User page blanked
Hi Willscrlt
I have blanked your userpage (User:Willscrlt) to prevent population of the non-existent Category:User:Willscrlt, which was deleted at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/User/Archive/July 2008#Category:User:Willscrlt.
Pages categorised in non-existent categories clutter up Special:WantedCategories, where editors are busy trying to clear a huge backlog. Per WP:REDNOT, a red-linked category is an error which should be fixed, and since this category has already been deleted by consensus, it would be wrong to re-create the category. So the only solution is is to remove it from the pgae.
I would have much preferred to just remove the category, but it is generated by some aspect of a massively complex set of templates, and I did not want to tangle with them. In other circumstances I would have left a message here asking you to please fix the problem, but since you have not edited for 6 months, I didn't think that this would catch your attention any time soon.
I have no desire to interfere with your userpage in any other way, so please feel free to restore it if you can prevent it from populating this non-existent category.
Thanks! --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 11:36, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Hi again Willscrlt
- I see that you have restored the userpage to try to figure out why the categ has reappeared. Have you considered simplifying the extraordinarily complex nest of user templates which makes this so hard to track down? --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:24, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Hi again Willscrlt
Six days after you restored the user page, the re-linked category is still there. So I have just blanked it again[1].
Please don't restore it again unless you remove this deleted category.
Thanks. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 13:06, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
