Advice

[edit]

Although I have been to WP for some time as a reader and awhile doing some editing, it is only recently that I became very active when I noticed the apparent destruction of ACIM articles by this user. I may need advice on my role here as I am not that familar with WP procedures.--Who123 02:21, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You might look at Wikipedia:Requests for comment#Request comment on users and Wikipedia:Requests for comment/User conduct. As the name implies, this is a request for comments by the community about user conduct. Once we post the RfC our work is mostly done. Other editors will add their comments, and the subject will participate in whatever way she chooses. Successfull RfCs result in a cessation of problems and are forgotten. Unsuccessful RfCs form the basis for further dispute resolution. Let's hope that's not the case. -Will Beback 05:35, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What am I doing wrong? How do I do it right?--Who123 04:58, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Diffs" are the same links you find in the history page of an article, labelled as "last" (as in, "show difference from the last version"). The "last" link is just to the right of "cur" (as in, "show difference from the current version"). If the desired edit is a signed talk page comment then just note the date and time in the signature, then look it up in the history. For an article edit you have to hunt around, aided by edit summaries. When you click on a "diff" it should look like this:[1]
If the contribuiton wasn't a single edit, but rather a series of uninterruptred edits, you can use the round "radio buttons" to select a range, then press the "Compare selected versions" button. The resulting URL will show the whole effort.
I'm not sure if that's clear, please let me know if you have questions. I'll see if I can find an official instruction page. -Will Beback 05:28, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ah - see Help:Page history. -Will Beback 05:29, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Lastly, don't worry about it too much. As long as your intention is clear I can fix the link quickly. I'd like to get this posted soon, maybe later tonight. We can keep adding, though I htink we already have enough. -Will Beback 05:40, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

BB06

[edit]

Is the BB06 section going to be staying in this RfC? If so, would there be a place where, and would people mind if, I could comment on that particular situation? --JD[don't talk|email] 15:02, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Durogatory comments, and attempts to own an article."

Please see this comment on my page [[2]] by Ste4k. Has she decided that the best defense is a good offense?--Who123 16:29, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
