He won two Hugo, two World Fantasy Awards and a World Fantasy Life Achievement award; he also won a Queen's Award and an Edgar Award in the mystery genre. The Vergil Magus trilogy, of which The Scarlet Fig constitutes the third and final volume, is regarded - by both the author and his critics - as the major work of his writing career.[reply]
