Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 21:49, 7 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|The page was denied because of copyright, but I've since submitted the cited page to Wikimedia Commons and verified my identity to release the copyright. Please unblock.}}

One issue was this user posting the text in this file to Wikipedia.

They have since released the copyright to this text, so that issue is resolved. Blue Rasberry (talk) 17:47, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like Woodcouncil is still blocked. Do I need to do something else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Woodcouncil (talkcontribs) 18:00, 9 February 2016‎
I confirm - you are still blocked but you did make an unblock request.
I only do certain volunteer things. Other volunteers manage unblocking. You are in line right now for review to be unblocked. Some of these things take a few days. I am not sure what the current schedule is. My advice is to wait not more than three days and if there is a problem, signal me again by saying, "{{ping|bluerasberry}}." Something went wrong here. There should be two names listed here - the old one and the new one that you would choose. Could you try again? Please go to Special:GlobalRenameRequest for a new name. You are right - group accounts and business accounts are not allowed on Wikipedia. Only accounts for individuals are. Blue Rasberry (talk) 20:55, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

Account was blocked for copyright reasons which have since been resolved, and because I chose a username similar to the page I was trying to create. I'd like to rename the account to move forward.

Accept reason:

Accepted. Username is already changed. Please, bear in mind the WP:COI policy and don't try to WP:PROMOTE your company. Vanjagenije (talk) 23:04, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Woodcouncil (talk) 21:09, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! If unblocked, what kind of edits do you intend to make? Do you still intend to promote American Wood Council? DO you understand the WP:COI policy? Please, answer those questions here. Vanjagenije (talk) 23:05, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have reviewed the COI and understand that it's a COI for me (an employee of the organization) to create a page about the organization. I understand that I can only request edits to pages referencing AWC and would use the account to make such requests. Blue Cascade (talk) 16:56, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That is correct. I unblocked your account. Vanjagenije (talk) 23:03, 10 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
