No, Ben, spreading lies and misleading information is vandalism. Stop, or you will be reported. User:WinOne4TheGipper

Hey, I think both of you can get along with each other here. Maybe that's naive, but please try to compromise on the article. Clearly there are two sides of the story, but Gipper are you suggesting that Stephenson did not die of cancer, or that CU users did not make fun of him? Those seem to be factual statements to me. What lies did Ben post? Rhobite 22:48, 4 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Believe me, Ben and I will never get along, but as long as we ignore each other, everything will be fine.

First of all, my involvement in the affair was fairly minimal. Given Andy's history with Black Box Voting, pictures he posted of himself during the time of the illness that seemed to show someone healthier than what some thought he should have been, and numerous occurences that seemed too outlandish to be real (including the public admission of writing a hot check), I thought fraud might have occurred, and even did a couple of "photoshops" of some public pictures of Andy to further that belief. In retrospect, I shouldn't have done that and I apologize.

But, apparently this didn't start on CU or FR. I've been told by "franksolich", the main "Scamdy" accuser that the first person to express doubt was a DUer. In fact, both Will Pitt and Burch expressed doubt that Andy was suffering from pancreatic cancer, too. I don't have all the links to everything as this was a fairly complicated story, but I reccommend that if you want to know the "other side" that you visit Scamdy, search CU's Best/Worst of DU forum, and see the relevant DUmmie FUnnies threads on FR.

Lastly, I want to say that the reason for this revert war is that Burch just a few days ago posted on DU that he'd added all this, and asked his fellow DUers to protect it, clearly an attempt to vandalism.

Vandalism

[edit]

Deleting articles, or large parts thereof, with no justification, and without regard for citations, is vandalism. Please refrain. If you wish to contribute, feel free, but do not attempt to censor Wikipedia, or to damage articles that you are unhappy with. --Dschor 00:17, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think an apology is in order

[edit]

All things considered it seemed like you were one of the few level headed people around here unlike everybody else. The end result of the drama is that three non-notable pages are about to be deleted, but then again none of them was really important (I sincerely hope that the discussion about The White Rose Society gets get nuked because that thing is truly awful).

I have looked around wiki a bit and did so before as well, but somehow this place it pretty bad. Most changes are vandalism and in a weird way it makes DU and Free Republic look like decent, friendly and civil places in comparison. Also noticed that there the people running this place are very against userboxes and delete them at random, so use {{subst:blabla}}.

I just wanted to remind you that despite our political differences it seems that you were the only adult in the whole group. Guess you deserve a compliment after all. Dr Debug 23:17, 13 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
