  • Hello @Vexations: Thank you for checking out the list and for sending me the message. I have attempted to clarify that the list of art methods includes artistic representation in visual arts: painting, sculpture and architecture. Perhaps a name change is in order "List of art styles"? I did see the other two lists which you have included in the speedy nomination - and my opinion was that one covered materials used and the other covered historical periods and schools of art. What are your thoughts regarding a clarification of the title? And or the content covered. Thanks much! Wm335td (talk) 19:15, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
Wm335td, I think that a "method" is a procedure for achieving a result. It usually involves a sequence of (predefined) steps. I don't think that there is such a thing as an "art method", but Aleatoricism or Dérive come close, perhaps. A medium is not a method, nor is a style, a movement or a technique. If you want to make a list of subjects that are NOT art movements or media, you'd need to remove those from your list, and I don't know what that would leave you with. Probably something like techniques; Impasto, Glaze, etc. or perhaps things like Trompe-l'œil and Anamorphosis. So list of art techniques might be possible, but many of your current entries wouldn't fit the inclusion criterion if you define technique as "a way of doing something". @Vexations: Thanks much for your analysis. Would you consider giving me a bit of time to accomplish the task - because the speedy may go forward and then it will be too late. Perhaps I can remove the unrelated or mis-categorized so it is more focussed. I have attempted to add Architectural styles, sculpture styles and art styles but likely carelessly added a few others. Wm335td, what is it you want to do? Make a list of styles? Vexations (talk) 19:53, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
@Vexations: I began by starting a few art articles. One of them was Multidimensional art. I wrote several articles about artists, and then I then researched the many different styles, like Paper art, Ballpoint pen artwork etc. And I realized that we do not specifically list the different styles found in sculpture, architecture and visual art. So was attempting to create this list to centralize an arts style list. Wm335td (talk) 20:00, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
Wm335td, you need to have clear inclusion criteria for your list and not duplicate or overlap list of art movements. What would those be? Vexations (talk) 20:07, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
@Vexations: Inclusion of art styles or methods, (not period art or art from specific eras), not supplies used. The topics include many found on the list at this time: ie Pop art, Abstract art, Multidimensional art, Stick Style Architecture, Baroque sculpture etc. Wm335td (talk) 20:14, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
Wm335td, I fail to see how that is distinct from what we already have. Pop is a movement, not a style or method, and we already have a list of movements. Vexations (talk) 22:39, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of art techniques, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Embossing.
