Notability of Sounds and Mind

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Sounds and Mind, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Andante1980 06:42, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

image tagging

[edit]

Hi!

you uploaded the image Image:Hrithik Roshan.jpg, and have said you made it yourself. Did you draw it yourself, or are you the photographer? xC | 07:50, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought so, because the image seemed familiar, but I couldn't place it exactly. I'm afraid that the original copyright of the image still lies with the photographer, or with Roshan, depending on their agreement.
Indeed after modifying an image it might seem completely different from the original, but its original copyright would still be of the original source-file. I'm going to have to tag this image for deletion, as it cannot be released under PD.
My apologies for this, this was also the reason why it couldn't be included in his article on Hrithik Roshan. Wikipedia has to face a lot of trouble due to copyright infringement, and this is the only way to reduce those problems.
We appreciate your contributions, and please don't be disheartened by this. It happens to all of us, and the best way to learn from it is to read up on our policies. A good starting point would be Wikipedia:Introduction_2.
Happy editing! Cheers! xC | 05:23, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging

[edit]

Hi there,

Got another image to ask you about - Image:Vikram.jpg. Self-made implying you are the photographer or is this a Photoshopped image? Regards, xC | 12:30, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tags

[edit]

Well, if they are all images that have been made from other images, then none of them qualify as PD.

I'm sorry, but they are all going to have to be removed from WP, since they would constitute copyright infringement. One way to save them would be a letter, or something of the sort, from the original artist/photographer of the picture, saying that the artist/photographer gives Wikipedia permission to use zir picture/photos.

Would it be possible for us to get permission for the pictures? We could save the pictures from being deleted in that case.

Regards, xC | 12:09, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. I'd like to congratulate you on your paintings, you are very talented and Wikipedia is lucky to have you as a contributor to the articles!
The paintings which you have made yourself are fantastic and surely will be useful in our many articles on mythology. The rest of the images, however, will have to be tagged for deletion.
I apologize that the images you have spent so much time uploading need to be deleted, but this is the only way to fight copyright infringement on WP. I am grateful that you have been polite and co-operative through all of this, most other users would freak out and start abusing whichever editors try to follow policy in such matters.
I'll be tagging those images for deletion, then. Whichever images have been painted by you, please add a note to those images saying you are the painter, it would make things clearer. In the meanwhile I would like to request you not to upload any more images which might have copyright issues.
Thanking you,
Regards,xC | 06:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An Automated Message from HagermanBot

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! HagermanBot 12:52, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a soapbox.

Please do not use talk pages such as Talk:Evolution for general discussion of the topic. They are for discussion related to the article. They are not to be used as a forum or chat room. See here for more information. Thank you. --Orange Mike 14:26, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Evolution and Belief

[edit]

I've nominated Evolution and Belief, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Evolution and Belief satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Evolution and Belief and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Evolution and Belief during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you.--cjllw ʘ TALK 08:40, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not split the text of an existing article into a new article just because you disagree with the older article for any reason. I have redirected your new article to creation-evolution controversy, which already deals with the topic of evolution and religious belief; feel free to edit that article instead. Resurgent insurgent 2007-04-18 09:25Z

It appears you were just directed to edit this article above, but you have some misperceptions about how wikipedia is intended to work. While we encourage every editor to be bold when editing wikipedia, there are some standards about the intent and content edits should have. Specifically two of the most important policies on wikipedia are no original research which is to say edits should not be ideas you have had for yourself, but rather information that can be attributed to reliable sources. Additionally, wikipedia has a policy on having a neutral point of view where all sides of an issue are treated fairly with due weight. Someone else has reverted your edit to that page, and I am merely notifying you why. If you have any questions please ask on my talk page, i kan reed 06:07, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
