- It's easy. Stop adding unsourced promotional material to the article. If you persist, you risk being blocked. You also need to address the notice above about your conflict of interest.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:45, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- What's the mention re conflict of interest? WikiFCer101 (talk) 21:27, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at David Corn, you may be blocked from editing. Bbb23 (talk) 22:15, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- I went back in and added sourced material from reviews. None of it was from promotional or advertising material. Why was that blocked. What is the problem with that? I added awards that were sourced to the award sites. What is the problem with doing this? WikiFCer101 (talk) 22:24, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- Sourced or not, the language you used was blatantly promotionl and unacceptable in an encyclopedia article. And, again, you have to address the conflict of interest. It's right on this page before your eyes.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:30, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
- I don't mean to be difficult, but where is the conflict of interest notice? I just don't see it on this page.....Also, the article omits an entire book written by David Corn, several awards won by him, and the fact that several books became NY Times bestsellers. Is it promotional to include that material? One entry about one of the books has a long segment maintaining a fact was wrong in one of the books. It does not include other more favorable reviews. Is it promotional to include that material? I'm trying to see how to make this entry overall more balanced. Thanks for bearing with me and helping. WikiFCer101 (talk) 00:21, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- My apologies, apparently I need stronger glasses. I've posted the notice below.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:44, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hah. Thanks for posting that notice. So if one proposes a change on the talk page for this article, who decides if the change is made? And thanks for your assistance here. WikiFCer101 (talk) 01:49, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- You're getting ahead of yourself. You have to disclose whether you have a conflict before you do anything else.--Bbb23 (talk) 01:59, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks. I see there's a whole process to follow when proposing an edit if there's a potential COI. I think I can figure that out. WikiFCer101 (talk) 02:08, 1 December 2024 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, WikiFCer101. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page David Corn, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bbb23 (talk) 01:43, 1 December 2024 (UTC)
