[edit]You just reverted what I did, to get rid of the spam :O
- Well, what happened was the anon 66.91.226.231 made two vandal edits, one in the Solid Snake section [1] and the next in the Pit section [2]. You only reverted the Solid Snake section [3]. I'd clicked on a previous revision before you did that and reverted to a revision before yours [4] and cleared away the rest of the spam, specifically I reverted to AntiVandalBot's version. So I never actually removed any changes you made. --WikiSlasher 09:36, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Thank You WikiSlasher.

Annoying hoax.
[edit]Having done some digging, the articel at Cademuir International School I found to be a complete fraud. I replaced it with a shorter articel that doesn't make noxious accusations unsupported by other people. 68.39.174.238 21:16, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yay I was right :) I suspected it to be a hoax because info that it had I figured should be easy to find with a Google search, the POV and the no sources. --WikiSlasher 08:57, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your message. I think we can try involving other people without going, yet, for RfC. The PoV, while outrageous, seems plausibly to be based in fact as my search of the HMI website revealed. We need to keep a close eye on POV pushing and more insertion of unverified or libellous info, without utterly stifling editing of the article. Appreciate your support. --Guinnog 17:09, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Dear WikiSlasher - I am the author of the above article and I see you have put a "worldwide" warning on it. Just to let you know, the article is still incomplete and I will be adding sections - hopefully this weekend - about Singapore, Canada, Australia and India.
To that end, I've removed the box and reverted your edit. Hope you don't mind. It is a very fresh article, having just been written, and I am in the process of expanding it.
If you take a look, you'll see that I did a great deal of work over the last few days but have been prohibited from doing more by commitments over the next 2 or 3.
I will get on with the international perspective.
Best wishes. -- FClef (talk) 14:11, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Not a problem, best wishes --WikiSlasher 14:13, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hello there, WS. Thanks for your note. Just keeping you up to speed: I've begun to inject some internationality into Flypast and hope this will satisfy you. There is more to come, as soon as I can find the time. Thank you for drawing it to my attention, although I had bookmarked many references on international topics but hadn't got around to putting them in, I was so keen to get the article "live" (and probably therefore somewhat premature...). There will be more on Royal events in the UK as well, since that has engendered absolutely MASSIVE aerial displays during the last few years. Hope you've had a good weekend. -- FClef (talk) 19:02, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Many thanks.

Hello. You added a cleanup template to this article less than five minutes after it was created. Please note that the creator of said article is an established editor with no ill history, but, more importantly, the edit summary clearly states that the article is from a public domain source. For copyright reasons, at least one revision should keep the text from said source intact. You'll note that a few minutes afterward, the original editor had cleaned up it and added links to it, which they had been doing in the time when you tagged it — in the future, please be more careful about blindly tagging articles. Thank you.--SB | T 03:46, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for replying.
I had never even created any account when I was first blocked for being a sockpuppet of user:Dabljuh. I know that using sockpuppets is advised against, and I never did it like lying about who I was (after being blocked the last time, I mostly added the name of my account whenever it was relevant).
My first account, user:Tit for tat (user page seems to have been deleted by someone since then), was instantly indef.blocked (without any warning or temp.block) because I harassed another user by tagging two of his comments to article talk pages with the WP:SPA tag (not knowing that this is indeed considered to be very rude. well, I was quite a newbie back then). I apologized to the harassed user after finding out about the rudeness of my action (I asked the user who had created the SPA-tag). And I tried to talk to the blocking admin, I even proposed going to Mediation Cabal, but he never replied.
Then I created another account, user:Subversive element. I talked to several admins, asking for Tit_for_tat to be unblocked because I don't like editing as a de facto sockpuppet of a banned user account. user:Centrx unblocked me, but the blocking admin told him off and reblocked Tit_for_tat (indef, like before).
