Non-existent categories

[edit]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Nicki Minaj, please make sure that the category page actually exists. In some cases, it may be appropriate to create a new category in accordance with Wikipedia's categorization guidelines, but it is usually better to use the most specific available existing category. It is never appropriate to leave a page categorised in a non-existent category, i.e. one whose link displays in red. You may find it helpful to use the gadget HotCat, which tests whether a category exists before saving a change. Thank you. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 21:32, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Raheem Sterling. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Ghmyrtle (talk) 21:18, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You clearly seem to be the only one engaged in an edit war here.... Are you okay? Lol. Funny how you were literally just engaging in one with John Barnes biography, reasons why I contributed and left “No edit warring” with the proper revision. Now you want to leave this falsely claimed accusation on my page? Please seek help because the delusion is certainly real. Wiki1Voice2 (talk) 21:44, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm fine, thanks. Please learn to WP:INDENT correctly. Ghmyrtle (talk) 22:12, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Ghmyrtle (talk) 22:07, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That’s perfectly fine. If a certain individual proudly identify/represents themselves as a nationality—(that of in which the country that they were born in and parents also hail from, despite possibly migrating at an early age) then there should be no reason why that nationality isn’t used to identify the individual. It’s usually that issue or there’s other nationalities—usually the country in which the individual is based in or resides in—

being added on to their biography with absolutely no sources cited that can prove dual citizenship in that country- which would be the only accurate way to claim any other nationality. This is what I firmly stand up for and believe shouldn’t be altered with, strongly because that is how they identify themselves. There may be some reliable sources that identify an individual as the nationality of the country in which that person resides/is based in, but there are also plenty of other reliable sources that solely identifies the individual as the nationality of the country in which they were born in(which is the nationality in which the individual identifies themselves as as well). Let’s say an individual was born in The Bahamas to American parents, then they later migrated back to America when the individual was a child. If that individual was to become a notable person in America, that would be a perfect example in which you would identify the individual by where they reside/is based and not by birthplace. This is because despite not being born in America, their parents were, so that makes them American by heritage, ethnicity, culture, etc. To identify them as “Bahamian” or “Bahamian-American”—unless that is how they identify themselves— would be irrational, due to the fact that they have no affiliations with The Bahamas, nor any family from there. For the people that you’re mentioning/those that I’ve edited, this does not happen to be the case at all for them. All of them still have very strong affiliation with their countries, despite migrating at an early age if did— and all of them have parents/rest of family that are from the same country that they were born in, so not only does it make it their nationality just by birthplace, it is who they are by ethnicity, heritage, culture, descent, etc.. and if they identify as such, it shouldn’t be omitted. It is quite odd that this even has to be discussed. Wiki1Voice2 (talk) 23:29, 4 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
