Main page appearance
[edit]Hello! This is a note to let the main editors of this list know that it will be appearing as the main page featured list on March 12, 2012. You can view the TFL blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured list/March 12, 2012. If you think it is necessary to change the main date, you can request it with the featured list directors The Rambling Man (talk · contribs), Dabomb87 (talk · contribs) or Giants2008 (talk · contribs), or at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured list. If the previous blurb needs tweaking, you might change it—following the instructions of the suggested formatting. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :D Thanks! Tbhotch.™ Grammatically incorrect? Correct it! See terms and conditions. 19:29, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Hundreds of scientific books and articles were published by Albert Einstein throughout his career as a theoretical physicist. Best known for his theories of special relativity and general relativity, Einstein also made important contributions to statistical mechanics, especially his treatment of Brownian motion. Other high profile works included his resolution of the paradox of specific heats, and his connection of fluctuations and dissipation. Despite his reservations about its interpretation, Einstein also made seminal contributions to quantum mechanics and, indirectly, quantum field theory, primarily through his theoretical studies of the photon. In addition to the work he did by himself, he also collaborated with other scientists on additional projects, such as the Bose–Einstein statistics and the Einstein refrigerator.

[edit]You were one of the people who contributed to the image review at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Once More, with Feeling (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)/archive1 which was promoted to FA on 16 July 2010. This included a review of the infobox image File:OnceMoreWithFeeling.jpg. I am in a debate at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2012 April 15#File:Pilot .28The Cosby Show.29 monopoly lesson.png, which is a debate over the infobox image for a television episode. The reviewer believes that the image currently violates WP:NFCC. I was hoping you might weigh in on this debate.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:24, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your participation! Sarah (talk) 00:53, 17 April 2012 (UTC) |
How are you? If you or you know anybody who can expand this let them know!♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:30, 29 April 2012 (UTC)
Best wishes
[edit]All the best in the coming days. Your work and presence is greatly appreciated. StN (talk) 02:13, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you very kindly, StN. :) I may be back to Wikipedia someday, but it might not be until 2013. Good luck and happiness to everyone here! Willow (talk) 14:00, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Permission Question
[edit]Greetings, I have a question regarding a file showing the top view of a triosephosphateisomerase (TIM) barrel (PDB accession code 8TIM), colored from blue (N-terminus) to red (C-terminus). Would it be possible for you to email me at lmiller@jblearning.com? I wish to use this file in an upcoming biochemistry textbook.
Thank you for your time. Loron2211 —Preceding undated comment added 13:57, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)
[edit]Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:
- Link to Survey (should take between 5-10 minutes): http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/N8FQ6MM
It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.
At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).
Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.
If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:37, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Can you add to this? I salvaged it from speedy. Albomycin might be the other name and have more hits.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:25, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Jeans instability
[edit]Hello and thank you very much for your work on the equipartition theorem! :-) I know it's 5 years old but I have a question regarding one of your contributions.
"Such a collapse occurs ... when the gravitational potential energy exceeds twice the kinetic energy."
Why is it twice? I'd expect (3/2)NkT to be enough. --egg 10:33, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- I came here by coincidence this morning, and it was so lovely to find your note. I can't answer your question today, but I'll try to get to it before next wek, k? Thanks! :) Willow (talk) 12:00, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
Help with peer review?
[edit]Hi Willow; I've returned to WP after an admittedly long hiatus (and don't quite know yet how much time I will spend here in the future), and I'm now all geared up to get my article Jürgen Ehlers (about a physicist who was my mentor and unexpectedly died in 2008) up to FA status. I've put the article up for peer review here. I fondly remember your kind input back in the good old days (so to speak), and would greatly appreciate your help with this peer review! Hoping that all is well with you, Markus Poessel (talk) 19:40, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