I continued editing from Subversive in a much more civil way, as anyone can (still) see from the Subversive account. One day, I stumbled over the RfA of another user, user:Hex. I had never met him before, but his self-nom seemed very nice. So I decided (unaware that this also is against policy) to support him by posting on several other user's talk pages in favour of his RfA. I got indef.blocked again (by the same admin who had blocked Tit_for_tat) for taking part in an ideological war. I admit that the posting in question (see block log of Subversive) maybe a bit confusing, but I did not mention any users in that post, so it's not a personal attack. Anyway, that user blocked me again, and has since been reverting many of my absolutely civil attempts at communication with him and even other users. He actually went so far as to delete my inofficial AMA-request from an AMA member's [(user:Amerique) talk page. You see, he is a current ArbCom-member and that's why I said there's no helping me.
Do I believe that an ideological war is taking place on wikipedia? Yes, I do. Do I like that or did I start that war? No, absolutely not. But that war is there, and we (the good guys) are losing it. Far too many good users are losing interest in wikipedia or even get blocked. Read my contributions to Wikipedia_talk:WikiGnome#I.27m_a_WikiSlave if you're still interested in my opinion on some things. After all, you seem to be among the more sensible people I have met on wp. 87.78.149.110 13:04, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- user:Jakew is now deleting posts I made to a new user from that user's talk page, in spite of the fact that that person expressed his will to discuss with me here. Incredible, simply incredible. 87.78.181.124 18:58, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Have you read up on Wikipedia:Banning policy? What I would find useful is diffs. Apparently nothing matters if you're banned, the individual merit of any edit can be reverted no explanation. I might need to sift through some stuff to find the actual reason. Considering that banned editors' comments can be reverted so easily, I'll say I endorse the current version. I am still neutral in this argument and hopefully I can come up with a yea or nay answer shortly. --WikiSlasher 06:23, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Re: Image:Riaabad.gif
[edit]Yes, you are correct, it does appear to only allow for non-commercial use. It would be a shame to remove it from the article -do you think if I were to replicate it (perhaps as an SVG) I could resubmit it? It isn't a proprietary logo as such, and is used on may websites. I'm not familiar with US law on copyright issues - by which %age would I need to change the image's appearance for it to be considered different? Thanks Sfacets 13:14, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- I would recommend either a) getting the image relicensed to allow commercial use or b) trying to claim fair use on it. Is the website you obtained it on the website that invented it? If not what is? If it is then use on of my suggestions above. Hope that helps. --WikiSlasher 09:37, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Biohacker
[edit]Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Biohacker, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at Talk:Biohacker. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --WikiSlasher 02:44, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

Prod warnings
[edit]Hey, You added some prod templates to the old templates section on WP:UTM, with the edit summary Added Proposed deletion notification templates. I was just wondering where they were proposed. It's just that one of the major things with the new system is the warnings are all lower case, so people don't have to remember whether a warning is case sensitive. Also these might be changed in the next month or so when we do the second part of the harmonisation project over at WP:UW. Cheers Khukri - 09:24, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Re: Blocking an account anon only
[edit]I worried about that, the first time I saw it, too. If I remember right, I blocked a sock to test it, and I don't thiiink anybody's come back to haunt me after that treatment. Mainly, the anon-only option is checked by default, so it'd be a bit of a bother to uncheck it for every block. But, do let me know if you see any problems in that regard, and I'll update my scripts accordingly. Thanks for the thought. :) Cheers. – Luna Santin (talk) 00:39, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hey...this is carbide77...i cant use my account at school where their ip is blocked because you blocked me. The real problem is... you blocked me for deleting a comment on my own talk page. What is that about? I cant edit my own page? Anyway, I dont vandalize Wiki, people who use my account do, but i guess im not going to let people do that any more because it gets me blocked for stuff they do. I just want to ask if i can be unblocked. I would like to get back to my correcting of articles. Thank you 71.253.100.144 02:13, 26 April 2007 (UTC)carbide77...o wait...i cant sign my name...you blocked my account
- Hello there Carbide77. I didn't block you, Luna Santin did as you can see here. You were blocked indefinitely because your account was used (as you can see in your contribution log) to vandalize Hal Turner, edit Will Beback's message to say "I like penis and i know your homophobic so I can't let you have a say because i take it up the ass" [14] and vandalize the articles of Anna Nicole Smith and George W. Bush despite warnings to stop. You didn't delete any comments on your own talk page, someone (maybe you) edited someone else's comment to say something else.
