Was just made aware that this existed. Appreciate you starting this, and trying to get it together. I figure it's a bit inappropriate for me to be editing it, but I also figured I should give you some quick clarifications and corrections. Much of this information is available over at http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Bulbapedia. You will also find additional info at http://wikiindex.org/Bulbapedia and at http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Bulbapedia

  1. Bulbapedia *is* the first English Pokémon wiki, having been established on December 21, 2004, over a month before Wikia's version. It simply did not open to public editing until Valentines Day 2005.
  2. The name is Liam Pomfret, not Liam Pomfrey
  3. Its name is a portmanteau of Bulbagarden, the Pokémon website which runs Bulbapedia, and encyclopedia. Wikipedia never came into it.
  4. Bulbapedia is not "hosted by" Bulbagarden, nor is Bulbanews a separate fansite as your text implies. Bulbapedia and Bulbanews are both projects of Bulbagarden. They are an indivisible part of it, not entities in their own right
  5. Bulbanews is not a "Wikinews based fansite". While it may have launched to the public in Aprol 2005 after Wikinews was launched, it was conceived of by Bulbagarden staff independently of that back in late 2004, before Wikinews had even established a demonstration wiki

A few additional things that may or may not be of help to you in writing this article

  1. Bulbagarden's webmaster Archaic was one of the contestants in the iiNet Top Geek Competion (iiNet being one of Australia's largest ISP's), placing 1st for the public vote but being eliminated in the finals - http://www.topgeek.iinet.net.au/entry/list/#view/102
  2. Archaic was also interviewed for an article on the history of the Pokémon franchise by Hyper Magazine (Australia's oldest independent video gaming magazine). "Is That A Monster In Your Pocket?" appears in Issue #211 (currently on sale as I write this) on pages 86-90.
  3. Another user tried creating a draft Bulbapedia article, though they seem to have given up. You can find that draft here - http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Neo_of_ZW/Bulbapedia

Partnership

[edit]

Hello there! I've just been told that you have also been working on a draft for Bulbapedia. Mine is at User:Nathan2055/Bulbapedia. Is there any chance that you might want to form a partnership working on this article, because I can't find any sources. Thanks! --Nathan2055talk 01:25, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
