc, to which you were listed as a party, has been declined. To read an explanation by the Mediation Committee for the rejection of this request, see the mediation request page, which will be deleted by an administrator after a reasonable time. Please direct questions relating to this request to the Chairman of the Committee, or to the mailing list. For more information on forms of dispute resolution, other than formal mediation, that are available, see Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.

Mediation rejection followup

[edit]

TransporterMan-

Thanks for letting me know about the rejected mediation request -- ah, I am such a newbie!

Several seasoned editors have expressed willingness to create a new edit of my original (botched) edit to the Mel Blanc page. Hopefully their expertise and unbiased edit will be approved. Again, thank you for the message.

Update

[edit]

I just got the first two books I ordered:

  • Mel Blanc: The Man of a Thousand Voices
  • Melvin the Mouth

MtM was, as I expected, geared for a much younger reader, but I did like it. Nice plot, good artwork. The bio in the back and the dust-jacket blurb are useful sources if I don't find the same information elsewhere. Later I will give it to a friend who has young children.

Thousand voices is fairly thick, so it might take me a few days to get a handle on it, depending on how good the index is.

Thanks for your patience. We have a saying around here; "we may be a bit slow, but we update a lot faster than Britannica!" --Guy Macon (talk) 14:34, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

First, we thank you for purchasing the books; we hope you enjoy them! Although...Thousand Voices is quite a TOME, imo. ;)
In the hardcover edition of That's Not All Folks you can find a good reference to Mel Blanc's production company, Blanc Communications Corporation, on page 258.
In the print edition of Thousand Voices there's at least one reference to Blanc Communications Corp. on page 211 (and possibly a few more pages -- I haven't checked).
As for Melvin the Mouth and identifying me as Katherine Blanc: I can send you a pdf of my publishing contract with Charlesbridge. The contract clearly connects me--as daughter-in-law-- with the book, as it is a private legal document nearly impossible for anyone but myself and the publisher to possess it. Let me know if you wish to view the document (for verification purposes only, of course). wordsandpicturesWordsandpictures (talk) 17:14, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Amazon package tracking says that That's Not All Folks is arriving today.
I see no need for you to verify your identity. I just wanted you to know that here at Wikipedia we know about imposters and would require identification before doing certain things that you wouldn't want us to do if we were talking to an imposter (example: using you as a source). Right now we are just working on improving the Mel Blanc page and using published sources; for that it doesn't matter who you are. I know all of this this sounds silly, and I figure that the chances that you aren't who you say you are are pretty much zero, but we have had dozens of new editors in the last few months claiming to be "the real Donald Trump". --Guy Macon (talk) 16:57, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
