Norre Port
[edit]Hi, Wikijmartin. I'm a new page reviewer, and I noticed your article Norre Port - Halmstad, Sweden City Gate. I wanted to thank you for translating this article over to English, as there's a treasure trove of material in other languages that could be used here. If this is something that interests you, you may even consider joining Intertranswiki, a WikiProject dedicated to translating articles to and from other language Wikipedias.
However, there are a few issues that need to be resolved with this translation before I or another reviewer can mark the article as "reviewed" (basically, give search engines the go-ahead to index it). Save one, however, these issues were inherited from the Swedish article itself, so you didn't do anything wrong, but it's best if we get them fixed in the near future so we can make sure the article gets reviewed.
- (Please ignore this as a criticism; I see that you're actively working to fix it. However, if you believe the Swedish-language article is superior, you may find [[{{{1}}}]]wikilinks save one directs to the Swedish Wikipedia. While, for example, the Swedish Wikipedia's article on Halmstad is staggeringly more complete than the English one, we typically link to either just the English one or to both using a template. This should be a relatively easy fix. useful) The first thing is that all of the
- The second is that the article contains no inline citations. To make it easier for both readers and editors to confirm that what our articles say with what our sources say, inline citations are necessary. In this case, if all of the information here is based on the one source Norre Port Rediviva i krig och fred, then putting an inline citation at the end of each paragraph to signify the entire paragraph is covered by that one reference should be fine.
- The third is that some of the information is uncited. The lone reliable source the article is based on, Norre Port Rediviva i krig och fred, was published in 1981. However, at least two sentences discuss the building as it was in 2005 and 2007. This either means this was original research on behalf of a Swedish Wikipedia editor or was taken from a reliable source which was never cited in the Swedish Wikipedia's article.
- The fourth is that the title of the article should simply be 'Norre Port' (or 'Norreport', but it seems like the former is preferred), because there's no reason to disambiguate the title; no other article has this title. This is a simple matter, so by the time you're reading this, I've already taken care of it.
- The fifth is that the article does not yet have any categories, although this happens all the time with new articles, and it should take me just a few minutes to fix that.
- I was going to mention the article being an orphan (no other articles link to it), but that's already been fixed.
Even though there should be at least one more source as well (guidelines require at least two reliable, independent sources with significant coverage) to establish notability, I think it's reasonable to assume there's another reliable, independent Swedish source discussing this building in significant depth. All in all, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure we get these issues resolved and this article reviewed. Once we get the more technical stuff like categories done, I'm going to hop over to WikiProject Sweden and see if somebody there can help out as well. Not sure how to add/reply to a post on talk
[edit]Thanks for the review - it gives me plenty to learn and work through! Hopefully this will be an adequate beginning to answer your kind comments and pointers, but I couldn't find a clear/quick way to reply or add this post - it seemed to lead me to editing yours !! - the reason for my addition/page creation was a friend in Sweden who gave me a hint on what my grandfather's match case pictured, and my discovery that there was no English language page.
