[edit]Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Hello JamesBWatson,
Thank you for your message. I updated my draft about Splendia in order to make it more neutral and non-commercial. In addition, I developed a bit the key figures and added several sources from popular online newspapers to legitimize this article respecting Wikipedia's conditions.
Speedy deletion nomination of Splendia
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Splendia, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Calton | Talk 14:02, 23 April 2018 (UTC)
Moved to draft
[edit]Yes, it comes across as promotional. That's why editors with a conflict of interest should never attempt to write articles directly in main article space. If you have a conflict of interest, it's very hard to write objectively. Rather than delete it, I have moved your article to Draft:Splendia for you to improve and submit for review via Wikipedia:Articles for creation (there is a button at the top of the draft for submitting it). ~Anachronist (talk) 17:37, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
Hello Anachronist,
Thank you for your feedback. I'm gonna work again on this draft in order to make it less promotional.
Do you have any suggestion ? Should I delete entirely some sections? or reformulate some particular sentences?
Thanks again for your help. Wikifreddywiki
- The text itself isn't promotionally written, it's the overall content and the citations. I see you removed some things. However, the article gives the appearance of striving for notability by referencing many sources, but the sources themselves aren't useful. The article relies far too heavily on directory listings, trivial mentions, and possibly press releases or other material written by the company or its representatives. You should focus on in-depth coverage, and refrain from including every source you can find that mentions Splendia. Just picking some at random:
- https://www.crunchbase.com/organization/splendia is a directory listing
- http://www.girokonto.org/postbank/giro-extra-plus is a trivial mention
- http://time.com/money/4895917/best-discount-luxury-hotel-booking-sites/ is a brief paragraph in a larger article, effectively a trivial mention.
- https://vimeo.com/52963468 is a primary source (the content comes from the company, not from an independent source), and not desirable to use as a citation.
- You need secondary sources that cover the topic in depth. "Secondary" means the sources should be independent of the company, not written by or commissioned by the company. I'd say you have some work to do, in reducing the unnecessary sources. Many of them are redundant, and don't add to the quality of the article. ~Anachronist (talk) 20:11, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