- It is a good idea not to let others use your account so it's good you're not going to do that anymore. Please log in and on your talk page, put {{unblock|your reason here}}. Feel free to link to this conversation.
- One more thing, can you please tell me the IP address of the school? Thanks. --WikiSlasher 03:50, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
Lists
[edit]I have two questions on making lists in Wikipedia. First, do you know of any program or any way to insert an asterix before every entry of a plain list? There's nothing before them to replace with an asterix in word, excel, or notepad, and I don't know of any other way to add a character to the beginning of a varied list. Second, is there any way to make lists without putting an asterix in front of each entry? For example I have one list, a list of all the things I like (it's interesting to make, and helps you understand yourself better), and an excerpt from Hamlet I liked. A part of the list of my favorite thing reads: 18. Hamsters 19. Squirrels 20. Wikipedia 21. Information 22. Efficiency
and a part of the Hamlet passage reads: But two months dead: nay, not so much, not two: So excellent a king; that was, to this, Hyperion to a satyr; so loving to my mother That he might not beteem the winds of heaven Visit her face too roughly.
Trouble is, Wikipedia seems to read the returns as spaces instead of breaks, leading to just a string of passages. I want it to return at the returns, but so far, the only way I know how to do that is put an asterix in front of each line, which is tedious in my games list example, and absurd in the passage excerpt, to have a bullet next to every line. So, is there any other way to make lists besides asterixes and bullets? Kevin 21:05, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
You can try having a blank line between each item like so:
Hamsters
Squirrels
Wikipedia
Information
Efficiency
or use #s at the start of each line to number it:
- Hamsters
- Squirrels
- Wikipedia
- Information
- Efficiency
or bullets:
- Hamsters
- Squirrels
- Wikipedia
- Information
- Efficiency
I found a way to quickly add an asterisk before every line but it's a bit weird. Copy the list into Word, then make a big column of asterisks (at least as many as the number of things in the list) (easy with copy and paste) then hold Alt while clicking and dragging to select the entire column, then copy with Ctrl+C and paste it at the beginning of the list and tada! I don't know of any easier way to do it. --WikiSlasher 09:04, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
- I didn't expect that to work, but I tried it anyway, and it worked perfectly. I had no clue Alt would do that in Word. It allowed me to do precisely what I wanted to do easily, and the only problem was the little problem that when Alt selecting on my version of Word (2002), the scroll rate vastly increases, making it difficult to control. But all that meant was to select smaller blocks of text at once. Thanks for the advice :). Kevin 01:28, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use disputed for Image:RoboGamecover.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:RoboGamecover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:12, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

- I'm not from the Philippines and I do not speak Tagalog, sorry. What made you think I did? --WikiSlasher (talk) 10:32, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I understand that to be an issue, and I may agree with the idea of removing that sentence. But why remove both sentences if you only have problem with the second one. The main concern with the idea of a "soul" is that its a religious concept, having everything to do with 1) transcendence (because it lives on after death) immortality (because it can (God willing) live forever) and God himself, who actually creates each soul (according to religious belief). I think its appropriate and in fact necessary to refer to those three concepts in the lede. Thanks- Zahd (talk) 18:47, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
alt med tag on soul
[edit]alt med tag
[edit]Hi, just to say I've answered your query on wp alt med and Talk:Soul. I'm not personally invested in it as I'm just adding the banner etc to articles people had already placed in the alt med category (I didn't do that myself). However I can see their point that it's arguably an important concept in alt med, but then it's an important concept in a lot of western philosophy/spirituality anyway.:)
Is there a bit of the article addressing the concept's importance in the new age movement etc? Sticky Parkin 22:50, 7 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response. There isn't anything on the concept's importance in the new age movement as far as I can tell. There's "Some further believe the entire universe has a cosmic soul as a spirit or unified consciousness" but I'm not sure that addresses the new age movement. --WikiSlasher (talk) 01:41, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
