Regarding your edit on Milankovic, you were probably correct, but Jugoslovenska akademija znanosti i umetnosti certainly existed. Milankovic was regular member of SANU and corresponding member of JAZU. Nikola 04:27, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The current HAZU was indeed named JAZU until 1991; thus the original redirect was appropriate. It was named "Yugoslav" from the very start as Strossmayer was a Yugoslavist, meaning he supported separation of Croatia from Austria-Hungary and its unity with Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro, possibly Bulgaria too. The terms "Yugoslav" and "Yugoslavia" came into being around the same time (mid 19th century). Whether the academy acted as a Yugoslav or a Croatian academy while carrying the name "Yugoslav" I don't know much about. I'm sure that, even though a lot of people got booted out in 1991 on the national basis and replaced by Tudjman's cronies, the current HAZU is indeed a continuation of what was JAZU for the most of its existence. I'll go ahead and merge the current info under JAZU into the HAZU article, and make sure that its former name figures prominently, so there is no confusion. Miranche 04:11, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
